  1. So today is my 11th month of post surgery, and I am VERY happy with the weight I have lost and where I am. I wouldn't change this adventure for anything, and I just want to keep the weight off and keep it off!!!

The things I miss about being fat!

@@Susan33, I wish I could say you won't loose your boobs, but it all depends on the person? How people loose weight. I know in my past I had never lost weight in my boobs before and so when I had my surgery I was hoping the same thing, and I lost my boobs, like I really didn't have big ones to start with, but I feel like I have none now? So just know boobs can be replaced if you really want, but losing the weight is so much better? lol, I am so happy that I have now lost 100 lbs and I am almost to my goal weight and I am so happy to be here. I wouldn't change anything about my journey, but I would change somethings about my body now that I have lost all this weight and that is something that can be dealt with when I get to my goal weight!!! Good luck!!!
  3. Haven't been around much, with my hernia surgery, I didn't get on here for a while due to swelling and the pain. I am now starting to feel better from that and wham head cold. I am so ready for summer again!!!

Thanks I am trying to get back to it, I have fallen back a little I did gain a couple lbs like 3 during the holidays but I almost have those gone again, and I will be back on my downfall. I have 6 months to my wedding so I am doing my best to look my best for our big day!!!

    3. ProudGrammy

      ProudGrammy

congrats on your upcoming wedding - if that isn't motivation to continue to do well, i don't know what is - you gained alittle, but you worked on taking it off!!!! ups and downs will happen through life - don't ever kick yourself iif/when you might goof, doesn't help anything - it is in the past, and tomorrow is a new start of to a sunny, wonderful day - keep up the good work - kathy

    Feeling a little down.!

Do you live in a area where there is no sun most days and it's cold from the weather and snow and stuff? I get like that in the winter all the time? Winter Blues? This holiday time doesn't help either. I have been feeling the same way, you have to find new ways of picking yourself up and moving forward. It's not easy but you just have to keep moving. Good Luck!!!

The things I miss about being fat!

@@green*eyed*girl I totally agree, I feel like when I was 100 lbs heavier I was much stronger and I could do a whole lot more lifting than I can now. but that also comes with weight training, you can get that back you have to work out with the free weights and use those muscles. It's going to be hard at first, but you will get it, and soon you will be just as strong as before if not stronger cause the weight you lost will help you move better and lift more. I am not saying lift to become some super steroid body builder but you need those muscles to keep your body strong, so use what you got and strengthen as much as you can!!! Good luck!!!

The things I miss about being fat!

@Gingerisgreat...AMEN!!! I have a wonderful husband that sounds just like yours and he feels the same way as what you just described. He loved me before and loves me just the same now. He is my biggest supporter!!! I agree with you I am the exact same person I was a year ago before I had the surgery. I got my surgery done in March of 2014 and so I haven't quite hit my year yet, but it's coming up quick and I know that, but I don't even care I am happy with how I am loosing and how I am doing in my progress, and I did the same as you not tell a whole lot of people before because I didn't want the stories but I also didn't want people trying to talk me out of it too. Like I knew this is what I needed to do to make me a healthier person. I was also pre-diabetic and I had gestational diabetes when I was pregnant with my 2nd child and even had to take insulin, and diabetes does run in my family so that was always a big scare of mine, and I didn't want to sink that low, and so I did this for me. I did this for my health not to change how I looked cause to me I still look the same, Just a little smaller, but the biggest difference is my health now is so much better, I had many more health issues other than the diabetes and that was what led me to finally just take the jump to doing this and I do not regret one minute of getting this surgery. I have had plenty of obstacles and hurdles to get over post surgery even pre surgery that it's made me appreciate all the weight I have lost to get my health back. So I wouldn't change it for the world. Thanks for the talk and It really helps talking to people that know exactly or very similar to what I am going through. Well have a great holiday and new year!!!
  7. I just want to wish all my friends here on BP a Happy Holiday, Merry Christmas and Happy New year!!!! I am currently down 100 lbs from last year and I feel good. Still recovering from my recent surgery but I am not going to let that keep me down!!!! Have a safe one everyone!!!

