Snowy and cold. Beginning the day with oatmeal. Tomato soup for lunch. Support group at 6p tonight and think we will have fish and salad out for dinner. Painting baby furniture for new grandbaby in the shop this am. Shoveling snow will work for exercise. Big walk at hospital to see mom. Super bowl commercial for Fiat was a funny one... the pill in the gas tank! Hehehe!

Watching the Super Bowl. Just reflecting over a bowl of chili... well a half cup is more like it! 1 bite hot bread. All done! Thinking of the spread of things in years past prior to LB. Gosh it was all about the food! So today is minimally about the food and glad for that. Must get my vit/min in. Forgot all about it yesterday. Life gets busy and I slip. Great to get refocused. My mom is still in the hospital and they did take her off oxygen. She looks so pale. Tomorrow will be a better day for her! Three inches of ice outdoors this evening and the temp is dropping. Nice night to be indoors.

Today will be a great day! I have a new food grinder... gift from the kids for my BD and I made a roast chicken and ground it up with eggs, cheese and pickle. Love wraps and that will be a great high protein meal. Made soup too so we can be fast and on target. Mom (90) is in the hospital and we have a funeral of cousins hubby. Making jello so all bases covered! Watching little grand kids while our kids visit Great Gram at the hospital. Flu season is no place for babies in the hospital. I will get walking in at the hospital today. Only 10 F out so I think I will not do the icy outdoors to walk. Keep focus on your goal and you will get there! Good to hear all your challenges and successes!

Good Morning, Just in from the ER with my Mom. It does cause some issues when our schedules are changed but flexibility and accountability are sisters! Today starting with green tea and vit/min. Boiled egg on the menu, chili and cheese for lunch. Not sure how dinner will go as we need to go to the hospital after the gym to visit. High Protein goal (fish I think and veg. ) for dinner. I can keep it simple and still make my goals!
  5. EMMS, Don't give up. The struggle you are having may resolve if you get more fill. I did not take but 2 but a friend of mine had the 6th one before she felt a thing and now a year later... she is down 100 lb. Individuals are so different. I feel restriction. Not sure if that is what everyone feels. I had never known full until my second fill. I call my lapband my full button. Keep tabs with your DR. and follow your meal plan. Hope you get some results!

Had Water and coffee. Need to add my Vitamins and minerals and green tea soon. Working in garage with tote storage organizer project! It was going great till hubby started c/o headache. His B/P is high. Call in to DR. Shall see what we need to do to treat this. Never a dull moment! Planned to do the gym but his B/P will keep me from going yet. I may do brisk walk outside. Moving is moving!

I'm not RIGHT, you're not WRONG, WE ARE DIFFERENT.

OH my what fun! Well I too eat real butter... about a teaspoon a day. Real Peanut Butter, about 1 1/2 tsp 3x a week. I rarely weigh. Maybe once every 2 weeks. I eat from the garden and real organic meats in small quantities. No artificial sweeteners or additives if I can help it! I love my home made smoothies with frozen fresh fruit I have done myself in the summer and milk and honey. Plain and simple. And oh yes real Godiva or Reeces chocolates one a day! For a snack I have my gummy Vitamins and minerals with green tea! I keep my body moving with exercise everyday and try to get in 10 miles on elliptical weekly. For fun I dance with anyone who wants to see and old lady boogie! My grandkids are willing anytime... ages 3, 2, 1 1/2 and a new one coming soon. I have had tea parties with Water in plastic tea pot and little plastic cups, no table cloth, no fancy centerpiece, no candles! Grandkids grinning from eat to ear as they take turns pouring! I can sing the "I'm a little teapot short and stout " song and actually bend and pour it out! Fitter is Funner!

    6 Years on today

Diane, I am sorry you are having reflux or so it sounds to me. I am at 6 years in April and have been having a few of these issues in the last 6 months but not before. I did need a sm amount of Fluid removed from my band and am doing better but just had it done so no time to say if it will last. I am taking Omeprazole 1 x day. My issue they think began from taking mobic for pain after a neck injury in an auto accident. Praying for your issue to get resolved. Interested in your getting this resolved.

    Wednesday, Jan. 9 Accountability

Had small adjustment in band as Dr. and I agreed I had slipped into the red zone. I did not struggle with reflux in bed last night. Today will be a back to normal food plan I hope. Not terribly hungry yet. Fluids are going down well and vit. and min. are on target. Making chili for dinner tonight. lunch out with friends. Ordering fish and not sure what else. My wt. is exactly at goal . Accountability is important! Thanks all for sharing and helping keep me there. Building our storage system in the garage and just off to a good start. Getting a good walk in later today. Raining right now. Grand daughter is having her wisdom teeth out so say a prayer for Anna! Thanks!

