I'm here to help...
Wow - I've been reading this thread for 45 minutes. So many ladies to get to know and such varied life issues. Our computer was out from Sunday @ midnight until 3 pm today. Can't live without it. Congratulations to those who had losses and broke plateaus. Interesting to see how the weight loss flows with the band. On Day 9 of 14 of pre-op diet. No problems. Saw my primary care physician yesterday to request liquid Rx meds. No luck - pharmacist recommends crushing & adding to juice or water. Works for me. This thread feels soooooo warm and comfortable. Thanks for including me. Joyce in Kansas City

Feb. 23rd!
3 Pm on Day 2 thru 5 PM on Day 3 were the toughest for me. Then, hit the pace and hunger left. Hope that happens for both of you. Cherita, I skipped Valentines Day dinner - just for this year. Next year I'll bring my gorgeous new body to a much lighter dinner. I'm positive it will be well worth the effort for all of us. Be strong - so many others have walked this path - we can too. Feeling lost with out food
Much congratulations bandpal. Your reply was so well written and heart-felt. Living only to eat - what a horrible life. Time to seize the opportunity to live life fully and with grace. Joyce in KC

Indio - thanks for your comments. Reading all the pre-op warnings is unsettling. Had a total knee replacement in May 2009 that was a real challenge. Lapband surgeon said this procedure will be NOTHING after what I went thru with the knee. Need to focus on the success. So nice to see your 112 lb loss and hear all the gals successes. The future awaits. BTW - DH has hired nurses for me the first 2 days to make it all easier. My valentine gift.

I'm here to help...
Thank you for the "Welcome". It has been fun reading about the trip. Snow here in K.C. and very cold. On day 7 of pre-op diet and beginning to wonder, "Am I crazy to do this?" Want an extraordinary life - not an ordinary one. Lapband will help me achieve the health and body to reach that goal. Joyce

Feeling lost with out food
Anticipating that this will be a problem for me, I've started seeing a therapist who specializes in bariatric counseling. Will work to find tools to help me thru this journey. Best of luck to all of us - we'll share our hints and skills.

Psych consult
Stuff down pain and lonliness and self abuse for not being "perfect". I had my first appt with therapist this morning. Will see her again next week and ongoing as I continue this life-changing journey. Have "named" my band - My Hero. Life will be easier with My Hero walking thru with me.

I suddenly get it.....
Webster defines "diet" as a chosen plan of eating. We need to reframe this four letter word. We chose health and success with the help of the lapband.

Psych consult
Jax - your comments "struck a cord" with me. My step-father was a prisoner of war and had major food issues, understandably. However, growing up I experienced severe punishment relative to food. It never dawned on me that these childhood situations might still be affecting my attitude toward food. These boards are very enlightening.

Feb. 23rd!
Had my pre-op testing today. Very nice nurse explained day of surgery routine and toured the surgical center facilities. Had blood drawn, urine specimen, & EKG. Also was given lots more paperwork to read in preparation for this drastic change. My focus now is more on the preparations and changes, than on the reward. Will see therapist tomorrow. This is day 4 of pre-op diet and it is getting easier. Joyce

Hi Mom, I'm not yet banded, but I love the Boca Burgers. Soy protein is something I enjoy. I will start using tofu again after surgery. Making shakes with fruit juice, 1/3 cube of tofu and ice cubes. yyumm and very filling

I love to travel, so I can explain, boarding passes can only be printed 24 hours prior to flight. I'll be banded 2-22-2010 and wrote a previous message expressing that I hope to be invited to join you ladies for your trip next year. Looks like such a caring, supportive group of ladies/banders. Have a marvelous trip. Joyce in Kansas City
