  1. I'm getting my first fill Monday and I'm counting the hours!!!! I can eat almost anything in almost any quantity, so it's almost as much of a struggle to be good as it was without the band. I do remember when I first had the surgery, there was such a relief in only being able to eat small and forget about food the rest of the time. Looking forward to some of that feeling again.........

I totally agree with you! Last night I felt like a bottomless pit...and my fill is not until after Xmas!!!!:faint:

  2. PS--I just woke up fro, my long nap///my spelling is dreadful! :notagree

I also bought Benefiber and have put it into all of my drinks....it is helping and NO bloating!! I hope I feel well enough tomorrow to actually go for a long walk a round the lake. Other wise I guess I will just roam the Giant Whole Foods again for a couple of hours and walk that way....holding on to my little cart :omg:

I also told lots of people bout the surgery and somehow they think I should be skinny already!! Friends did notice today I had lost weight and I found to workout fluffy warm things to wear to walk around the lake...one was a large....no X and one was a medium!!!!!!!!!:clap2: :clap2: :clap2: I will not attempt to try any pants for a long time since I am soooo big at the bottom!

  3. Hi all,

Well, today is my 4 week anniversary, and the first week I haven't lost anything. I am still at an 18 pound loss. AND I CAN EAT ANYTHING, INCLUDING SALAD!! I am trying so hard not to freak out, since now that I know this, I am being tempted by everything and starting to give in, too. :phanvan So, JDru and Jill, I hear you!! Jill, the salad went down fine, but so did the tacos and chips and salsa.... I need to stay away from Mexican food!! I am leaving for a week's vacation next week, and I don't get my first fill until January. WAAAAAAHHHHH!!!! :faint:

    Karen

OMG Karen...I have been sooolo hungry today! I wen t to lunch with friends and I tought I would only have half of my piece of chicken smothered in cheeese and balack olives.....I ate the wholw thing!!!! I also had part of the rice it came with..... left about half. Then I came home and felt sooooo hungry still I had a Protein Shake with half a banana and some peaenut butter in it! Later I fell Asleep....maybe I needed the calories since i am still fighting this MS stuff. at least that is my excuse and I am sticking to it! :faint:

  4. Has anyone tried salad yet? I am 4 days into my "solid" food and am craving a salad. :hungry: Has anyone tried a salad, and if so how did it go? I have been eating protien & steamed veggies, but just want some fresh lettuce.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks,

    Jill

    Hi Jill,

I also have been afraid to try salad!!! I need one!

  5. Hello everyone, I was banded on 11/2/06 and since then i am down 48.5 pounds. Most of the success is due to fear of pain and going off of liquids and mushies. I hope to keep this eating plan for the next 2 months and be ready for the spring. My best wishes to you all for the holiday seasons. CJay

I applaud you...but be careful with your health....you need Fiber and lots of vitamins!!! Good luck!:clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

  6. Ohhh..vegge that sounds yucky! Althought I follow what you are saying about the experience, I have one silly question...what does "PB" stand for?

I am finding this third week is a bit harder- the scale isn't moving. (I AM very thankful it isn't going up too). Someone mentioned to me that maybe my body thinks it is in "starvation" mode and it it protecting itself from dropping the lbs.. Hmm? Theres a thought. She even suggested maybe I eat just a little bit more to see what happens. What do you all think? I am not eating much at all, so I may try and see what happens. Stay tuned...

    Have a great day everyone.

    Jill

some days eat aboutb800m then go up to 1000 then to 1200 then down to 1000 then to 800 again or yes your body will think it is starvingg!

  7. Well...I had my first PB and it was just as awful as everyone has described it to be... :think However, I am glad that I had that knowledge so I was prepared for what it would be like and it was totally all my fault...

It all happened after I came home from work yesterday and I was just starving. My plan was to have a snack of hummus and pita chips, and I am always so careful, but I think that my hunger got the best of me and I must have been eating too fast, and too big of bites.

I felt the food get stuck in my lower esophogus, it felt like my esophogus was "filled" and I knew that the food was going to come up, but it was stuck and that is what was so terrible. My eyes starting tearing, I felt like I could hardly breath (even though I really could out of my nose) and I panicked. I was all alone and I calmed myself down. In just a few minutes the food came up and all was well. So...chew chew chew, slowly slowly slowly....

