  1. Hi greatwhite067, I have to say that is the reason I haven't told anyone really except like 3 or 4 and only those I knew would support me!!!! I for one agree with your aunt she is right you have to do what's right for you not anyone else!!! Your not doing the surgery for anyone else!!! Also about your partner and her situation, that is her own insecurities in herself and how she handled it, talk to her about how you feel and let her know hey if you can't trust me then our relationship isn't going to last anyway??? My boyfriend is my biggest supporter!!! He isn't worried about that just wants me healthy and happy!!!! Well good luck and hope everything works out for you!!!
  2. Good Luck Blue614!!!! Hope everything goes great!!!
  3. I haven't had my new surgery yet but I did have the lapband surgery and had it removed and the only pain I had was from the gas when they fill your belly with air, the gas pains was the worst for me, and that wasn't even that bad? I am getting some of those gas strips before I go in for my surgery so I have them handy when I get home and right after the surgery. I also never used any pain meds after my first surgery? Well good luck!!!

Thanks Moni_0330 I am, and I am going to be a fresh new me!!! I look forward to this journey and I have so much support with everyone here, and at home!!! Thanks again!!! Good luck with your journey!!!
  5. Hello vonvon, it all depends on your insurance how long it takes for the approval. I have Blue cross blue shield, and it too about a week and a half. Also depends on what they need from the doctor. My doc doesn't send anything in till after I had all my appt's. So best suggestion is to ask your doctor, or call your insurance?
  6. Hi Karrilunney, Preop diet for me is 2 weeks liquid diet? I don't know if every doctor does it, mine does, its to help shrink your stomach and shrink the surrounding organs to help them get in their easier. They do it so that it's easier to maneuver in there. When is your surgery? The liquid diet at first is frightening but it ends up being really easy to do, my doctor gives me metagenics products it's all those Protein shakes and they give you Fiber to not bind up. I don't mind it much I have already done it once for lapband surgery. I am of course now going for the bypass. So I don't know maybe ask your doctor if you still have time? Good luck with your surgery!!!
  7. Mellie May, my surgery is March 19th, I start my pre-op diet next week on the 5th, I am really excited. This is my second surgery, as I had the lapband done and it didn't work for me, I had many problems with it, and had to have it removed. I am now going for the Bypass, I am skipping right over the sleeve and going to the final surgery. I really am excited to get this journey started and get my weight under control. I have been a heavy all my life, and I am finally ready to get to a healthy weight. I have many medical issues that prevent me from loosing weight and exercising with all this weight so i feel that this is it for me. I am putting all myself into this!!! I am very happy I have a place like this to go to when I have questions and or need just a little push of support from people who have gone through it all. Thanks and I will keep you posted.
  8. Im having Bypass on the 19th, i start my pro-op diet next week on the 5th, super excited!!!
  9. Hi Mellie May, I haven't told anyone but My Boyfriend and our best friend. I am not telling anyone till I feel ready. It won't be till after I have my surgery I know that, but I just want to show people that I can do that, and if they judge me that's their issue, I don't care what everyone else things as I am not doing this for everyone else, I am doing this for me, and my kids. I want to be around for my kids for a long time and at the rate I am going I won't be, so I need to do something now so I can be here. I love that I can just tell my story and show myself here because there are people here that know what I am going through, and there is support here, so I am telling everyone on here. I wish you good luck in your journey, and I support you!!!!
  10. Hello Nancyinthenorth, I am starting my 2 week pre-op next wednesday and I am excited and nervous at the same time. I am more excited, but I am nervous because I won't be able to eat anything, and I have great support at home but I don't expect them to do the 2 week liquid diet with me. I mean they are going to be eating , I am going to be cooking for them, my boyfriend doesn't cook much, and we have 2 kids that will need to eat as well with him, and so I will be having all that temptation in front of me but it's a good way to show how strong i can be, so I am looking forward to showing everyone that I can do this, and I will beat this obesity thing!!! Good luck on your journey and I hope that we can help each other in the future!!!

