64 oz of water a day

I use a 32oz cup, and drink atleast 3 of those a day. Water or crystal light. I know I have to so I just do it. Just a good habit to get in to
  2. I added protein powder to my different foods, chili, yogurt etc to help sustain the full feeling.... Just an idea

    fish oil supplement

I use Carlson's from Vitamin Shoppe.. its lemon flavored liquid and I just add it to my protein shake in the morning with the rest of my liquid vitamins.
  4. I just had my first fill as well. 6.5cc's in a 14cc band. Today was my first day of regular food. I felt full after 3oz of steak w/ lil bbq sauce and less then 1/4c of cauliflower. But I still feel I'm in the trial stages of the 1st fill...

    Nov 2010 bandsters

Banded on the 18th of November, just filled today. A total of 6.5cc in a 14cc band. Only on liquids atm but I can say I can't chug Water like I had been Ended up losing 5 more lbs since surgery, so I'm pretty happy about that. First Holiday season I lost weight
  6. I have read and been told that not everyone loses weight right after surgery. Some gain some lose some maintain. After your fill you should start seeing a difference. I think sometimes our body just needs time to catch up with all that is going on. Best of luck!

    Lap Band Diet Questions?

To me, the band is a tool to help control hunger and portion control. If I were able to cut out things for a lifetime I wouldn't have had this done. I think what is healthy, is to submit to a more healthy way of eating. On occasion, having a treat but always knowing this is 'our' battle. I know that once I reach my goal weight I still can NOT go back to eating as I was or I will weigh as much as I do. This is a journey to a new you, a new eating style and a completely different life style. IMHO, a doctor who says that has no idea what a person who has to lose weight is going through. I would say portions, exercise and moderation is the key to being sucessful. But thats just me

    Beginner questions

Welcome! I first called to see what my insurance covered, attended the seminar, filled out paperwork. Then *Dietician *Psych Eval *Mamagram *Weight History forwarded from my GP *sleep Study *Blood work *EKG (I had taken phenphen) *THEN finally met with the surgeon once his assistant had all the required paperwork from appointments and my GP. He did require me to lose 10% of my weight (his assistant gave me a diet to follow for the fastest results). From Seminar to Surgery I was down 21lbs, 5lbs short of the 10% but 1) he wanted to make sure of my commitment i.e. making the choice to lose some weight before hand 2) shrink down my liver. Best of luck! Its a good journey to be on

    Banded 23DEC10

Congrats on your journey My only advice, if you get the gas pains in your upper chest is walk walk walk. Someone on here suggested doing windmills with your arms while walking and that really seemed to help. Best of luck to you!
  16. In a week I'm having my first fill. Getting a bit nervous, as I have no restriction at this point. My surgeon doesn't put anything in the band during surgery, so its an empty 14cc! Did most of you do liquids one to two days after, then mushies then solids?
  17. ME too! LOL I am one with no fill yet as well... uggh! I enjoyed (a lil too much), I did though notice I couldn't eat as much as I could before but the carbs got the best of me. Holidays are just never that exciting because I lose control with food. Oh well, they are done (basically). I'm back on track today and gonna do my new Wii BLChallenge workout when I get home.

In need of some "guy" advice

The one time I asked a guy out (who we ended up being best friends), was back in the day when Pretty Woman came out! lol... my heart was thumping so hard I thought I was going to pass out. He said yes and we've been friends ever since. We both married someone else but I will never forget that day So keep up the work, if it doesn't work out just remember you gave it your all!
  19. Happy Holidays to all... prebanders, postbanders, forum readers and bandconsiderers!

    1 week after my surgery

I had this too, for me, I went to the mall thinking 'oh no problem'. I ended up sitting a lot. The pain was more like a really bad sideache. So I'm thinking it was just pushing myself a lil too soon. I took a couple chewable tylenols but generally it just seemed that over time the 'sideache' went away. Best Wishes!

Do you wish you brought more

I took myself and my clothes I was wearing... I wasn't there too long so didn't need much. BUT my home was ready to roll... had my pain meds, gasx, water, protein shakes etc!

    Emotional wreck...

Swan, I too had never had surgery or put under. After I was fully awake I too felt like "wow, what did I just do", "was this the right choice". I think is common for everyone to think these things. One of the reasons most choose WLS is because we have failed at 'dieting', this was the last resort for me. I'm 4 weeks postOP, so my mind has been swirling with all I read here on the forums. I'm getting my mind ready for my first fill in 11 days! Keep your chin up and take care of yourself.
  23. Thanks for posting what I've been thinking! I am one month out and don't feel much restriction. I surely did right after surgery. I have lost like 6lbs, but after talking to the nurse she confirmed that some lose a little, gain or stay the same during this time. My first fill is January 3rd, and I'm nervously awaiting that day. Even though I don't feel restriction, I don't let myself over do anything. Thanks again, mind reader! ...LOL

    I CRIED TODAY!!!

I have been banded only a month, and I will tell you I had that 'ashamed' moment too! I was at my sleep over for sleep apnea. I was having a split study (basically if I needed to have the CPAP hooked up they would wake me in the middle of testing to put it on me). Well I fell asleep fairly relaxed and just wanted to get my night away from home over. When the tech had to come wake me up to put the CPAP mask on I was so upset. I too, couldn't believe I had let myself get this far out of control. I already have PCOS, HighBP, HighChol and diabetes so the idea of one more thing was the 'shove over the edge'. I was still very emotional, especially the day I got the confirmation of my surgery date. That part was I think I was more emotionally excited.
