Hi, my daughter and I are being banded on the 14th also. Keep in touch and let me know how you are doing. We are having a big snow and Ice storm today and we have to be at the hospital at 6am. I just hope the freeway is cleared up enought to get there. Good luck. Debbie

Hi paige, Thank, I sure hope that 75 South is in better condition in the morning about 4:30 or 5 am....It usually take's us about a half hour to get to his office, but with this weather I think we will need to leave pretty early. I never, never ever sleep when I have to leave that early in the morning for something, so I should be so tired that they may have a hard time getting me up to walk around. LOL Hope all goes well with everyones up coming band day. Debbie

I love this site... I am having surgery tomorrow and so is my daughter, If we can get there. We live in Oh and we are having a very bad snow and Ice storm today..UGH. This site helped up both decide to have the band done. We read this everyday and if we miss reading it we feel like we missed something important that we need to know. lOL Debbie

Nurse Teresa, They wanted to put the filter in because I have had 3 SF blood clots in my left leg. I have very bad vain's in both of my legs. They are so ugly but I have to deal with it. They also hurt and swell all the time. It was just the card's that I was dealt. I hope we can get to the hospital on Weds, with this snow storm coming in. I live in Huber and if 75 is clear we should have a streight shot. I have to be there by 6am. UGH...I am a night person. LOL OHraintreeacres..glad to hear that you are feeling so great..that gives me hope that I will also. LOL Paige, hope you are doing well too. Hello Miss Purple, First of all, I have been over weight all my life. I have also had the same problems that you have and I do feel for you. To top it all off, my beautiful daughter followed in my foot steps. Its all in our genitics here with us. I bet your dad never has been over weight or had his feelings hurt like all of us. My daughter and I both are having it done together on the 14th and I hope it will make our lifes much better. If we would have known about the lap band when she was 16 or even myself, I would SAY...GO FOR IT AND BE HEALTHY AND HAPPY. Good luck with everything.

Hi Paige, Testing went well and we learned a lot. Wish we could have had lunch with you girls. Maybe in March... My daughter and I both are now getting very nervous. She has never been put under or been in a hospital. I did have to have a filter put in my neck last Thursday just in case I get any blood clots. That was a little weird. He put it in my neck and it goes down toward my legs in the stomach area. I bruised behind my ear pretty bad, but not on the neck where he put it in. What did you eat the day before your surgery? Its nice that we didn't have to do a liquid diet I have bought gas x tablet, my vitimans, my protein powder and I still need to go get some gause and tape. SF jello, SF pudding, Sf Popcycles and broth. Am I missing anything? Just say a prayer for us. Hope everyone else is doing great! :clap2:

Dose anyone know why she hated her mother so much? I was just wondering if anyone knew. I loved my mother very much and I saw the hate in her eyes when she talked about her....Any Clue's what the reason was?

I have felt that way too. So has my daughter. I had wonderful parents of normal weight, but I took back after my grandmother on my mothers side. From the time I was in first grade, I was made fun of and everything else you can think of. I did have some very close friends that never made me feel differnent. I did slim down in high school by starving myself.. I turned green and that was when my mom made me eat, and eat I did for her that day..After I was married and had kids I gained and lost a hundred pounds and now I am at my largest. So hang in there we are being banded on Feb 14th. Good luck. Debbie

Hi Paige, I will have to meet you ladies another time:cry We have our work up at the hospital that day and I will have to be back to the hospital by 12:30. My daughter and I still might try to run up to Bob Evans if we have enought time between our appointments. Blood work and then some type of class that last until 3:00. Good luck to all of you. Hi, I have BC/BS federal through my husband. I was not required to do anything, diet or otherwise. My daughter and I both were approved! Having it done on Feb 14th. Where in OH do you live. We live in Ohio also.