Super Excited. I got my date finally March 19th will be the day. I will be going next week to do the final stages of pre-op stuff, getting all my hospital stuff done, and getting my pre-surgery diet stuff. I will do the pre-surgery 2 week diet liquids only from the 5th to surgery date, and I will be all set to go. I can't wait. I have my support in place for when I have the surgery and when I am get done. I will be able to finally feel like the me I want to be. I am so tired of feeling like I do, and feeling like I can't do the things I want to do because I am to heavy and my body doesn't work right? I am going to do everything right and follow all my diet rules and do whatever I have to to keep up with my protein. I love myself, and I want to just be happy now!!! So thankful for this website for helping me to stay strong with this seeing the people post pictures and posts and reading everything has helped me tremendously!!! I am looking forward to passing that on and helping others with my pictures. Thanks and Good luck to you all!!!
  12. Hi yocolefleet I have all the same things except sleep apnea. I have a severe case of acid reflux and it is awful!!! I hate it!!! I had the band already and it has been removed. I am very sure what I want now and I totally believe in my decision now more than I did when I started my research!!!! Thanks for the advice!!!
  13. Thanks MissM see and that's what I don't want is to go threw the sleeve then have that not work for me and then go back and have a 3rd surgery??? I am just getting the bypass!!! I have decided its the best thing for me!!!!
  14. This is a choice you and only you can make, but I am a post banded person and I am on my way to get the bypass done because I had to have the band removed due to complications, and I wasn't told some of the things that I know now after doing much more research due to going to have the bypass done, that you have got to be super conscious on what your eating one the band and you have got to eat healthy or it's not going to work for you, as you can eat a cookie with the band and as long as you chew it up enough and don't drink with it, it's still going to go through. After my surgery with the band I could still eat a 6" subway veggie grinder? I didn't plan on it, but it happened??? I didn't have any filling at that point but that hole is still really small without the fill too??? You have to decide what is best for you? Good luck!!!
  15. You know what it sounds to me like you have done a great job of doing what you set out to do on the surgery, so my suggestions to you is that maybe it's time to let the cat out of the bag and let the people that your close to know. You shouldn't have to stress about going to dinner with friends or meeting with family and worried if they will find out. You have done this for yourself and who cares if they don't approve after it's already done, they have seen the results obviously. I think now you can just be like here I am and this is what I had to do to get my health in order, and if you don't approve well it's not your life and I am sure everyone will accept the fact that you did it, cause they love you, and they want to support you, but man I give you big props for doing it all on your own. That's insane, I had the lapband surgery prior to me now going in to have the bypass, and I remember how that was and I can only imagine how much worse this one will be and so I think your pretty amazing and I don't even know you!!! You do you, no worries about what others think!!!!
  16. OK good so its not everyone!!! I am hoping when I lose the weight there will be more sex and some freaky sex too!!! Lol cause I weight too Much to do the fun stuff now???
  17. Man I am not sure what to say about this sex thing, I don't want to loose the urge to have a sex life with my hubby!!! I hope for you all that you can figure this one out!!!
  18. TinyMamiOf3kids, so you didn't lose your sex drive till you got to where you are now, or is it just cause your seperated?
  19. Wow, so I didn't hear this??? I know I don't have any sex drive now, like I could care less about sex right now. I haven't had my surgery yet, my date is set for March 5th so maybe this will be something that I have to talk to my doctor about next week. Have either of you spoke to your bariatric physician about this? I would like to know?
