  1. Congratulations - hope day 3 is even better for you.
  2. Jax - you GO GIRL. My daughter has verbally attacked me about my decision. I will meet with a therapist before, during and after to receive tools in dealing with these issues. I do NOT intend to share this decision with friends. Felt I should tell family. Fortunately, my husband is very supportive. This is the tool I feel I need.
  3. My date is the 22nd - we can do this together. Joyce
  4. Such an interesting thread with diverse responses and experiences. I remember mentioning to a dear friend (always very slender) that, due to illness "you are losing so much weight". She was angry - responding that others had also mentioned "how thin she was becoming". Her opinion was that she would never say, "I can't believe how fat your getting". What makes people think they can comment on my losing weight. A good point - and I took notice. She was informational in her comment, not rude.
  5. Just what I want to read. No pain - no hunger. Nirvana.
  6. Janelle - I began pre-op yesterday. Enjoy the sun in Mexico and the successful banding experience. We'll travel this journey together and with the others in Feb.
  7. I'm jealous of Kathy & Mariposa. So eager to be starting the new life and having surgery behind me. Go team Feb. 2010 bandsters.
  8. I'm on day 2. A shake for breakfast & lunch and lean cuisine for dinner. Doing OK - the beginning of NOT focusing on food and dealing with feelings. This is part of the journey and new habits. We can do it. :cursing:
  9. Good job Michelle. Will anxiously await your return to the boards after surgery - and "Band new Girl".
  10. I start pre-op tomorrow too. Also expecting headaches and severe moodiness. Here we go. If others could do it, so can I.
  11. Tweety - How are you doing? Hope all is going well.
  12. Sending lots of support with you Northern Mist. May everything go smoothly. Joyce in Kansas City
  13. Congratulations - bet your son was happy to have you join the fun.
  14. Hello ladies. My name is Joyce & I'm 66 and live in Kansas City. I love to travel and will be banded on 2-22-2010. I'm hoping that this next year I'll get to know all of you, and perhaps, be invited to join you next year on your retreat/vacation. However, for this year, I'm sending best wishes for a marvelous trip to each an every one of you. Joyce from Kansas City
  15. #1. Surgery date: 2-22-2010 #2. Kansas #3. Stephen Malley/Malley Surgical Center #4. Self pay #5. 66 yrs. young, 5'3" #6. 224/165 #7. Deciding factor? Self-esteem very low, & beginning to isolate. Tired of being trapped inside the "mask" of fat. Eager to embrace the life I deserve to enjoy. #8. Support of family & friends? Some family members are afraid for me - most support my decision. I elect to withhold my choice from others. #9. Concerns & questions -- will utilitze therapy to help make hugh changes the Lapband will require. i.e. no liquids during meals, small bites, chewing (not gulping), facing feelings and not numbing them with food. These forum threads are invaluable in offering the support and information to assist me and all of us.
  16. Way to go ladies. And can you believe our mommies didn't want us to burp. lolol
  17. I live in Overland Park and will have it done @ The Bariatric Center Off 435 & Nall. I'm 66 and feel I deserve a healthy, attractive body for the next 10+? years. I understand that the band is a tool, and I'll have responsibility to make it work -- but I'm confident that if so many others can make the life adjustments necessary, I/we can do it too. We deserve a great life. :sifone:
  18. Productive burping - also seen it shown as pbing :sifone:

  25. Hoping to schedule surgery date and begin pre-op diet. Plan to use their therapist before, during and after to wrap my mind around this life-long struggle with weight. From all the posts I've read here, this lapband will be the tool to finally conquer the beast. So very excited to begin the journey. :bored:
