    My 24th Birthday- June 2009

    From the album: Now....And Later

  2. I have 3 and the port in my shoulder! I keep hiccuping...are you hiccuping any? I am still sore in my port, but for all practical purposes my tummy feels sooo much better! I'm thinking I might get out of the house today and stir around...I'm starting to go CRAZY!

  3. That sounds about like me!!! I just woke up and I still feel like I've been hit by a truck...better than yesterday though. My mom says my incisions look good...how many do u have? I have + a port. Just curious I guess lol!

  4. Oh my gosh...I am sooo sore...I stayed at the hospital till 5:30pm and got there at 8:00am- Surgery at 10:30am. I think I still have air around mt stomach and my port site feels terrible!

But beside all that I DO feel like I made the right decision by doing this...I'll just be happy when I can feel normal again!!!

I heard some much about people NOT hurting after surgery...I don't know how though...I always thought I had a very high pain tolerance...guess not lol!

    How are you feeling?

  5. Im so nervous!!! I have to be there at 8:30am...I can't wait but I'm scared too...lol guess I just don't know what to think.

Albany GA bandsters - speak up...

Yay!!! I'm being banded on Friday by Dr. B and I am VERY excited! I am about to D.I.E. on this SugarBusters! diet, but I know that it will help in the long run. Everyone at the office has been so so nice to me thus far and even the hospital staff was nice! I can hardly wait until Friday...I find out my time on Thurs between 1pm and 3pm...but think it's gonna be afternoon, which is really gonna to be good cuz I don't wanna wait and I am prolly gonna start phsycing my self out if I have to wait too long. This whole process has been rather short for me...I began considering my options beginning of 2009. I attended some support groups and also a seminar and didn't really decide to do it until the seminar in January 2010. I had my first consulatation the following week and then my pre-op was at the end of February...and now here I am 2 days before surgery and FREAKING OUT! What if it hurts? What if I don't loose weight? What is something goes wrong? What if my liver isn't small enough and he doesn't do the surgery? What if I don't wake up afterwards...all of these things are going through my head. I know the positives and negatives and that's what I used to make my VERY informed decision to do the surgery...but I am still a worry wart and I DON'T like hospitals lol! In fact I was so freaked out that I have forgotten my instructions on how to get to the out patient surgical station on the second floor! I remember the lady explaining it to me...but I had just gotten done having what seemed like 4,000 pints of blood taken, a random woman seeing my entire upper-body exposed (and for an EKG-none the less) and the realization hit me that I was ACTUALLY going to do this! So I am guessing I will have to contact her before Friday to verify my instructions...cuz I cannot remember! Good job LC, forgetting what your supposed to do and it's not even surgery time yet!
  7. You are sooo lucky you got an early time slot! Totally jealous! I am hoping that the prelim schedule has been changed around and they tell me that he's wanting me there first thing in the morning...if that's the case, then I will be up and at em' at 4:30am my time bc it takes an hour and a half to get to my doctor...but it would be totally worth it to go ahead and get the surgery over and done with!

  8. Yeah I did all that same day (including bloodwork). Your doc might not have you take the pill that I'm taking. He said that they are over-causious about nausia bc they REALLY don't want us to throw up post-surgery. When I went to the hospital they did bloodwork, EKG and chest x-ray. I cannot remember for the life of me what the name of that pill was but it's a SINGLE pill that keeps the nausia away for 72 hours from the time you take it and it by itself was $40.00. I know that I have met my deductible for my BCBS but I have my prescription coverage through a different company, so it may be different if you have your prescriptions filled through your regular insurance company...I dont know how they do the whole "max out of pocket" thing when it comes to prescriptions. The doc also prescribed me a liquid anti-nausia medication as well as some liquid Loritab, but I hope that I won't be in any pain so I don't have to take it...I HATE taking medicine!

  9. * I meant after INSURANCE...not taxes...lol, I know that prolly sounded weird!

  10. Ive already done my pre-op blood work...my meds for surgery and post-op were $60.00 bucks AFTER taxes...that was a shocker, but it's totally worth whats to come!!! I'm starting to get nervous...BIG TIME. My surgery won't be until afternoon and my friend just told me to sleep in and that would help...but I'm so nervous already I KNOW I won't be able to sleep...lol. It was a nice thought though!

  11. I think we are getting banded on the same day...so I thought I would "befriend: you so that we can keep up with each other's progress! My surgery date is this Friday...did you have to do a liquid diet?

    Expectations unrealistic?!?!?!

It sounds like your friend is being "unrealistic" about the purpose of her band. The whole idea is to help you learn how to eat less...thus resulting in weight loss Something you have to keep in mind is that everyone is different and they loose different- some are larger (which means they will loose more)- some are working out along with their diet (which means they will loose more). Cheating the system by taking Fluid in and out so you can eat more or less is not the way to optimize weightloss with this tool...that is why she is just average with her weight loss. If I am not mistaken, the people who post pictures on this site are NOT paid to do so. These are REAL people that REALLY want to make a change...not paid actors or real people who have been paid to advertise and "sell" a product. I just wouldn't let the negativity get you down. 150lbs is a lot of weight to loose, but it's totally possible! I think that you can loose whatever you want to loose...especially with the assistance of the LapBand! Good luck!

