Unfortunately, we're not doing a condo - so 'take home/doggie bag' stuff will have to be limited. My plan is to order the most wonderful appetizers for dinner. Of couse, I can always have a bite of someone else's dinner also (to taste). I'm actually kind of wondering how they'll 'take' to me doing that. Here in the US - every place has been kind enough to let me do that - or order off the kids menu. I'm the type of person that on vacation - I always LOOSE weight, b/c of how active I am. I am constantly in the Water, swimming, snorkeling, walking the beach - you name it. So, I'm hoping its the same this time around. I'm shooting for 4 pounds down! HA! I'm also thinking of the $ I'll save at the bar. I can nurse one of their wonderful $14 cocktails for hours - and get a good buzz on from that. No more $50 happy hour swim up bar tabs!

Weirdest(perhaps even cool??) feeling ever...
sherilynn replied to blahblahblah's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Awwwww, you too. Mushy, Mushy!!! -
Hi Arin, I was diagnosed about a year ago. Found it while getting all my pre surgical testing done. I was devestated. Went on 500mg of Glucovance 2x day. I would say about three weeks post surgery, I was being over medicated, with extremely low blood sugars. Most recently, my endo. pulled me off meds, b/c I was too low ALL of the time. So now my sugars are a bit 'higher', averaging about 124 - 138. But I'm better to be too sweet than not. It's not the band that makes the diabetes 'go away'. It's the weight loss that helps.

...still no word on her whereabouts? Maybe she's just doing ALOT of retail therapy. She's lost so much...I'm sure that's what it is!

This was a HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE concern of mine. Now, all these months later - it's really a NON-issue. Trust me, once you learn or experience the 'feeling' that is or can be associated with putting Water into the stoma after a meal - you won't WANT to drink anything while eating. It can be a VERY unpleasant feeling. Either way; once you get into the habit; it's nothing you'll even think about. I WILL say, that if I'm at work - I set a timer to know when my 30 minutes have lapsed. Quite often - I don't even look at it again until well over 1 hour has passed.

I went to my surgeon yesterday; I had my 1 month after fill appointment (gimme a break!) Good news; I lost another 5 pounds (and that's with PMS!!) I was actually SO excited to hear the news - I really was! I am getting compliments all the time at work. My Dad even said "Hey Skinny" - made me feel good. I had asked the surgeon about my chart. I wanted to know what my starting BMI was. And like a lightening rod and in one breath he shrieked out "You started at 45 BMI, you're at 37 BMI now. BUT YOU ARE STILL MORBIDLY OBESE". Ya know….jerk - talk about stealing my thunder! Let me enjoy the 5 pound loss! Let me appreciate the fact that I'm brining my BMI DOWN. No need to remind me of what I am. I KNOW I have more weight to loose. So insensitive. Needless to say; he was MORE THAN HAPPY to have me schedule my next adjustment. At this point, I'll be down to adjusting with tiny amounts to get to the sweet spot. (at least I hope).

I wish I could. It's been 4 days - and I still can't get his voice out of my head. And I know I have to - soon. He just made me (I let him) feel so low. OK - I'M OFFICIALLY OVER HIM. Thankfully, in his practice - he did my surgery and does my follow up visits. It's his partner who does my fills. Honestly though - that guy isn't much better with his comments. He's the guy who told me at my last fill "You're really on the slow end of the loosing. Maybe it's time to consider the bypass". It took me a few days to get over that comment also. IIIIIIIIII feel good about what I've accomplished. True; it's not a FAST process for me. True, I'm not yet at a 'healthy' BMI. But - damn it; I FEEL GOOD. Ok Dr. A and Dr. B - BITE ME! :heh:

The last 4 weeks; I've had AMAZING restriction; very good place to be. So today for lunch, I had one hot dog. Not bad. Then ate about 3/4 cup of mac/cheese w/cauliflower in it. GO FIGURE! That's the most I've eaten in a month! Wow band...you drive me crazy sometimes!

I wasn't hungry or thirsty for days and days. It took me until day 11 post op - before I even felt like I wanted to eat/drink anything.

She certainly is an inspiration!

How'd THIS happen...my fickle band?
sherilynn replied to sherilynn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
HOW THE HELL SHOULD I KNOW!!!! lolololol ROFLMAO I CAN SO RELATE TO THIS! :faint::clap2::faint::clap2: Exactly. For instance; I started this thread. My restriction was 'gone' again. TODAY - I was DONE/FULL on two bites of salad. YIKES. -
Didn't know there was one!!!

How'd THIS happen...my fickle band?

I like the description of "Non Food". Realizing that filling my pouch with something that hold no nutritional value isn't appealing any longer. I want to get my protein and fresh veggies - something I know my body needs. -

I think at this point, I would just say to heck with insurance, and find someone else 'out of network' and pay it out of pocket. Most insurances don't cover the psych eval. It shouldn't run more than a couple hundred dollars. -
I bet this this is the most excited about a gain you've ever had! I'm glad to hear it's just 5. I pretty much figured. And I would have to say that you probably are NOT eating 'whatever and however much' you want. That's like me saying 'I ate like a horse'. Anything over 1 or 2 cups of food does not = 'like a horse". hehehe I know, it's mindset. I'm TRYING, and trucking along.:whoo:

I have lost all manners, for sure, since being banded. I went to a concert last Friday night; something got a little stuck while tailgating. I swear I was 'spitting' like a man. Actually got to the point where I was checking to see how far I could heave it. I know; how lady like. Even as I write this; I have a styrofoam cup on my desk. My 'spitoon'. Yup; don't care - gotta do, what I gotta do. Worst one yet; at my parents and just 'dumping food' out of my mouth that I just KNOW will get stuck. It's almost like an immediate reaction now. Ahhhh, I love my band.

I have been coming here for about a year for support and education. There has always been the 'regulars' out there. Sometimes I post; sometimes I just read. But the last month or so...is this board slowing down? Or have the folks I've grown to love just not been around? :faint:

I have quite alot of fill in my band. Doc says I'm one of the few who doesn't get the 'full sensation'. Go figure. And NO KIDDING - otherwise, I'd never would have eaten so much in the past! I see my surgeon on Thursday; hopefully we'll plan another fill.

For VG 10 cc Bandsters ONLY
sherilynn replied to BeacheeGirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
At my last fill, it put me at 10.2 cc; and my restriction is 'minimal' right now. Doc told me that 'some people'...just don't get the full sensation. I'm hoping for another fill soon. -
How would I know if I was too tight?
-
Could it have been a 'joke'? *not a very funny one, however.

Hey Sunshine!!! I am so sorry for you loss. As for the 8lbs...just look at is as a 'stress reliever' - and it WILL come off again. I'm sorry to hear about your flooding. Up here in the Northeast, some areas have experienced some of it in recent months. I know how hard it can be. Wishing you the best. Sheri