@@Gingerisgreat, the drinking and getting satisfied thing will work itself out, but as for the stares and the omg you look so good kind of things that are happening, I know exactly how you feel. I have the same thing happen to me but I am now down 100 lbs and I have seen people for the first time recently and their mouth falls to the floor? lol, it's does make me feel weird, but I have gotten over all that, and as for the questions when people ask, just tell them the truth? I do it all the time, I was very nervous about telling people the truth at first too, but now if someone says how did you do it how did you loose all this weight, I just tell them cause I am proud of what I have accomplished and proud of myself for going through all that I had to go through to do this for me, and I don't care what they all think if they think I took the easy route to loose the weight or what, I do not care anymore cause this was definitely not the easy route, this is just as hard if not harder than doing it naturally. Be proud of you and what your accomplishing in your life the rest will work its way through!!!

    Memories

I know how you feel, I am lucky that I have a very supportive family and in-law family but it's not the same as knowing someone in my area that had this surgery too, to just go for a coffee or dinner and be able to talk about what is going on with me. I really haven't lost many friends from the surgery, cause I don't have many friends to begin with, I just don't have time for dramatic people that I want to deal with crap that can't be controlled? I work all day and go home to take care of my kids and family. I don't have a lot of time for anyone else's issues, and I like it that way? I have always been a friend to all but a loner to myself type of person. It works for me.

  11. Well friends, I am back to work after 2 fast weeks of healing. I thought these past 2 weeks would drag but just the opposite they went like 2 days? I am happy to be back moving around but I am not even close to 100% yet from the hernia repair surgery (just so you all know, this was a post WLS hernia), and I am still very sore and in some pain. but had to get back to work even if I just stay 1/2 days for this week. I haven't weighed myself since before my surgery cause I know I have swelling so I am waiting till the 19th which is my 9 month mark to weigh in again.

  12. well I had my hernia repair surgery yesterday and surgery went good but I'm in a lot of pain!!! good thing I have 2 weeks off from work, cause I can't even stand for too long? hope to feel better soon!!!!

  18. Ok, so really started feeling sick to my stomach wednesday and left work early, kept getting worse through the night and then yesterday had to call out, I decided shortly after 8 that I needed to call my doc and so went and saw him and he is concerned about how big my hernia got so now I am set up to go have surgery on the 24th of Nov. I am kinda nerveous, but will be happy to get my second head taken away.

    3. pupichupi

      pupichupi

I didn't have a hernia when I had the surgery I got it from the surgery, so I have been dealing with it for about 6 months now and I talked to my doctor about it at my 6 month appt with my surgeon and he said not to worry about it at the time but now it's starting to hurt, I am actually getting my surgery moved up to the 17th so I should be ok, but I will be out of work for 2 weeks they said? So I don't know??? I am considering telling him to check out my gallbladder while he is in there doing the hernia just in case!!! So we will see!!!

    Need to TALK!

@@MzBrightEyez1 your story sounds a lot like mine. I was also heavy all though my life after hitting puberty is when I gained like 75 lbs from 8th grade to the beginning of high school and I just kept going up. I totally understand your thoughts of your son too as I have a 9 year old son who also is considered Obese by the medical terms and how heavy he is. I feel for him cause I see all these other kids his age that aren't as heavy as him and they run around like normal kids and he can't run like they can cause of his weight but also because he has asthma, and I believe a lot of his asthma is caused by his weight. I have had my surgery and I am now 7-1/2 months out and I am now down almost 100 lbs and I cook healthier meals for my family and I am more active with my family, and I try to get him to motivate himself too. He just actually finished playing his 2nd season of tackle football and last year he had a much harder time than he did this year. He did amazingly well this year that he wants to go back next year and he even wants to go to a Summer Camp for Football so we have been looking into that as well. He is actively trying to stay active and wants to do wrestling this winter, and he is just becoming a much stronger kid than he was before my surgery. In fact just from my cooking and his football he has dropped 10lbs. It is a scary thing to go through, and there are a lot of changes you will go through and a lot of ups and downs through this whole procedure but trust me when I say it was the best decision I have ever made for myself. I get mad sometimes thinking why couldn't I have done this on my own without the surgery and then I remember that food was the devil to me. I could eat anything and everything in site and I was ok with it, now all those unhealthy things I used to eat, I don't touch, and there are times where I miss having a bowl of ice cream or a chocolate bar, but most days I am extremely happy that I can't have those things cause they just made me the way I was. So stay strong and use this website as a venting tool, a success tool, anything, you will find 99% of the people on here are here to help, and want to see you succeed like they have!!! If you ever need to talk to someone that knows what your going through, this is the best place to do it. Good Luck!!!

