Also, remember that there were a variety of tools inserted thru each of those incisions. Could be soreness from those - the tools would have gone in different directions from the actual incision to allow the dr access to see and perform the surgery. You might try an ice pack to see if that helps; 20 minutes at a time. Hope you feel better soon! The first few days are the worst!

Mini-Me ~ you are gonna be mini very soon!!!! I think that is one really great thing about this surgery is that you do have fairly quick results early on and it gives you the spirit to continue. The thrift stores will be on my list also when I run out of clothes at home. I want to save my money for those "mini" clothes later on : ) Congrats!!!

Congrats! So glad you had the surgery! You will be very happy with it! hope you have an easy recovery!

I am 5'4". The shortest in my family: parents, siblings, children. LOL My youngest daughter, 15, is over 5'9 ... and 130 lbs. Brat! : ) Thank you about the "success". I am sure you will do great! It is an awesome tool!!

Dr. Aceves April 27 Whoo Hoo!
pnw218 replied to imwendylou's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Did you have to mention that dollar thing??? LOL Used to be cheaper for us to go there! I used to go up to Vancouver with a group of girls, many moons ago, before we were 21. For obvious reasons :tongue_smilie:. Spokane is too hot for me. I am a wuss. I stay on this side of the mountains except for trips to Leavenworth and the Yakima Wine Valley. Yakima gets too hot but the car and most wineries have a/c! -
Seriously?? 1600 euros?? Dang! I would have gone to France for that price! Even with the flight it would have been cheaper than Mexico! LOL However, the pastry shops on every block would have added another 10 lbs before surgery .... it might have been worth it tho! The flight home would have been too long! 3 hours was plenty : )

I had a sleep test in mid January. I had very little knowledge about sleep apnea and had no idea it would likely be the reason I was so tired all day, and often within an hour of waking up. So - I was really surprised to hear that I did indeed have obstructive sleep apnea. The sleep dr also told me that I needed to lose at least 50 pounds ... the same week my back specialist told me the same thing. That is what led me to pursue the vsg surgery. Being overweight does seem to be very common with those who have sleep apnea. My gp told me that she also has skinny patients with OSA. Most of what I have read tho suggests that losing weight will "cure" the sleep apnea. Some people here have also said that. I am hoping!! Good luck! Get the sleep test if you can. Hopefully you will have sleep apnea - so you can get approved!!

I have no idea how long it will take! LOL The ticker started out as days past surgery and then when I got to the first month, the ruler part automatically changed to months. Reaching goal in 6 months would be great! I am hoping to have the majority of weight gone by mid-July when we are cruising again. Truly, I would have been happy getting into the low 140's; the 130's would be amazing. I didn't really know what to set as a realistic goal so just used an average number from one of those weight charts for middle sized frames :tongue_smilie: Lots of people have posted that they do use a straw afterwards. I have and haven't had any issues. Maybe not right after surgery, but within a couple of weeks should be fine.

What is this pain? Help!
pnw218 replied to Genesis1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't had the brain freeze part - could it be more light headed or nausea? How fast did you eat? Did you eat the last two bites when you were already feeling a little full? If I eat too much or eat something for the first time, the symptoms are pretty similar. Light headed, nausea, stomach pain. And lots of burping and tummy gurgling! I haven't had Pasta yet so don't know if that could have done it. I can eat shredded cheese on other foods but can't eat string cheese. It didn't settle at all. If it is "just" too fast, too much or a new food - the discomfort will go away. Sometimes it takes me close to an hour tho. Try to relax, get a cold wash cloth, walk around. I even will take a few sips of cold Water. In my mind it might help loosen it up and pass thru the stomach. Use your best judgement. Seems late for a complication but ya never know. an afterthought... if you did eat too much, it may not all be fitting into your stomach and would be backed up into your esophagus. That could account for the chest pain. Be careful and don't wait too long to call your doctor if it doesn't go away. Hope you feel better soon! -
I did get thru one group of clothes today and it was such fun! I could get pants on that I haven't worn forever! And the stuff that was too big, went into the donate pile! What about shirts?? I figure the size of my shoulders isn't gonna change much. I kept most of the cuter shirts - but those that were really loose and had no shape to them, went into the donate stack as well. Does your shirt size change that much? I have always been about the same size bust wise; having a lift just changed the shape. Keeping the buttons buttoned has always been an issue. LOL

