  1. if you are and adult child of an alcoholic you may attend meetings. the death of parents cant change that. my father has been in recovery for 30 years. he sponsers and goes to many meetings. i never saw him drunk, but i go to meetings. the status of your parents, sober or deceased does not change anything.

  2. hi pete. i used to work and live in jupiter. i worked at jupiter medical center and had two surgeries there. great hospital. i recommend the hospital. i had my surgery in mexico with dr.daniel huacuz. i think he is super. if you can get your surgery close to home than i think it is better . i miss jupiter. i used to catch snook right off the shore at the jupiter inlet. good luck with your journey. did you do any research on the sleeve? hope all goes well with you.

  3. i think you are facing big decisions with big consequences. it may be a good idea to write down all your feelings and what you plan to do. but,,, maybe wait a while before you do anything. the emotions you are going through are driving you. you want to make decisions based on intelligence not emotions......... i am in now way saying you should tolerate your situation, just take time ......... take care of yourself and i hope things get better for you.

  4. i can understand you not wanting to go. i go to vegas a lot. i will tell you that most people are totally relaxed and on vacation. everyone chilling. it may be just what you need. your man wants you there. most guys want to go alone. tells me you must be wanted.. i think you should be there for your man and try to make him happy. if hes happy then arent you happy.

  5. julia, i was eating compulsively. the band stopped me from eating too much and i lost the weight. once my body adjusted to less food and healthy food, i felt better and lost the interest in food. then i went through a stage of being almost anorexic. now i think after 3 years ive finally got it together. if you go to all the trouble to do this, make sure you follow the rules and set correct healthy habits from the start. i eat ice cream once in a while now. but that was my fat food before so i stayed away for over 2 years.. i will always have to be conscious of my eating...... i stay very active . good luck to you.

  6. sounds like you are doing some grieving. when my boyfriend died i was 38. his name was jake and he had the coolest dog named jack. they were both shot on our new boat, a wedding to be present from his dad. life was so good for us. he was a federal agent. i lost my best friend , then i found out i was pregnant and felt so happy to know i would have a piece of him forever. then i lost the baby. i had to fight everyday to get out of bed . nothing helped. i gained 100lbs and never went out for almost a year, except work. i used the weight as protection. i was never going to let anyone in again. never gonna get hurt again. later when i recovered from the grief and depression, i wanted to lose the weight and feel good again. well i did lose the weight but it is still a struggle to let people back in. i had to force myself to get involved... mostly i work with microfinancing for the poor. i still dont let people close to me like i want to , but change is hard and it takes time. you have this new body and maybe have yet to find your own style and sense of self in it. i think we all realize that the weight loss makes us feel better physically and we look better. but the insides take time to adjust and to heal. the important thing is to try to focus on the good things and how far we have come. i think each person has a unique factor involved along with the common factors. i hope you can enjoy your success. its like you moved to a new house in a new town and nothing seems familiar ..... but one day you wake up and you realize you are home. i may not know how you feel, but i can relate to pain and suffering and isolation. hope its all uphill from here.

  7. the first 2 years with the lapband were a breeze. no trouble. now i cant seem to get my fills just right. im taking out all my fill . if i had to do over id do the same thing. but it hasnt always been easy. hope you can make the right choice for you and your lifestyle.

  8. wow. how frustrating. you sound like you understand management. i love the books by JOHN C. MAXWELL. he is a great help to me. he has one book called winning with people. i wont go into great detail. but i recommend you buy this book and read it. it will help you in all areas of your life. maybe you could share with her some of the knowledge in the book. try to keep the focus on your job and your performance. i love the serenity pray... about changing the things we can.... i like that you care about the company you work for and the future success. i myself work alone for most of the nite. but i do a large amount of PR for my hospital. promoting good relationships between departments through education and caring. it takes great skill to approach people about work issues without putting them on the defense. i try to start with the line...." i have a problem, maybe you can help me " great leaders are people willing to humble themselves and be servents to others, it requires sacrifice and more sacrifice. i think a good attitude is so important and you sound like you have that going for you also. i try to be the employee that i would want working for me if i was the owner.............. good luck and really really i say go get the book. it will pump you up and improve your mood.