  20. Hi Wallflower, boy your story about your parents sounds like mine. I don't blame you, but at this point if that is the way they are going to be do you really want to tell them before your surgery? I'm not telling either of my parents. My Husband is taking me to the hospital and picking me up, I am not dealing with my mom and dad, specially cause I had my mom at my lapband surgery and she just was all negative about having the surgery and not that I am doing the gastric bypass I can only imagine how she is going to be. I don't want negative, I need positive, and my husband is basically the only person that knows. I am not even telling our kids at this point cause my kids have big mouths, and I don't want my daughter telling my mom, she is very close to my mom and I know she will spill it. So i am just keeping it to me and my husband and then from there I will move on. I am just ready, My tentative surgery date is march 5th and it could possibly be moved up, just waiting on my doctors office. I will find out more next Tuesday. So anyway do you, don't worry about who gives you the guilt trip, tell them that it was a surprise that you wanted to surprise everyone with your weight loss? Don't worry about your house too, if your husband and friends are as supportive as they sound then they will be there to back you up, and help with those things that you can do for a little bit. When I had my lapband surgery the only day I had a problem was that first day after surgery, because they fill your belly up with air and they can't get it all out after so you get gas pockets in your belly but get some gas x strips or melts, and you will do fine. Your going to do great, just have faith in yourself, and that's all that matters is you not everyone else!!!
  21. Betternowthanever you do look amazing and just congrats on your success I am going to follow your lead and do everything I can to get to where I want to be too!!! You did an amazing job and you are my inspiration!!! Thank you for posting your story!!!
  22. BrandNewBrandy, I know that you feel that telling people is the right way to go, but I guess it's also the person having the surgery's own opinion as to tell or not. Maybe there are other circumstances for not saying anything. I know I have my own reasons for keeping it to myself, and I will not be telling anyone that I do not want to know till I am ready. I just feel I don't want everyone to know till I know that I have things under control and I can explain to the ones I want that I am doing the best thing for me. As my work people we are a small company and they are all very thin and healthy and they just wouldn't understand my reasoning. I am the only one here that has a problem with my weight and health problems, they are all very uptight people and they are just weird. So those are some of the reasons I have decided to go on the route of not telling people. I feel this isn't a process I need people to help me get through its a process for me to get myself through, and I love being able to come on here and talk to people and get ideas, and what not but that is cause you all are not judgemental cause of the fact that you have all had it done, and have been through all the challenges I have and that bigloser2014 has been through so I can feel at ease and comfortable on here, but when it comes to everyone else, that is just not the way it's going to happen. This is my battle not anyone elses.
  23. Emeree, I know how you feel, and to hide it really sucks, but you know what don't worry about how much you eat, and if you want to keep it a secret after they see you, then just tell them it's your new way of eating, portion control. That's what I am going to do. I just don't want to be criticized!!! I know I can't do this without the surgery, as I have tried so many times and failed, so this will force me to do it the right way and I will and I know you can too!!! Use the next 6 Months to get yourself together and don't worry what they all say cause you did this for you and your life no one else!!!
  24. Bigloser2014, I am in the same spot as you, as the only person that knows I am having the surgery is My fiance, I didn't even tell my kids cause I don't want them to worry, but they also have very big mouths. I do not want anyone knowing cause I am always had a fear of failing. I always feel like I am the outcast of the family and no one approves of anything I do. So I just would rather keep this to myself. There is only one other person we have told which is our best friend, and I know he wouldn't say anything to anyone, so this is the way we are keeping it till I can prove to myself I am not a failure!!!!
  25. Hey Liveliver, I did have the merina IUD a long time ago, I got it after my 9 year old was born cause I am not good with the pill and didn't want to go in every 3 month to have the shot done, so I figured that was the next best thing till like 3 or 4 years later and the dam thing was making me feel like I was going into labor and I had to have it removed cause I was in the ER every other day??? So I am sorry to hear your struggles. I haven't had my surgery yet but I hope to get in next month. Do you have thyroid problems? Is that why your taking synthroid? I take levothyroxin I have a very inactive thyroid, with Calcium deposits that grow on my thyroid gland if i don't take the meds they get larger than they are. So I am stuck, I sometimes wish they would just take them out, I am on meds for the rest of my life regardless so why not?? I hate the biopsy's they do!!! So anyway sometimes if you just give your body a little rest from not working out and all the stress its been under from the surgery and the IUD and everything else, it will kick start your body back into weight loss mode, so hang in there, down to 230 that is still a great start!!! You will do fabulous!!! Hang in there!!!
