I know it's the sensible option but I'm impatient to lose some flab in the meantime! I've been really busy today, went to Swansea, and Cardiff to see clients and then back home. Very impressed with myself as I'm back before 6 for the first time this week. I'm now beginning to feel a little apprehensive about tomorrow. What if he says I'm not suitable for the op? OMG! I still have to tell OH what I've decided to do! Ok, ok... deep breaths, calm calm calm... What will be will be! Hx

Lighter life is a VLCD (very low carlorie diet) in fact only 500 calories a day. It is authorised and supervised by your GP and the cost is £66.00 per week. Cambridge diet is the same thing and is 32.55 per week so I'm on Cambridge now, but it's the same difference. Once you get used to the 'not eating' because you're absolutely right, there are only 'shakes and bars' oh, and 4L of water everyday. It stops bothering you.... However I did start obsessing about food, dreaming about it, cooking fabulous dishes for my family and watching 'food porn' You know, UKTV food...!!! So by the time I go the the miaintenance phase I had developed an unhealthy obsession with food, that, I swear, I never had before. Suddenly I wanted to open the fridge door and empty the contents into myself! I have to say that this is the quickest I've ever regained weight following the most expensive 'successful' diet I've ever been on! Still, it has to be done pre holiday as it's not a nudist colony so I HAVE to fit into my clothes and the airplane seat! Hx

Hi there, if you're looking for people who've already been banded by Elyzea, then have a look at WLSinfo.co.uk In the past week two people have been banded there (can't remember their names... sorry!) I'm going to see Dr Mignon myself on Friday, too, but will probably wait until after Christmas. Hx

Thanks for your support Suzanne. I feel that you just confirmed that I'm not completely mad! As for the diet.... well I'm going back on it tomorrow, I can't stay like this, even though I know that as soon as I start eating again it'll go straight back on, I have to make some sort of effort at least not gain any more weight. I still haven't managed to broach to subject with OH, but it will happen. I'm looking forward to Friday and meeting Dr Mignon, and organising a date based on his advice.

I, too am seeing Dr Mignon on 13th October, so there are 3 of us, I can make out who are pre banding with him. I'm also a member of the WLS site and there are a couple of girls who were banded last week by him! No probs for them so far. I'm feeling pretty confident about him now! Hx

    Hey PRE-Banders...!

I'm looking forward to being slim again.... And STAYING that way. Being able to go into a clothes shop and just pick up my 'usual' size, instead of looking at what I weigh this month and choosing accordingly. Being able to go hill walking and not wanting to die halfway up the mountain! Hx

Thanks for that! It's really good to for me to hear some guidance on how to handle it, I'm just feeling a bit depressed about being sooo big again so soon after losing loads. I did Lighter Life last year and lost my 100lb in 100 days, but I have to say that I have gained by 50 of them already. So disappointing. I know that the diet works buy I'm just so hungry by the end of the day, I end up binging on dinner. I think I need to make OH understand how hard it is for me. After all he knows that I struggle with my weight, we've been together for 19years (I met him just after I'd lost a shed load of weight, only to start gaining when we started going out for meals and staying in.... with food and drink!) At the moment I've no clothes to wear, because foolishly, I threw out most of my 'big' clothes when I lost weight last year.... Size 16 is just NOT even touching me. OK will stop moaning now and get on with it! Hope you have a good day! Hx

Yeah, but I'm not without my own probs.... Still haven't worked out how to tell OH that this is what I really want. Still deciding who else needs to know.... Thinking about a holiday that we've booked for 23/11 and I really don't want to miss that..... so might just wait until after Christmas to have the procedure.... Dunno, having a real strange day today... eaten for England, can't seem to stop myself, feeling really fat and nothing fits me at the moment. (OK moaning now) Part of me really wants to have it done sooner rather than later, but then the other part of me is thinking.... If I can't get it done like NOW,then I should wait until after Christmas..... I dunno what's your take on it?

http://www.allerganandinamed.com/products/obesity/us/clinician/lapband/prodinfo.html Being a bit of an anorak, I've researched the bands and I think that you mean an Inamed LAP-BAND. The come in 3 sizes, you can look at them again if you click on the link above ( don't feel obliged to though, if you're feeling a bit squeemish!!! Hx

I'm told that private hospital rates in the UK are exthortionate! Apparently the surgeon's costs are about the same. Sometimes in Europe you can pay less for the surgical instruments, lap band etc.... Do you know which band you're having?

FYI it's at www.fathappens.com Don't know who did her surgery in Belgium, but it's enough to scare the Bejesus out of anyone! Anyhow, her experience didn't put me off 'cos I've seen soo many successes come thru the WLS site and I guess it comforted me. There's no way on this earth I could stretch to the £8000 the want for the surgery here, so needs must where the devil drives I suppose. Hx

thanks for filling me in! Now I don't have to feel like a complete ding bat, when I ask for mission impossible! the itinery also answered another question for me.... Do they xray to make sure that the band is in the right place! I know that it's supposed to be best practice, but I also know of people who have NEVER had an xray following their surgery. Admittedly they are a year post op now and have had no probs, but was looking at Anne Diamond's site and she was xrayed by another clinic and they found her band was around her oesophagus. So it was a worry for me! Hx

When I made my appointment to see him, his p.a. said that they had places in November, but she said nothing about October, but you never know, although I'm hoping to have a Monday slot, so that I can fit it in around my home life! I'm going to be driving into Manchester, so I won't have to walk anywhere! (Lazy I know, but the total journey is about 100 miles!) I woke up today and felt like my mind was completely made up and this was defo the right thing to do for me, now I just feel calm....(OK my stomach is flipping out a bit!)

Now you've confused me!! the 26th is 19 days away! I'm seeing him on Friday that's only 6 days away now. Come on girl! If your brain is dyed blonde now..... Heck knows what it'll be like after the anaesthetic!!!??? Well you've certainly made me laugh now! Hx

Ooooh! forgot to say that I found the info on this on the site of another French Doctor who shares a specialist nurse with some UK docs who works from Bristol and, I think, Gloucester Nuffield hospitals. My appointment for consultation is on Friday 13th (Spooky) but only 3 days before your op..... I'll let you know as soon as they get back to me about it. Hx

I did wonder about the Fills myself, although I might apply to have aftercare at the local nuffield hospital who offer it for £300 for up to 6 fills and about 30 minutes away rather than 1.5 hours to Manchester! Not long for you to wait now.... Two weeks on Monday! I'm totally excited for you and anxious for you and myself! H x

Thanks Suzanne, I've also had replies from the WLSinfo.org.uk website and found a few people who've had their procedure with him and are very pleased with the results so far! I'm guessing that I'll need lots of support! I have a friend who was banded by the NHS a year ago she's at goal weight now, having lost 11 stones in 10 months. She's delighted with her result and is able to do all the things she never thought possible..... like keep up with an exercise class, paint her own toe nails (now that's one thing that really appeals!). But she is finding it hard to do without her security blanket (food) and there are days when she says, that if she could, she would rip out her band and eat for Wales! It's not an easy decision but I hope that it will provide me with a tool that will enable me to be a healthy weight.
