  1. Hi there,

Just saw your post in the "exercise" thread and noticed you are from Arab. I live in Cullman. Where did you have your surgery? Sounds like you are making great progress. Congratulations!

  2. Hi there,

I was just looking at my archived messages and saw that we were banded on the same day. Just checking in to see how you are doing.

My weight losss has been discouragingly SLOW, but I finally am able to see at least a little bit of progress. It took 3 adjustments before I had any restriction at all. I recently had #4 and now have seen a bit of loss. I am down a total of only 12 lb since March, which is much less than I had hoped for. However, I have not gained (even on a 2 wk vacation) and that is a victory for me these days!

I hope you are well and pleased with your progress. I would love to hear from you!

  3. Hi there,

I was just reading some posts in the Low BMI group and saw yours. I know it has been quite a while since you posted and you may not be viewing this anymore, but wanted to check. OUr stories seem similar and I would love to swap tales! Sara in Ala

  4. Hi Joyce. THis is Sara in Ala. We had exchanged messages a couple of times in the spring. I was banded on 3-25. Just checking in to see how it is going with you. This process has been SLOW for me. I have had 3 adjustments and only now just begun to feel some restriction. Weight loss has been pretty non-existent, although I think I am down about 4 lb in the past 3 weeks, so that is something. I am trying to stay patient. HOpe yours is going great! Sara

  5. Hi Melissa,

Just got your msg from THursday. Guess we are ALL busy! Yes, things are going well. Healing well (but itchy too). Saw my Dr for 1st visit last Friday and he was pleased. 11 lb loss so that it OK I guess (it really does fluctuate right now). I am set for a fill on 4-29. Kinda wish it was sooner, but... I don't have any restriction. I am on "soft food" now but that seems a little vague. I did not have an appetite for about a week, but then it WOKE UP! I am looking forward to the fill so that it will calm down those urges again. So far so good, I guess. I am REALLY ready to get some restriction and get this going! :) As you may guess, patience is not my strong suit. HOpe things continue to go well for you!! Keep me posted.

  6. Hi there! I saw an older post of yours on the Low-BMI thread and noticed that our situations are kind of similar. I'm 59, banded 2 wk ago and have about 60 to lose. Just wondering what life is like as far down the road as you are? Sara in Alabama

  7. My surgery went well. Should pain too and alot of bloated feeling, but no real pain. I was off pain meds by Fri nite. I am back at work today (but I sit alot). Email out at home, so this is my first chance to write. I have had some trouble drinking enough since I feel so full all of the time! Not hungry yet, so that is no a problem. I can sleep fine, even on my side. Hooray. Please stay in touch! Sara

  8. Thanks, Melissa. Yes, I am getting excited, but not scared. I did not sleep much last night, tho. No kids at home, so that is not an issue for me. I am going crazy trying to tie up all the "loose ends" at work to free me up for a few days.

WOn't find out my surgery time until noon today. I hope it is EARLY (esp since I can't eat or drink before hand). I spent a little time at church this morning praying for healing and for calm. So are so good. I will keep you in my prayers, esp in the morning. Hope it is PERFECT. Will be in touch when we are on the other side!

  9. Melissa, I had written a LONG post but had to abbreviate it. WOn't do it all again, but will say that I will be thinking positive thoughts on Thursday for you. I will be in touch after but it may be a couple of days :)

  10. Hi Melissa,

I know what you mean about last minute jitters. I "know" what I am getting into, but how can I really KNOW how I will feel once it is done? I too eat for emotional reasons, and can acknowledge that fact even while I am doing it....go figure! I have never been able to figure out how a woman who is smart and successful in so many areas can be so dumb about this! The result is that I have battled my weight all my adult life. I was "holding my own" until about 10 years ago and have consistently gained 5-6 lb a year during this time, regardless of how many diets, programs, pillls, "systems", etc. I have used (or abused). I am just sick of it all. I have a great life....good job, wonderful kids, fabulous supportive husband, but my weight is really bringing me down and I just feel that I have do something drastic to make the kind of change that I want/need.

  11. Hi there. I just saw where you are scheduled for 3-25. Me too! I am getting so excited, just trying to tie up a few loose ends in my "other life" so that I can relax and take care of myself for a few days. I would love to share this journey with you. I am a 58 year olf woman (married with 2 grown children) living in Alabama.

  12. Hi there. I just did the "March surgery" poll and see that you are scheduled for the 25th. Me too. I am more excited than nervous at this point and SO ready to get started with what I am convinced will be the best decision I could possibly have made. I am 58 and live in Ala. I have "only" about 60 lb to lose, but it might as well be a million based on my past history! I wish you good luck!