So sorry! I know what it is like...I just was lucky enough to not have it come up....I somehow burped and it made it move, but I thought I couldn't breathe...and it hurts!!!:D:)

  8. Hello All. Please could someone tell me what cilantrio is because I haven't heared of it here in England. Maybe I could find something similar. Thank You for your interesting ideas.

Cilantro id also known as coriender...not the seeds, but the green plant itself.. You might ind it in an Indian market.

  9. Karen...as you have read from my posts and e-mails my life has been veery difficult lately...but there is a rainbow somewhere out thee! My cramps are less and less and I was able to walk for several hours today....taking brkaes of course!!!! i did indulge in a Whole Foods Tres Leches cake which is very mushy, but probably has 1000 calorieds!!! but I did walk!! I also went to the store and tried on some smaller sizes.... I ususally wear 2x-3x and I fit in a XL and A 1X!!!! I tad snug, but not much at all! I came home and tried on some smaller clothes and they fit!!!!!!!!!!!!:faint:

Hope you are well...miss you when you are not on...you are such a joy to have around! :clap2: :clap2:

  10. Well...I do not want to sound too graphic....but I was finally able to have a BM...a real one since Nov 7THHHH!!!!!!!!!! It was painful!!! From now on I will buy thta clear fiber!!!! I ma back now safely in Austin... I still hsave some muscle weakness, but it is getting better! I can at least walk now! I do better if I am holding on to something, but I can walk!!! yeah!!!!!!!!!!!

    :clap2:

More good news...I guess I was so stopped up that when I weighed myself this morning I weighed 209!!!!! Instead of the 324 UI had gained to!:clap2:

  11. Ok I have been having a terrible last two days, just terrible...I was banded on 11/20 and am on a liquid diet until this coming wednesday when I see my surgeon again....The problem is....I ate a huge piece of eggplant parm today, WHY? I have been struggling so much and I am so happy I am banded and just want to do what I can to lose weight.......Why am I doing this to myself...How did you guys stay on track until a fill cause I have no restriction at all....Please help me, absolutely any words of encouragement would be helpful I feel so bad right now...thanks

I am not telling you to cheat, but if you have the urge to eat soemthing....blend it! Make it into a very thin mushy!!!! It helps!! And it will not h urt you! Also make sure it is just a small piece! :D

  12. great idea.....except for me:

    1) I don't fly. Anywhere. Ever.

    2) I don't cruise ship. Anywhere. Ever.

    3) I don't leap into the ocean. Ever. The salt Water is bad for my prosthesis.

Other than that, being in the company, even briefly, with such incredible creatures, seems like it would be a wonderful experience, from what I've read by those who have done it.

Jack, we could just give you a shot to sleep while flying and you won't even know it!!! The Water will be good for your prosthesis....leg? Luv ya!

  13. Angela, I guess it depends on whether you're the type of person with a glass half-empty or half-full on how you view your current weight. You're looking at it that you're up 4 pounds from your previous weight. I see it that you're down 7 pounds from your pre-surgery weight which was less than 4 weeks ago. That's nearly 2 pounds a week! (How many weeks pre-surgery did you lose at that rate?)

I think you're goal of 2-4 pounds in a week is a bit lofty and might do more to damage your morale than give you motiviation. Set REALISTIC goals and acheive those. If you find more modest goals are easily acheived, raise the bar and set higher goals. Why not set a goal of 1 pound for the week? If you lose 2-4, you're be much prouder of yourself then if you set the "2-4" goal and lose only 1 pound. The weight "game" is a mental one. We all have to change our outlook and the first step is to feel good about our accomplishments. Pat yourself on the back feels SO much better than beating yourself up.

    Tom

As it is I have been really sick in bed or imn ER and gaining w I have not lost one single pound since the first week of surgery and have gained instead and have problems.... If I do not see some results I am going to think that all thejh pain and trouble I have gone through since surgery has been for nothing.... just because we do not have a fill yet does not give us an excuse to not lose some weight.... I need some encouragement not a scolding.....

  14. Hi.

  16. Since you all are new with the band I have a question? I was banded last Fri 11/24 and every time I try to get Soup or anything down I get a very sharp pain in my left shoulder. Is it because when I put something in my stomach it is releasing the gas that went into my body during surgery??

I am not sure what it is? Do you have any info or has anyone else experienced this? Thanks, Vikki

    Sip very slowly and little sips....take your time....eat a Gas x after./