    Last Meal Syndrome?

I'm having it BIG TIME! I am on a pre-op diet but it's SugarBusters!...I've lost 6 lbs in a week...but I am still really MISSING food a lot! I think I will prolly go out Thurs night (seeing as though my surgery is this Friday) and eat a good meal...a "legal" meal...but a nice BIG one! I have always loved eating...whenever I meet up with my friends...it's usually at a restaurant...so that is definately gonna be an ajustment for me! Good luck everyone!
  14. I'm so scared about the liver thing too! I am just hoping that my SugarBusters! diet the doc put me on shrunk it enough...cuz I don't wanna wake up without my band lol!!!
  15. okay...I haven't had to do the regular "liquid" diet I hear everyone talking about...my doc put me on SugarBusters! diet, so I actually get to eat food...just not a lot and it's not very good food lol! I am nervous...I hope that I'm doing everything right...I've lost 5 lbs from it...so I think I'm doing okay! Are you on the liquid diet or something else?

  16. Yep!!! Ill add you as my friend...we need to keep each other up to date on our progress...like band buddies!!!

  17. mrslamica

    March bandster!

Congrats!!! Mine is March 12th...I already did my boot camp at the hospital...can't wait till next Friday!!! Good Luck!!!

    Spring into March 2010 Bandsters

The majority of you guys are doing the liquid diet...my doc has me on SugarBusters!...I wonder which is better for me? :/
  19. It's so refreshing to find out that there are other "bandster brides" on here. I will be having my surgery on March 12th and my wedding date is set for Jan 1st 2010. Note- I was NOT engaged when I made the decision to get banded and began my prelim test and meetings, however I am currently engaged and haven't started loosing weight. I am VERY concerned about the dress process. I have NO idea WHAT my body is going to look like and the experts say to allow atleast 1 month for purchasing and 3 months for alterations...so I'm in the same boat with you both!!! I'm not going to begin my shopping until I am atleast down 50 lbs...it would be useless. My goal is to not purchase a plus-size gown...because the choices suck...REALLY bad! My advice would be to go with YOUR gut. Nobody else knows at what rate your body looses weight and I feel that you could make that guesstimation best. I would definately aim for a larger size to be taken in vs. shooting for a smaller size and it being too small...but I do think in your case- TCarroll- you should've insisted on a smaller (14) dress size bc your weightloss was so rapid and CONGRATULATIONS on that! I think these fears and struggles are so unique to our situation because unlike the "oblivious bride" who thinks she'll loose weight before her wedding...we actually will be completely different bodies when we walk down the aisle than when we purchased our dresses for the Big Day. To answer your question...Option 1 sounds better...it is always better to be safe than sorry, and I would rather have the stress of taking in a dress that I already have than have to compromise and purchase a dress that I do not LOVE or one that someone else has tried on and worn
  20. That's my date as well!!! I'm sooo excited...March 12th- here I come!!!:tongue_smilie:

    Spring into March 2010 Bandsters

Very excited!!!! Just got my pre-op and surgery dates for March...guess that officially makes me a March Bandit! About me... my name is Lauren. I began gaining weight after I graduated high school back in 2003. I gained 100lbs in 4 years and another 20 between 2007 and now...I have topped off at 272lbs (as of my first pre-surgery appointment). A portion of my weight gain was a result of my PCOS (Poly-Cystic Ovarian Syndrome) and the other portion was a result of stress-eating and lack of exercise. My goal is to weight 150 lbs by my wedding in January...I'm not making any clothing size goals because I don't know what my body will look like (or how it will fit into clothes for that matter) after I have lost my weight. My overall weightloss goal is get down to 135lbs (which is comfortable for my height and age) but I do not expect to get there by my wedding...that will take a little longer :frown: Date of Surgery: March 12th Where Surgery will be: Palmyra Medical Centers- Albany, GA Doctor/Center: Dr. John Bagnato Seminar date: January 29, 2010 1st consult date: February 10, 2010 Surgeon-required pre-op tests (EKG, chest x-ray, labs) completed: March 2, 2010 Insurance-required Nutrition Consult date: March 2, 2010 Insurance-required Psych Eval date: None needed... How is surgery funded? Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arkansas Concerns? That I will not loose the amount of weight that want to before my wedding...I am committed to a gym as well as eating the things I should but I worry that it's not going to be enough! Reason for banding? I am tired of feeling FAT!!! I have not always been overweight and I have tried every other method of weightloss and come to the conclusion that I need a LIFESTYLE change and a PERMINANT solution. Lap-Band seems to be the best solution for me.
  22. Yay, got my date!!! I go in for Pre-Op March 2nd and my surgery will be March 12th! I'm soooo excited!!!
  23. Yay! I just found out today that my Insurance was accepted...it only took 5 days, next step is scheduling my pre-op tests and schedule my surgery!!! I'M TOTALLY EXCITED!!! I couldn't go to the gym yesterday because my shoulder was KILLING me (pre-existing condition)...I'm hoping my weightloss will also help with my shoulder pain (doc says its a torn rotator cuff, but I think it's nerve damage)...but for now I'll just have to work through the pain and pretend it's not there!