Trying to kick my diet coke habit pre-op, anyone else?
pnw218 replied to Swiftflow's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OH! :001_smile: lol I usually stop at the nearest gas station mini mart and make my own from whatever they have there. A little coffee, a little hot chocolate and about 20 of those little creamers! :tongue_smilie: I rarely finish it so why spend more than a dollar?? -

Damn Girl! You have been busy!! LOL I didn't take the time to read all of it but scanned parts. Shirley, by the way, was lousy and got fired. Dr. Almanza is the surgeon and has the documents. I will send you a pm with my experience. Please feel free to ask me any questions you might have. Based on your post, you have likely read my entries and know where I stand, but I will repeat - I am not on their payroll and do not accept referral fees from Melissa, who was my coordinator. Good Luck with your research but don't get bogged down in all of the rhetoric. Think politics and religion, and then use your common sense to make the best decision for you! Also, I am going down there soon with a patient and am excited to see the new facility. The photos look awesome! -

I totally gave in last week and got a $1 Sweet Tea from McDonalds! Sure, I can make them at home but they are so much better from there! :biggrin2: -
Very good point! That is always the first question I ask my kids when they say they don't feel good! Never even crossed my mind this time!! Great Job Nurse !!!

LMFAO !!!! Talk about people being "insiders" !!!!!!!! You have changed your name, only have a handful of posts - and immediately come off as some "expert". Now you are holding conferences for all of those who have been treated poorly in Mx?? Just where exactly have these people "stood before you", how did you get in contact with them and how did you verify their "stories"? Your word not mine. LOL I have a few guesses .... the PD call them in as 220s. Buyer Beware?? How about "READER BEWARE" ??? Obviously you either have a connection you aren't willing to share or a huge chip on your shoulder. THANKS for the wonderful comic relief each day! Really helps to take my mind off any real stress I might be having in my life:thumbup: -

LOL Typical Seattle attitude : ) Original home of Starbucks!! I think coffee Beans smell great but I have never been able to stomach it. I might be able to drink most of a Single Tall NonFat Mocha Raspberry Latte with Whip Cream, but that's about it! LOL -

I wish I had even thought about doing that! I planned my surgery so quickly tho I didn't even think about weaning off anything. It was all about eating that favorite "one more time"!! :biggrin2: I only had one diet pop each afternoon tho - either a can or glass, depending on if I was at home or at the office. But it was my afternoon "energy" to get thru the rest of the day. I have tried flat and fresh pop, and it just isn't the same now. I do miss it. Good Luck with your changes! -

Sorry Tiffany but I had to write "just one more time"! :sad0: -
I miss it ALL !!! I was much more addicted to food than I knew :sad0: I do sometimes have very small sips of Water with my food. Some things need help going down. Rum and coke! That sounds wonderful! I have had a few sips of a margarita and homemade sangria. Was loopy tho after just a little! pizza - I think it is Lean Cuisine that has a wonderful BBQ chicken pizza. One box is enough for 4 meals! lol Someone brought a puffy baked chip to our volleyball tournament - don't remember the brand but did see them at Walgreens the other day. I had a few of those and they were great! Overall, I don't mind getting full after a small portion, just wish I could eat it faster to get the meal over with. Not very patient. :scared0:

I have never even heard of that before! If I am not better tomorrow, I will have to try some. I am having almost constant pain since starting PT for my back last week - and now it has settled in my middle back, shoulders, neck and head since Wednesday. I can take muscle relaxers but dr doesn't want me taking tramadol right now :scared0: Thanks for the info!

It is impossible to reason with some people. I have given up trying to get any true facts or basis for comments. I am too new to know the exact reasons he is a target but have read back and see it is an ongoing war. Two people can be in the same place at the same time and see things so differently. I have seen it many times. When someone can show me cold hard facts, I might reconsider; until then, I will continue to relay my positive experience. I am planning to be down there again soon and will make sure to bring my CSI kit with me tho! LOL Just not into the he said, she said doomsday sensationalism. Consider the sources I guess. Some of the comments do provide some comic relief after a long day tho! :scared0: -
ITA on the warm liquids. In the beginning, I even warmed up plain Water and added a packet or two of fake sugar. The Crystal Lite, except for peach, didn't taste good initially.
