    Spring into March 2010 Bandsters

Yes...I agree. They said eat protein, it keeps you full longer. A shake will not...it passes through very quickly. If you're tight in the morning and have a hard time eating a meal, that's when it's okay to have a protein shake. For me... I'm tighter at bedtime.

    Spring into March 2010 Bandsters

I was banded on March 24. Went to my first fill appointment yesterday and I didn't need a fill. I have had good restriction from the start and can only eat 1/4 to 1/3 cup meal. I do eat six small meals a day...and they were okay with that as long as I'm losing weight. So...I was encouraged and have another appointment in three weeks.

    is it normal?

Not getting enough water can make you have low energy. Is your urine dark or light? If it's dark...you need to up the water. I mean every 10 minutes take a few sips of water...except right before and after meals. Also...not enough protein will cause low energy...it did for me. The second week I was so low on energy, but I upped my water and protein...also make sure you take your vitamins everyday. Now...I'm feeling great. I have more energy than ever. As the others have said...call the nurse and ask....sooner is better. If you have an infection...it can really cause you to feel bad and have no energy.

    Are fills really necessary?

I was banded on March 24th and so far I have good restriction. I can only eat 1/4 cup meal, but I do get hungry every 2-3 hrs. I'm ok with this because it evens out. I actually think it's good to eat very small meals several times a day...as I don't get low blood sugar eating that way. I'm losing 2 pounds a week and am walking everyday. I am scheduled for my first fill on the 21st of April, but I don't think I want one, as I'm afraid it will be too much. I do plan on talking to my doctor and getting his advice on it too. Has anyone had this issue and is it normal? I forgot to add that my surgeon did add Fluid to my band on the day I was banded.

    Blown away!!!

Great job...Keep it going. You're doing something right.
  6. The first two weeks were the hardest. My energy was low. But I kept adding as much protein as I could and also made sure I drank enough water. Then the third week, I felt much better. I'm twenty days post op and all I can say is everyday gets easier. I'm so glad I have the band on my side now.

  7. Richardson is in TX...part of Dallas area. Anyways...I'm not nervous...just can't wait to begin a new way of living. I keep wondering what it'll be like to enjoy clothes shopping, rather than avoid it. Ya know?

  8. I'm way too excited! I'm not nervous about the surgery...just what life will be like after. I'm ready to do this thing and begin a new way of life.

  9. I start my liquid diet on the 11th...I'm more nervous about sticking to liquids than I am about the surgery. But I guess each day will be one step closer to my goal.

  10. I see your band date is the 24th. I'm having mine that day too! Where are you having your surgery? I'm having it through True Results at the Richardson Surgery Center...it's in TX. Let's keep in touch.

  11. Hey there Megg...My band date is the 24 as well. Best of luck!

  12. Hi Jacquie...I see your band date is the 24...Me 2! Best of Luck and let's keep up to date with each other. I'm having my surgery in Richardson...Dr. Benivides. It's through True Results.

  14. This is my band surgery day too. Best of Luck!
  15. I wanted to give a quick intro... I'm a part-time student and mom of three. I haven't been banded yet, but am hoping to be by the first week in March. I went for pre ops back in December and thought I'd be all set for the first week in January...but my thyroid was too out of wack...I'm hyper. So, my doctor adjusted my meds and we are waiting until my thyroid levels are better. I've been overweight all my life...so a few more weeks aren't driving me crazy. I want a safe outcome. I am here for support and to hear everyone's story.
