    Weeks 2-4 Post-op Recipes ?

    Sure no problem :-)
  2. I wouldn't say that the surgical team is to blame. Before I was banded I thought the same way as you, I thought I knew that oh I wont lose a lot of weight until I start getting my fills and Im at restriction and I knew not to be discouraged and upset about not losing. It all changed once I was banded. In my head I know how it works and I know what is suppose to happen and what is not... but it doesn't change the fact that I am annoyed by the sudden stop in weight lost. You see weight loss for a good 2-3 weeks everyday and then it just stops! It's not easy to just not get discouraged, even though I knew what to expect. How can you not be discouraged if you gain weight? I will prolly freak out if I gain any weight. I couldn't imagine, I worked so hard to get here and then I gain!
  3. I was scared to eat at first also. At this point a lot of food will go down fine since your prolly have an open band. I can no longer eat as much as I use to. I do get that "stop eating feeling" after a little bit a food and it holds me off for 4-5 hours. I did once eat to much (which wasnt even a lot) and I felt that my stomach was going to explode I was so full. I now know why they tell you to stop once you first feel full. I was allowed to add spices to my foods, it makes a difference! I am not getting as much Protein that I am required either. I just bought some protein shots online that I am hoping will help. I try to add tofu to whatever I can for the extra protein. THe scale finally moved 1 pound where it has been stuck for 5 days. Normally I would be so happy, but this just seems ick! lol

    Red Jello/Beef Broth??

If your on clear liquids this might be a different story but I never had to go on clear liquids, just liquids and was able to eat both things.

    Red Jello/Beef Broth??

I was never told not to have either of these before surgery. It all depends on your doctor. Its best to follow his rules instead of going by what you read on here, everyone is different!
  6. I eat ground chicken, it goes down fine :-)

    Weeks 2-4 Post-op Recipes ?

Check out http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f82/mushies-stage-recipes-17637/index9.html , there are tons there! I am allowed potatoes and i have made them every which way possible. lol I also am a big chicken eater, but its not really mushy and I could never ever be hungry enough to puree my meats. The idea of it just sounds gross. But I did buy some ground chicken. Its on the softer side. I chew it till its mushed in my mouth, It might not be allowed but its actually really soft!
  8. Im at that point. Ive been on mushies for a week now and I have one more to go. Im at the point where if its soft enough for me to chew into mush, im eating it. It keeps me full, Im just looking for more options.
  9. Butterfly... be thankful you lost that 11 pounds since surgery.. Im stuck at 5!!!! I know how annoying and frustrating it is and it seems very hard to lose during the mushy stage. Just keep your head in the game and remember what you are fighting for! Let your body heal and the weight will start coming off soon!
  10. I was told if they dont cover bariatric surgery in your policy there isnt anything you can do.
  11. I needed pretty much nothing. Lol . I did fill my prescription before hand, but never needed it. I bought gas-x strips, but they didn't help. I did use extra strength tylenol before I went to bed the first few nights. I didnt really do much but lay around for the first 4-5 days, so maybe some movies!
  12. About 3 days post op I took some milk of magnesia. It helped.
  13. Ya, I know that I need time to heal, but its like ugh! You know? Im finally banded I just want it to start working. LOL. I know thats not the way it works, but I wish it was. You def should be happy with 64 pounds down. 10 pounds a month is pretty good, thats what I would like to see.

  14. Im not able to feel my port (although I havent really pushed down hard enough) but I know where it is because I can feel it kinda pulling inside me.

    Liquid Diet!

Let them know this. It isnt the same everywhere. I walked into my operation room and laid on the bed in there before they put me to sleep.
  16. Well I was just banded the 17th. I lost 34 pounds before surgery and only 5 since the 17th. Its kind of frustrating, but I cant expect much, all i did for the first week was lay around and recover. I need to start working out. Im looking forward to being able to eat normal foods * one more week* so I can make better choices and I need to start working out and then hopefully I will start seeing the scale move a bit more!

  17. OK, i feel a lot better now. I felt so discouraged when I heard you lost 22 pounds after being banded! I lost 34 before surgery, the first 40 pounds come off the easiest, it seems like all down hill after that lol !!!

    Am I a lair?

Ya it is a big gym, my personal trainer knows I had the surgery because I had to stop seeing him while I heal. 10k is a lot of money and it will bring me out of my credit card debt (those school loans are still a killer though). Sign up is next weekend and I think I am just going to go sign up and hopefully no one asks me any questions! 10k is a huge motivation! haha There was one season when one of the guys had gastric bypass, lost weight and then gained it all back. So if they did, they would have prolly told us about it. The new winner, mike, he lives around me and my friend is his personal trainer at the gym he works out at. He has lost over 200 pounds all by himself. During this season they did bring season ones winner on the show, and he did gain a lot of the weight back!

    Am I a lair?

My gym is having a get fit contest and i am thinking about joining. Its 12 weeks. I just got banded and its not like the weight is flying off. First place is 10k.... I have so many school debt that its hard for me to tell myself not to try and join and win that money. Is it really the unfair ?!?!?

5 days post op - questions

I was told to start walking for 30 min a day as soon as I can, but it also said that if I am not up to doing that start off with 5 and move my way up. I couldnt even stand straight for a good 5 days so walking for more then to the bathroom and back was all I was doing too. Walking made my gas pains worse and it was the last thing on my mind. On monday I will be two weeks post op and I think I am going to try and start working out again, slowly but surely. The weight has stopped coming off and I dont like it!!! I also was not able to get my protein in. I still cant get all my protein in, I get full very quickly and theres no way I can meet my protein or water requirements right now. Someone mentioned protein shots and I am looking into them...how expensive! But for now, without being on normal foods it seems to be my best option. Good Luck! Feel better :-)

    Banded Yesterday and . . .

Congrats on being banded! The first 4-5 days were really rough for me. By day 7 I was feeling myself again, although a little tired, but I was ready to start moving again!
  22. Did you lose any weight before surgery?

    5 Days Post surgery

You should really follow what your surgeon tells you to do. It prolly isnt the worse thing you could have done. But mash potatoes are fattening!!
  24. Same for me! I get way to full for all that!