The things I miss about being fat!

It is a strange journey, but I have to say I wouldn't trade it for the world, and my fiance actually likes it when guys look at me, lol??? he says it makes him feel good cause I am all his??? He is a hot mess!!! The only attention I like is when I haven't seen someone in a really long time and they see me for the first time now and they can't believe the weight I have lost. Like my dad hasn't seen me since like omg, around my surgery time? So no I weight 96lbs lighter and he won't even recognize me? Also alot of my family that is coming to my wedding in june, they are all going to be floored when they see me in person??? lol I like that, but the man attention only my man thanks!!! I have found that sleeping on my back hasn't been so bad, so I am ok with it for now. I hope that it stays that way!!!
  21. pupichupi

The things I miss about being fat!

Green*eyed*girl, you are not crazy!!!! I agree with you on a lot of this!!! The food, I miss oh so much, not so much the big bowls of Pasta, but spanish rice, and just plain eating without having to remember to eat carefully or your going to have issues? I don't wear low rise jeans cause I don't like how they feel, but I have to wear a belt with all my jeans even my skinny jeans, or else I am pulling at my jeans all day cause they feel like they are falling down all the time? Also I am a side sleeper too so I know what you mean about not being able to sleep good on your side so now I have basically converted to a back sleeper? The other thing I have found is that yes I have really bad knees(prior to having all this weight come off) but I now have really bad lower back problems where when I stand for too long my back is killing me for 2 days? I don't know what it is??? I have since surgery lost 96lbs and I am very happy about it, but then again, I too am getting way too much attention from the opposite sex, and although it feels good, it also doesn't feel good. I have a fantastic fiance that I love to death and back and I wouldn't EVER do anything to jeopardize what we have but it just feels weird, plus my son was playing football up till recently and there was a guy there that actually my fiance works with, and he was always hanging out with me and texting me and acting like he liked me and I was always trying to be polite but not give off the wrong impression!!! So I am sort of glad football is over now, even though I do miss it. This is all new to me as I haven't ever in my adult life been this thin, I haven't even weight this little since before I was in high school? So having all this going on is a little hard to get a grip of, but I do love the attention I get from my fiance and I feel so much more comfortable in my skin around him, and thats all that matters to me. It is hard to get past all this but you will do great!!! I think we all figure this out in our own way. Good luck!!!
  22. Starting to get discouraged that I won't get to my next goal or my final goal? I only lost a pound this week and I am upset with myself? Its getting so much harder to loose the weight?

    1. Ginger Snaps

      Ginger Snaps

Pupi, the only way you won't reach your goal is if you stop trying! Of course weight loss gets slower the smaller you get. Focus on the basics -- if you've slipped in any areas, buckle down again. If you're staying on plan, maybe try something new like a new exercise program to help kickstart again. But, DON'T give up!!! If you're following the plan, working with your doctor and NUT, the weight just HAS to come off!

    2. pupichupi

      pupichupi

Thanks girls, I am definitely not giving up, I am just so discouraged cause I felt like I had a great week last week and would loose more than 1 lb again for the 2nd week in a row, and those are the 2 lbs I gained 2 weeks ago? So it's just frustrating?
