  1. I have only been banded a 19days, my surgeon will NOT fill until 6 weeks. He wants us to be completely healed and our tummy ready to be tightened. I was told I may not even need a fill right away because of natural swelling. But at this time I already feel I can eat more then I want to be able to eat. My personal reason for going through the only surgery in my life is to get some sort of restriction i.e. feeling of fullness so I can't just eat all I want. Lots of things, when reading the forums can be confusing because there are so many answers and comments from tons of people. It all boils down to what is right for "me" or "you" or "them" ...
  2. I've watched 3 of them now, just wondering if all Surgeons have you do this? I find them really helpful and informative.

    Emmi Program

Emmi - is a online program that is a little tutorial for your journey with the lapband. 1st one I watched (the Dr. office gave me a sheet with a code to log in with) was before surgery, and what to expect, 2nd one was 4-6 weeks postOp, prior to any adjustments/fills, 3rd is about adjustments/fills. They give you an opportunity to asked your Dr. questions (which they answer you at your appointments), they give you an idea what the band looks like after surgery, why you wait to eat solids due to stomach swelling etc.

Not sure if I can do 'pur?ed foods'

I'm in the mushie/puree stage as well. One thing I've been loving.. is the vegetarian (low fat) refried Beans mixed in some salsa, a little shredded cheese then bake in the oven. I take greek yogurt (plain) add in the powder mix of ranch to make a lil sour cream ranch taste and top off the beans. LOVE IT! I was so tired of the liquid phase, not because of the foods but I was tired of just 'drinking' everything

    Boise Bandsters?

    Any body out there?
  6. I had my surgery on the 18th of November. I'd say about 4-5 days to feel 'good'. I walked at the mall on about day 3 and it was uncomfortable mostly because of the gas pains in my chest/back area.
  7. I noticed several people mentioned scrambled eggs, I don't have a fill yet but thought eggs should be pretty easy. What is it about them that seems to get stuck? Are they actually more dry then one would expect? Just curious

    2 weeks PostOp

I am so happy that after 2 weeks I am really doing well. I'm back to excersing, still on liquids for 1 week but over all feeling physically well. My scars are healing really well and I see my surgeon Monday and am really excited. The hardest part is the first 6 weeks just making it through the liquid/puree phase but still looking forward to my first fill, hopefully before New Years Day. After reading a lot on the forums I think still the only thing that makes me uneasy is the thought of trigger foods and temptations. I see its a issue for a lot. Just gotta keep moving forward, this is going to be a good journey!

    Dieticians...

When I originally saw the dietician, before surgery she said people who stick with seeing a Dietician for more then one or two visits are more sucessful. She suggested seeing her at 3/6/9/12 month intervals. How many have done that or even gone back again after surgery. I was thinking it may be a good idea, so this person can help keep you on track or have someone outside of the 'family' to be accountable to. Thanks!

    Anyone use Wii workouts?

I use Wii Fit and Wii Active. Out of the two I feel I get more cardio from Wii Active (the 1st version). The New Wii Active coming out looks like a blast too!

    Nov 2010 bandsters

I was banded on the 18th, no fill yet. Should be in the next 3 weeks according to my Dr., I see him for the first time tomorrow.
  13. The WLS liason at the hospital told me that too, the day of surgery. I thought it was interesting cause I wouldn't have even thought of that. I like knowing the lil' things like that, no surprises
  14. I'm 2 weeks PostOp and I was more anxious then nervous, I just wanted to be on the other side of the fence My mom was more nervous then I was. Though I woke up that morning at 4:30a cause I couldn't sleep... Good Luck on your Special Day

    5 year weight history

I have UHC, but I did have the weight history. I found they are pretty easy to get approved for. BUT not sure how they would bend on the 5yrs. I would talk to them regarding you not having the full 5yrs and see what they say. Also if you go to their site (www.myuhc.com) or just call them they will tell you if the surgeon you are looking at is in Network.

    Dec 6th getting Lap Band

I'm not sure what all liquids you are having, but I was adding a protein powder to my drinks. You can buy unflavored so you can add it to anything. Having more protein will help keep the hunger away.

    Pain in my gASS!!

My surgery was on the 18th, the gas is starting to let up. I do feel the pain in my left shoulder, but from past experience that is if my tummy is full. Someone did suggest somewhere on here to do windmills with your arms while walking around. The worst part was feeling like you have to burp but nothing would come out. I was so happy the other night I just got up the right way and was able to have my first burp. Lots of people suggest walking, and my feeling is do everything you can to get it out. Good luck!
  18. The waiting goes by faster then you'll imagine. It took me a lil under 2 months from the time of the seminar to actual surgery. Then after surgery I was like "wow, that went by so fast". Enjoy!

  20. Going to my brothers with my hubby and parents. I'm still on the liquids stage so made a yummy potato soup (found the recipe here I think). At this point, not really caring about not eating the other stuff. Just want to get through my first 6 weeks Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!

    Help, banded 2 days ago

Have you called your doc? I've only been banded a week and haven't had any of those issues.
  22. Must agree, had my surgery on the 18th. My 'pain' was from gas not from the surgery itself. Gasx was a life saver. I took my pain meds for the 1st couple days, but only 1/2 doses cause the pain I was in was just gas. I haven't chewed anything in a week, on 3 weeks liquids and 3 weeks puree, so I won't be chewing until closer to January Its been worth it, everyday the gas gets less and less. Hang in there, I'm sure it gets easier but remember it just a tool, we gotta use it well.

    I'm here to help...

Yep, Apples... getting plenty to drink. Lots of Water and crystal light. The hardest part has been getting pass the gas pain in my upper left chest, but each day it gets better, I just want to burp but it doesn't want to Gasx strips work well though! I went to my moms bday party tonight, I made her and my favorite dessert but knew I couldn't have any and I wasn't bothered by it at all. Did have a lil vanilla ice cream all soupy but that really didn't taste to great. Not worried about Tday, I'm taking the pies and greenbean casserole and my lil cup O creamy Soup Also, decided to bake some Cookies I LOVE, next week and send them out to family and friends. I figure if I do it while I can't have them I won't be tempted. I am going to keep a couple in the freezer for next year
  24. Probably everywhere is different but at my eval, I had to do like 2 hours of fill in the dot tests! (annoying ), talked to the Doc like 10 minutes max, he asked me a few questions, nothing unexpected i.e. status, why I wanted the band, weight history, diet history... not much really and that was about all for him.
  25. 5days postOp and feeling excellent!