Hello again, There is not need to ware a vale. I never did and not many other's did either. I would ware shirts with sleves. Not long but above the elbow. It is a respect thing, but you will see some women with sleveless shirts and short shorts...not good. I mostly wore capri pants.. As for fabric, yes there a ton of places to buy it. Some are off the beaten path.....I wouldn't go off far from the tourist places. A few of us did that on time and by the time I got home I felt like I walked throuht there with my head cut off. Anyway that was just because of the way we were looked at because we at there local shopping places, not for tourist. LOL It was great fun but we NEVER did that again and we even had a man with us. I understand what you mean not touching the animals! I am a huge lover of animals and my daughter is also. So everytime we saw them we just wanted to run up and grab them. Not all of them have Rabie's but who know's which one might. We had to have them vet checked and all shot's, health record's and so on to bring them back. Not something you can do in a few days. By the way, how long are you going to be there? Also keep your money close to you or your purse. It is very crowded and people walk very close to you, just be aware. You will also be able to buy scarf's at the Khan and while you are there, go to Moustafa's, he had a lot of nice things that you will enjoy and again tell him hello for us. He has beautiful glass perfume bottles, nice T shirts, to much to mention. Just ask anyone how to get there and they will tell you and most will even walk you to his store. It is close to the gold place that I told you about. Again have a wonderful trip and let me know how you liked it. Debbie

Hi everyone, we had our Dr's appointment today and we (my daughter and I ) are being banded On Feb 14th 07. Our Dr is David Schumacher/ Kettering Baraiatrics, Ohio. They had the appointment for Valentine's day or a week later.....we didn't want to wait, so we will remember this Valentine's day forever. LOL Good luck to all, Debbie

Hi everyone, Well we are all set for Feb 14th 2007! My daughter and I went today and spoke to the Dr and got everything set up for that day. It was either Valentine's day or a week later. We decited to make it a memorable Valentine's day! LOL We are being banded by Dr. David Schumacher. I noticed that a lot of you have him as your Dr, so I hope we can meet you all. Just keep us in your prayers and good luck you all of you as well. WE are very excited about starting a new way of life. Debbie

Hi, first of all make sure you drink only bottled water. The food in the hotels should be fine to eat. Out on the roadside stands or the real Egyptain food places....just don't do it. We did, and we got sick. But we lived there, and I don't want your vacation ruined. Take toilet paper with you wherever you go. They try to sale it to you because they don't put it in the bathrooms. Also, don't eat anything you can't peel. Hotel food SHOULD? Be fine. We ate that and had no problems. The Khan El Khalili is wonderful !!! Lots of history there for sure. If you want to buy Gold that is the place to do it at. We shopped for our gold at Gouzlan's. If you go in there and talk to Momdua...spelled wrong. But he is a short little man that speaks wonderful english. Tell him that Mr. Allen and Miss Debbie Luff sent you. Also that we miss them very much. The Museum is HUGE, so have on your walking shoe's. And take tons of Pictures. They won't let you take them of the mummys. As for Sharm El Sheik.....one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. I have never been in water with that much salt... watch your eyes. We stayed at the Move n pick while we were there. After you have been in Cairo and you go to Sharm, it will look like a different world..Much cleaner than Cairo. Buy the things made by the Bedouins, most of there things are beautiful. As far as the Arabic, they love it when you try to speek there language. Watch out for the stray dogs and cats. There at thousands of stray cats. A lot of them have rabies. Did you take a rabie shot? We did. But we also found two kittens and raised them while we were there. We still have them. We were there from 2001-2003. We still have some friends there too, in Maddi. If you do go to Maddi, make sure you go to Road 9 and do some shopping. At the Kahn, everyone will be saying, come into my shop... come into my shop, everywhere you go. It's so funny. I give you the best price. Always talk them down in there price, they love that too, and you get a better price. If you have any Questions feel free to email me again. Hope you have a wonderful time. Hi to all the Ohio Bandsters! I am not banded yet but I was approved last week, both myself and my daughter. We have appointments with Dr Shumacher on Jan 27, O7.... Thank God. My daughter has been reading a lot on Lapband talk and now that we have an Ohio group she has been reading this as well and seen that a few of you were banded my our Dr. She has looked at the pictures of the operation sites on the belly and wanted to know if Dr Shumacher uses staples?? Just wondering because some of the pictures of the ones that have had the staples left more scar's than others. Any in put will be great. Hope to meet some of you soon. Debbie

Hi, I just found out that my daughter and I have been approved for the Band!! We don't have a date yet because I don't even think our Dr know's we were approved yet. LOL I think a clothing swap would be great because later on, we both are going to be in need of different sizes. I think we need to keep in mind of age groups, and styles of clothing for each other because I am 50 and my daughter is only 21. But we do trade our some of our things. Just a thought.

Gail, I noticed that you were banded in March 06. You have lost weight very fast. What Or how have you been eating. I know that sounds funny, but I am waiting on the approval from my insurance to be banded. So when I get it I want it to work to my advanatage and lose fast like you. Thanks for the info.
