  1. I have gained 5 lb over the holidays, but I was faced with the "perfect storm"....I had been overfilled and my Dr took out all but 2 cc from my band on Dec 14 (perfect timing huh?) PLUS it was the holidays, PLUS the weather here and extra holidays chores did away with my exercise routine!!! YIKES. But I see the Dr today for a re-fill (hubby tried tot alk me into waiting until next week so we could have New Years ton "continue the celebration" but I know how that would go) so I am back on track. I had just gotten to the point where I was losing regularly and don't want to give that up. My surgery was in March but I did not get to my sweet spot until late August and that is when regular (but admittedly slow) loss began. Ready for 2011 and my goal!!

Don't beat yourself up about it - you can either keep headed the way that you are and focus on what you did "wrong" - or just chalk it up to the holidays and having a treat and focus on getting back on track and seeing results again. I did the same thing - man I fell off the wagon big time! I think I ate more sweets and treats than I had in a year! But I decided it wasn't worth it to dwell on what was done, it is better to focus on the future and getting things moving in the right direction again. Chin up - you can do it! :)

    Hang in there!

  2. Well, I went to my appointment last Thursday and the Dr was pleased with the loss. I told he about my concerns and we discussed the circumstances around the times that I had problems. Came to conclusion that it was likely due to me eating too fast or taking too big of bites. I decided to give it a little time and since then have been very conscious of taking VERY small bites and not eating too fast. NO PROBLEMS since then and the weight loss is continuing.

When I told him about the day that I absolutely could not eat, I recalled that the night before we had company and I ate chicken breast without any problems. He suggested that the chicken from the night before may have been the problem since meat moves very slowly through the pouch as there are no stomach acids and that if it were still present, I would be too full to accept anything else the next morning. Made sense and because things have gone well since, I don't think I need an unfill. YAY!

  3. I am so confused! I got my band in late March 2010 and have had very little weight loss until recently. When I got my 4th fill 3 weeks ago I had only lost 10 lb total. I had finally notice a little restriction after fill # 3, but that seemed to "loosen up" after a couple of weeks and I was pretty much able to eat anything and LOTS of it, so I got the 4th fill. That one REALLY made a difference and I have gone down another 9 lb in the 3 weeks since. I love that, but my concern is that I might be a bit over-filled....how do I know? I am really limited in what I can eat most days (but that seems to vary from day to day). One day last weekend I was able to eat "normal" food in small portions but the next day I could hardly eat at all! liquids are no problem, but on the days I feel especially tight I cannot even manage scrambled eggs or oatmeal.

I have an appointment this afternoon and don't know if I need to ask to have a little taken out or not. I love losing weight...finally...but know that is is not healthy and would be counter-productive in the long run if I don't get adequate nutrition. Any advice?

  4. WOW!!! I am impressed and (I must admit) a bit jealous! I had my surgery several weeks before you and I have only lost 9 lb! I had my 3rd fill last week and only just then began to feel any restriction. 4 of the lb i have lost have been since then. (The size 12's in my closet still seem like a distant dream :grouphug:

Couldyou share anything about your routine, what kinds (and how much) you are eating, and what kind of exercise. We seem to have very similar statistics (except I am likely a good bit older) and I would appreciate any "tips".

I am very happy for you tho!

  5. I was banded on March 25 and have not had much success since then. I did lose about 6 lb in the first couple of weeks, but it has returned. Right now I am down just 7 lb TOTAL from my initial weight! I am so frustrated. I am walking every day and following my Dr recommendations about eating (altho his instructions were vague). He says 1/2 cup total per meal. I do that and don't drink with my meal, but I am starving in an hour. I can eat anything I want too. I am making an effort to eat less, but am not sure it is enough. I had one fill 2 weeks ago but cannot tell any difference at all. I have a second scheduled in mid-May. ANy suggestions? It seems nuts to me that I have made this huge commitment and still feel (and look) like I did 6 months ago!

  6. My surgery was 3-25 so I am not even 2 weeks out yet, but I am excited for you about your fill. My surgery seems a long time ago! I have been back at work for over a week and feel pretty "normal" (exept that I am still on liquids!) I feel great and don't have any issues with eating (don't think I have any restriction at all!) FIrst follow up apt is Friday so we will see where it goes from that.

Be sure and post after your fill and let us know how it is!

  7. Hi! This is my first post. I was banded on 3-25-10 and am doing great...I think. I came home the same day as surgery and snoozed for most of the day but was able to sleep in my bed (back and right side). Though I might have to sleep in a chair/ottoman, but was more comfortable in bed. On Friday and over the weekend I had no significant issues. Was able to be up and walking but rested alot. No pain meds after Friday. No problem tolerating liquids. LOTS of gas (worst pain was shoulder pain on the afternoon of surgery but that passed). I still feel the almost constant need to burp, but it doesn't really "hurt".

I went back to work on Monday, but just for a few hours (and I mostly sit). Got pretty tired so went home and took a long nap. BTW, since Saturday, I have been able to sleep on my left-port-side, which is natural for me so that is good.

I am working today, but plan to leave by 3,

I worry a little that I am not getting enough nutrition. I am on "clear liquids" for 2 weeks (until my 1st postop visit). That means only Water, crystal lite, sf Jello and popsicles and broth. I have almost NO engergy. Last night I decided to have a low cal Protein drink (I had been told to avoid the shakes because of high calories but this only had 120 and 30 gr protein) After that I felt much better. I dont know if I can go for 2 full weeks on the clear stuff! BUt I am down 12 lb since my last preop visit and 10 since the date of surgery, so that is a little solace:smile:
