I had my surgery with Dr. Kurian on 5/4 at NYU. It went very well. I had no pain since then. At the most I've been sore. I've been following all the rules and am doing great. One surprise I had is how swollen my stomach got. I'm on 2 shakes, broth,crystal light, etc. All liquid. 2 cups of coffee per day as well. I have had no problem with anything. I drink everything slowly and take my time. It is working like a charm. The hunger is gone. If I'm out shopping for food or smell food it is a little hard but a drink of sometime works wonders filling me up. I lost 11 pounds pre-op and on Friday I go for my first check-up. I'm guessing it will be 3-5 pounds down. Good luck to everyone.

I'm having surgery on 5/4. Can't wait. Working hard on the pre-op diet. I started mixing the protein shakes with diet cream soda for an egg-cream taste. Helps a little. Wish we were both one year ahead of this. Wishing you lots of luck. Please post how everything went for you.

See if you have anything else wrong with you. I have a hernia that will be done at the same time so I'm paying half of what it would be. Try that.

5 lbs down since Tuesday. Added diet cream soda to the shakes and it was wonderful. I also pour everything over crushed ice. I follow every shake with 2 large glasses of crystal light. If you can't have carbonated drinks -- they probably want you to get used to doing it after the surgery, then make your soda flat. Take off the cap and drink it the next day.

Added diet cream soda to my shakes.. Wow--it tasted just like an egg cream. Try it. We only get diet soda until the banding. Those bubbles really help now. Started the liquid diet Tuesday by Friday I lost 5 pounds. Hope this keeps up.

There are so many medicines that you can't have a drink with. Zillions..go with that. I also know that there are medical tests that make you go on liquid diets also. I'm going for surgery on 5/4. Trying hard to stay busy. Good luck for the both of us. I have a fancy wedding on 5/2--That's 2 days before the surgery. I told them to give me anything to do during the wedding as I will not be eating. Can't wait for a year from now.

Wow. I started this day all gun-oh. Is that how you spell gun-oh? I weighed myself this morning (and boy I really didn't want to do it) and I actually looked around in case something was on me or on the scale because I've been eating each meal and snack as if it was my last and it showed on that scale. So I thought I really need this liquid diet. Anyway now it's 5:00. I had one shake and 4 more to go and I'm drinking crystal light like crazy because I don't to use them up.

There are so many places to post here. I've posted on the q&a part as well. 5/4 I'll be banded at NYU with Dr. Kurian. I start my liquid diet tomorrow. Glad to start dieting and stop eating like a pig. Starting to not fit into anything.

My surgery is May 4 at NYC with Dr. Kurian. I start my liquid diet tomorrow. I've eaten like a pig and can barely fit in my clothes so I'm a little glad there will be an end to this last meal thing already. That said I'm not looking forward to this liquid diet. I've a fancy schmacy wedding on May 2 and I'll be drinking water and diet soda so that won't be fun. That said because I'll have been on the liquid diet I should be able to fit into a dress and not wear a sheet. I have been working out at the gym so that has been my one good thing that I've done.

Dr Kurian is my doctor. I start the liquid diet tomorrow and my surgery is scheduled for 5/4. I can have 5 shakes (they listed several suggestions). I chose muscle milk and glucerna because they were at Costco. I can have diet drinks and sugar free pops with a total cal. count of 30 cal. I also can have one can of chicken soup. On 5/2 I'm going to a very fancy wedding and I'll just be drinking water and diet coke. Too bad about that.
