    Try Solgar whey to go, vanilla powder, mixed with either skim milk or lite vanilla soy milk, and ice! Delicious! I also throw in frozen strawberries in place of ice sometimes. You'll love it. And one scoop has 16 gr. of Protein.

    Yes, the recovery was really quick. My stomach hurts mostly at the port site. My stomach looks about 4 months pregnant!

  4. See, I feel the same way. Isn't it better to have a little bit of sugar as opposed to filling your body with 'fake' chemical ridden foods? Most of the sweeteners actually cause the body to hold on to weight. I've read numerous articles about diet coke doing just that. It's confusing. I guess there's two schools of thought.

    I'm only 4 days post band. I have been trying and coming close to getting in my 64 oz of fluid daily, but don't really drink straight water. I drink very diluted juices mostly. Do you think that's ok? I just find plain water so boring!

    Me too! I was banded Friday, and am having the exact same issue. I can't tell if I'm full or it's just post operative gas and soreness.

    Sugar vs. Calories

    Here's my quandry. So if we are counting calories and Protein and fat, sugar, etc., what actual 'role' does the band play? Is it that it shrinks your stomach so you get full faster? Sometimes I feel like if I had stuck to all of these guidelines to begin with, why did I need the band. I'm not trying to be negative here, I'm really asking.

    Sugar vs. Calories

    Should I be more concerned with sugar or calories? I've been keeping a journal of what I consume (still on full liquid phase) , and keeping track of calories and protein. For example, my instructions from the Dr. says diluted juice, but juice has a lot of sugar. I'm a little confused about all this. I'd appreciate any input. Thanks, JennyPenny

    Well I don't drink booze ( but I do think it's funny that it counted as a clear liquid! ) coffee is my drug of choice, and I only drink the finest! hehe I'm with you - Peets is the best!

    I just added half a packet of the Caramel Via to 1/2 cup vanilla soy milk, and one scoop of my whey vanilla protein powder. It was deeeeeelish! Just like a regular frappucino but 20g protein!
  15. I am 51 years old, and banded on 6.24.11. Like most of you I'm sure, I have been on every diet, shake, program on the planet. I am so ready for this positive change in my health and in my life. I am so tired of hating my body. My life is so blessed in many ways, and I am ready to fully enjoy it!

    Thank you Mandilou- I'm sure you're right! After awhile of having the band, I can re-evaluate. I'm doing everything else to a T, so why risk that slippery slope.And yes, it WILL work if you work it. There's a slogan I'm quite familiar with! I am having the most difficult time on this website, and I consider my self quite computer savvy! haha

    My first Post-Op posting

    Ok...be honest....did anyone NOT quit drinking coffee, and had NO problems? I'm not a huge coffee drinker, but really miss my half cup in the morning. My Dr's. assistant said that caffeine of any kind will affect the band negatively, and yet I've seen on various blogs that some people do drink coffee.