Kodos on keeping your body moving! Do the math if your body mass moves you will become smaller by sheer muscle tightening. That is where I am at. I lose a pound or so on occasion but the jeans are fitting better in the areas that they had the sag and also where they were snug. I have a call into the Center today with a question to see if I am at the edge of the red zone. I am struggling with acid reflux at night and also some issues occasionally with solid food. I have tried being on liquids to shakes for 2 days and did well. As soon as I do chewable food... reflux and some nausea. Opinion welcome? I am 5 years post surgery and this is my real first episode like this!

    Recent clinic visit

There seems not to be tons of information about what to do for us Veterans who are at goal and may have an issue or two periodically . I have been researching the 8 Golden Rules of Lapband and learned a couple of things. Reinforced many that I had slacked on. However it is mostly aimed at people not at their goal. Is there a Veteran Maintenance Chapter anywhere? I could use it! My 5 year success is due to this great tool even though it is an older tool. I do go to a support group religiously but note instruction for liquid WT. loss and newby Banders or Sleevers on the menu generally.
  13. The surgery is not for me... well I don't think so. Just getting the undergarments refitted at a great ladies shop was more info than I really wanted to share. Thank God the fitter had similar issues to mine and seemed to not say negative comments. Actually when I wear the right undergarments life is pretty good. The beach... well that is not happening . My wt loss was not in the 100 lb up zone so maybe I can exercise and tone up. That is helping! Has anyone had a tuck in tummy with 65 lb loss or so? It would be a benefit ! But is it worth it?

Unable to keep down my food

Thanks for posting the 8 golden rules of Lapband. I really was needing a clear reminder of how it worked. My RD still supports no drinking at mealtimes. This was loosening up that rule and I am happy. I will have to let my RD know and she might benefit from seeing this. Looks like a great discussion. Hugs and today I am at goal. I need to stay there and stay healthy! Hugs and best wishes on your journey!

Unable to keep down my food

Give your clinic a call. I have had that happen and the Dr. helped me with my problem. Hugs and prayers. I did get back on task. You will to!
  16. I love the Call the Midwife series. I think there is new on PBS in March but the old ones are on Netflix. I like Downton Abbey too.

    Starting Pre-op Diet

(((((((((((HUG))))))))))))))) This is for everyone starting over or starting this am like I did. Everyday is a new day!YOU are worth all the measuring and record keeping. Play your favorite song and dance to it! What an awesome sunset! It is a sugar free dessert! Just got big hugs and kisses from 2 little grand kids that I played on the floor in kinetic purple sand with. I actually sat on the floor and got back up. Woohoo... it is all paying off! PTL!

    Where to shop?

Every where and even enjoyed looking in the mirror. Had to donate my stuff so while I was a Goodwill I took a look in their store and ya know what. They have brand new small sized clothes... size 9, 7, for 4.29 and since I was changing sizes about every 6 weeks it worked well. I found a pair of Earl Jeans with bling rhinestones all over the back pockets there and love them. It is fun to try different brands as the shape has changed dramatically. Congratulations and happy shopping. P.S. Undergarments are the most important and I find Bali works well for me.

    Going through the motions today

That is a tough blow for you to know how serious your friends health condition is. Hang on tight and she has a strong support in YOU! We have had a Big C in our house and fought through surgery and radiation. It took 2 years to get the cancer free test back. I know I had the stamina to get through my family member's illness and treatment because my body was strong and healthy at my goal wt. God is good! Keep your new weight loss journey in view and know you are healthier for all concerned because of it! Hugs!
  22. I had to wait almost 3 years as had a denial on trial 1 and 2 then when I was least expecting it.... whoop whoop I was approved. I had a BMI of 39.5 which is slightly less than what the insurance co would approve. They saved money by doing the WLS instead of hip replacement I think. I am so much healthier over all too! It was worth the wait and education pre op! Best wishes on your journey!

    Wanted to say hello

I will be 64 soon. Glad to hear you gals are on track at 70. I do the gym and feel as good as I did at 30 for the most part. I did not really fill the positive affects of the band till my second fill but after that ... it has been a great tool. I have a support group of which several clients are in their 70's and they are swimming and walking lots to enhance their health. Go for it! I am too!
