i am staying on plan today because ...

I'm staying on plan today, because I want to keep getting the compliments from co-workers about how I am just 'melting away' and how I 'look so good'. Darn that's a good feeling!

New York Times article about WLS

I wonder if we could take the letters of you folks, somehow put it into an email 'petition' style?? Perhaps electronically send it in with our 'signatures'. Let them know of our successes, trials, and 'side steps' )(never failures!). We're a BIG group; all posts considered. Let them know just how big of a community we are; and how much they've offended. Alexandra - would that be going against LBT t&cs???

New York Times article about WLS

My mouth is still hanging opened, after just having read this. I'm in shock. But most of all I pity the authors. ...can't wait for a few of our heavy hitters to pitch in on this. BUMP!!!!!!!!!!!

Could I Be At My Sweet Spot & Just Don't Know It???

Jack, this is my new favorite saying. I've put it in my signature. Something so simple can 'hit ya'...go figure. Bravo, good man! As always; you inspire.

    Anyone here?

Hey girls... I'm with you; staying off scale until after the holiday. ANY gain would devestate me. I've been at plateau for a while - and I've not ever seen a gain all year. Would like to keep it that way...though I know it's unrealistic - THIS TIME OF YEAR. As for you all and the TOM issue; again - I LOOSE all restriction right before, and pretty much through it. Luckily for me, I won't have TOM for the holidays; so my restriction should remain in tact. Whew. I'm not in a size 11...but the 16's I'm wearing today sure do feel GREAT! I haven't been below an 18 in a bunch of years.
  6. As I mentioned on another thread, my father asked me yesterday "How are you feeling? How is the weighloss coming along?" I told him that I haven't weighed. So with that, he went on to tell me about how the guy at work had it done, and he's loosing 3-4 pounds per week. Then added "But he's also on a diet". In other words, the guy is on a restricted diet of some sort; possibly weight watchers, whatever - so he's loosing more (than I am). Almost an incinuation that if I did a diet plan; I could loose faster. Dad has been my biggest supporter, but I'm really annoyed today, thinking about the conversation. What can I tell him to shut him up? I don't need a food police.
  7. Hey all, I got an email yesterday, from a woman in the UK - to my personal email address. She says she's from this board. Wanted to advise me directly that she had a problem with her port coming detached. I just NEVER got a personal email from anyone here - on my home email address. All messages come through LBT. What gives? Is there a setting that I can have taken off?

"But he's also on a diet!"

I like this choice best. Like I said; he's been my biggest 'fan' seeing me shrinking, etc. I could never 'respectfully' say to him Mind Your Own Business. Not like he was intentionally being disrespectful to me. I'm just getting though the mental part of being with band. Never mind the added stress of going to Weight Watchers, etc. That would put me over the edge sometimes! lol

    NSV (Non Scale Victories)

It's been a bad habit 2 weeks; not the best food choices, some WRONG choices, etc. Had TOM last week. Anyway, I 'knew' that I was up on the scale. So I stayed away. Big chicken that I am. Dad saw me yesterday and said "So...how are you feeling? How is the weightloss?" Told him I haven't weighed. But his asking me, made me think "Do I LOOK fatter?" So this a.m., I weighed. Down another 1.5. I coudln't believe it. So, my NSV was weighing less than I thought I would!!!

    Anyone here?

DEAR LORD NO! I'd NEVER want anyone NOT to post! You're my inspiration! Yes; I'm jealous...but it's because you're doing what I want!!!

    Anyone here?

I'm feeling so slow, so inadequate. My loss is SO much slower than yours. I know...no comparing. I can only blame myself I am sure. I've definately NOT dedicated workouts to my healthier lifestyle, in the amounts that I should. My New Years resolution for this past year was to loose weight. Did/doing that. This year - will HAVE to be to get moving/working out. I want to do good as you all!

    Anyone here?

Wow...that type of 'forum' seems so foreign to me. There is NO PLACE LIKE HOME when it comes to you all! I'd NEVER get through my rants and raves if it weren't for you all. I don't go to a support group; other than you. So YOU ARE DA BOMB!

Why would my restriction just go???

Are you sure NOTHING NOT A THING is correct? Take a good look at this and think how 'nothing' feels, compared to restriction. To me, when my TOM comes and I loose restriction and 'feel nothing'...I'm full of it. It's just not as tight as I'm used to.

    NSV (Non Scale Victories)

DITTO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Amazing that I can go into Avenue, Lane Bryant - and not feel like a freakshow. "This size is too big; can ya get me something SMALLER!" lolol

    Bad family experience :(

Before my surgery I kept telling my family and friends; "ONLY POSITIVE ENERGY". So I salute you taking a step out for a while. I get where you're coming from. Everything has a way of working out for the best in the end.

    Seafood help???????????????

We went to a cajun resturant for dinner on Saturday and I had the crabcakes. They bring 2 HUGE cakes. Naturally, I picked at the first one (after appetizers). So I just reheated the 2nd - went down NO problem. As long as it's not 'bready'...it's easy.
  17. I'm REALLY bad during my pms time. Seriously bad. Mood, iritibility, bloating - I'm the classic B*TCH. Preband, normal for me is I could eat a horse the week prior. I am a bottomless pit. Post band; not much has changed. I've noticed that my restriction is less at this time of month. I don't know if it's Mother Natures way of saying "Have that chocolate, enjoy that binge"...whatever it maybe be...it's STRANGE. I ate a whole turkey burger today, with onions and mushrooms. Ok...granted - it DID take me longer to eat it...about 45 minutes. I didn't inhale it. I guess it could be that I'm also 'ignoring' the band - and that I continue to just put food in. Nothing comes up. And I will admit - I have learned HOW to eat around the band. But this isn't the case. In one sit down, I can consume more. ***But now that I type this - I'm guessing it's b/c I'm eating for a longer period of time. Anyone else loosen up for PMS?

    PMS affects on my band

Anyone else have a good guess? I'm guessing it has to do with Water retention???

    Cheeseburger= 20 minutes, WOW!

Ahhhhh, clarity. Makes sense. Thanks! To me, still a cheeseburger.

    Cheeseburger= 20 minutes, WOW!

Isn't a small ground beef patty still a burger? I enjoy my burgers with different things on it; cheese, mushrooms, onions, peppers, salsa, hummus...you name it. It's an easy way for me to get in my Protein. Turkey burgers rate up there, too!

    PMS affects on my band

So here I am writing about my amazing ability to eat what I want, in larger quantities during my PMS. Hardee, Har Har. Just yesterday afternoon, my cousin scarlet came to town. And just last night, I took a bite of chicken and mushrooms - and could BARELY get in a 'good meal'. Ha! BAM - Restriction - BACK! Easy come - easy go! My band is oh so fickle! lol

    TOM Pain

I'm not sure, but my doctor's office asks me if I'll be on TOM for a fill. They prefer NOT to do it then, as there is a risk that runs of an inaccurate fill. But then again, each doctor is different. I would certainly call your doctor; as you should NEVER experience 'pain'. Discomfort, perhaps - but definatley not pain. BTW - congrats on your amazing success!

    TOM Pain

Hey Mscags... You leave this very open to questions: How long are you banded? Is this your first period since banding? Are you feeling pain, or are you feeling restriction? Fill us in a little more information so we can give our 2 cents. If you read some more, you'll see that many of us have a BIG variation in restriction with TOM; some get really loose, some get really tight. In the end, I think we all go back to our 'norm' when the cycle is over.