  9. personally, i think having the right doctor is everything. if i didnt like or feel totally 100 percent confident in my doctor, then i would be nervous too . i think you should shop around. i went to mexico so i wouldnt have to deal with waiting and insurance bullshit. i was lucky to afford to go. i hope you can find a better doctor. one who will encourage and support you. good luck. the surgery to me was a breeze. my doctor uses the best drugs available. that was my biggest concern. i did not want to get sick from the anesthesia. i didnt. so ask about that....... good luck.

  10. i have never heard one bad thing about dr.kuri. i was going to go to him originally, but then i heard about dr.huacuz and went with him. but, like i said ....ive never heard anything bad about him. i went to dr. huacuz cause i wouldnt have to wait and it was cheaper..... im totally glad i did, but if i was you i would not be afraid to go to dr.kuri. good luck

  11. THAT WAS GREAT. im glad you posted. i always get my fills with floro and have my doctor check it for slips . i learned that being too tight doesnt help you in the long run. its not a race........ its about improving our health as safely as possible. newbies need to read this............. i was just in hawaii. nice.

  12. GRACE. good post. i find that stess is my bands worst enemy. i have hard time to eat when stressed. but i also dont lose when im stressed. so, im trying to make a few changes. i think im too driven and goal oriented at times. but if i try to chill and sit around on the couch i get stressed about all i could be doing and then i get up and get moving. the best relaxation for me is pool time in the sun. i ride and work out . reading at nite helps. what do other driven women do to chill out. do other women feel like they have to always be improving , like your income and amount of real estate you have and improving at your job. someone at work told me im too intense. i was like ...what ....im totally laid back. they said no way........ i love those little moments of insight through someone else perspective. so my question is what do you do to chill and why are some people so type A. i want to be one of those laid back kind of chicks that are always saying, no problem....

  13. I ALWAYS get my fills under floroscopy. i have had two times when i had unfills done without floro, but it was only because my doctor in mexico was away on business and not mexico. i recommend that you check out your possibilities for fills with floro and the cost. i know it is expensive...but when you cant even get fluids down, you dont care ....youd sell your soul for relief......... i go to mexico so i dont have to wait. but for me it is only 4.5 hour drive..... if you are in denver area you may want to check out fill center usa. some facilities do the fills with floro...... good luck. i totally agree that the fills with floro are so much better..... i also like to see my band and know that it is still in the correct place. no slips.....

  14. you lost 60lbs in one year? that is great. you hit a bump in the road, ive been there. i hope you will be ok. the weight came off slower for me after the first year. ive gained about 10 lbs back since i quit the smokes. it is frustrating, but try to stay positive and keep trying. how much more do you want to lose.......

  15. when i go to mexico for my fills, i make it a one stop shopping trip too. i get my botox done , usually get a massage and pedicure.... get my Vitamin B12 shots and whatever drugs i need. i also sometimes go ride on the beach in rosarito........ i lay by the pool for a day and get lots of sleep. i try to make it a mini vacation. my little beauty weekend .

  16. snowbird, for your information, dr.huacuz is a very honest and talented surgeon. he cares for his patients. i know many of the people that post good things about him. they are his real patients. i dont work for him and im a real patient that has lost 100lbs and had 3 surgeries so far by him. anyone considering him for the lapband should feel safe and confident.... i send my friends to him. he is a good doctor . do you know him? or are you going by what someone else told you? i am talking from experience........ he has a very nice clinic and wonderful staff. i was treated first class all the way. i had my eyes and arms done at his clinic also. he did a great job on my arms. no pain or infection. they have healed beautifully....... im very impressed by dr. huacuz......... i recommend him because i know him and im one of many who will continue to support him .........i have read some of the negative things on here and i wonder if they are REAL patients.
