    Feeling like a faliure...

Hey Liveliver, I did have the merina IUD a long time ago, I got it after my 9 year old was born cause I am not good with the pill and didn't want to go in every 3 month to have the shot done, so I figured that was the next best thing till like 3 or 4 years later and the dam thing was making me feel like I was going into labor and I had to have it removed cause I was in the ER every other day??? So I am sorry to hear your struggles. I haven't had my surgery yet but I hope to get in next month. Do you have thyroid problems? Is that why your taking synthroid? I take levothyroxin I have a very inactive thyroid, with Calcium deposits that grow on my thyroid gland if i don't take the meds they get larger than they are. So I am stuck, I sometimes wish they would just take them out, I am on meds for the rest of my life regardless so why not?? I hate the biopsy's they do!!! So anyway sometimes if you just give your body a little rest from not working out and all the stress its been under from the surgery and the IUD and everything else, it will kick start your body back into weight loss mode, so hang in there, down to 230 that is still a great start!!! You will do fabulous!!! Hang in there!!!

    Bypass or Sleeve?

Hi misty, thanks for the advice, my reason for bypass isn't for the diabetes my reason is more for gurd. I have it horribly and I spoke to my doctor about it and he said that with the sleeve its still possible that the gurd will still be there but with the bypass its more likely to go away and plus the weight loss percentages with the bypass too.

    Bypass or Sleeve?

Thanks DL as I have been doing a ton ofresearch also I found that bypass is the route for me!!! I have spoke to 2 other doctors and both say its really up to me as my surgeon has also said it was totally my decision but they say that the sleeve is just less invasive and it works? My surgeon is a bariatric surgeon and works with a hospital that does these very often!! Im not sure about his averages but I know he does a ton of them and he is a great doctor!!! I am happy with him I just want to know the difference between the two???

    Feeling like a faliure...

Hi lifeliver, I am sorry to hear about the gain and being able to eat anything wow that is crazy, what did you do go from the band to the sleeve? I had the band removed 3 years ago and at the time I was so frustrated with everything that had happen while I had the band that I didn't do anything after it and it's been 3 years and of course now I am at the same weight as when I got the band and I have decided to do the bypass and I was just wondering why did you decide to pick the sleeve and how it's going since you saw the doctor and had some time to heal? Well hope all is well with you, Good Luck!!!
  9. I had my band out 3 years ago but at the time that I had it out he was going to do the sleeve at the same time? I had too many complications with my band and that was why they took it out. I wasn't sure if I wanted to do a sleeve at that time cause I didn't know much about it, but now I do and I have decided now that I am going back to actually have bypass I don't want the sleeve. My surgeon pushed the sleeve when I went to visit him and told me I could get the sleeve and if I am not having success with it then I could always get the bypass later, but what's the point of doing 2 surgeries, when if I just do the first one as the bypass I can get down to business and get me healthy in one shot deal!!!

    Bypass or Sleeve?

DL, I saw your results after your first post, and I think that is amazing!!! Great job!!! I really appreciate your help in this, I do feel like I am leaning towards the bypass as I have many of the same issues you just discussed and I have since I was 16 and I just want to be at a healthy weight and point in my life. I like the idea of the bypass and I have a few people in my life that have had the bypass and say nothing but great things about it. My Surgeon just kept pushing the sleeve cause it's non evasive and because if you feel like the sleeve isn't working for you, you could always go and have the bypass still, but I don't want to keep having surgeries???? You know what I mean?

    Bypass or Sleeve?

Wow Don, in 7 months you have lost 184 lbs. with the sleeve? That is awesome!!! Congrats on that!!! See I have been doing a lot of research on this and the pros and cons of each compared to each other, and the dumping doesn't necessarily happen to everyone, and as for the malabsorbtion issues, I can handle taking a few more supplements, but the rerouting of the intestines is what helps with not taking in so many calories? When I went to see my surgeon today he did push on the sleeve, but ultimately it's up to me and I am a little scared about the actual surgery of the bypass than the sleeve but still not sure??? I would love to know how people feel about the bypass too?? I am still up in the air I guess!!!

    Other peoples Comments

I have a question for you, I just recently decided to have gastric bypass, but when I went to my doctor he gave me the option of having the gastric sleeve, I am not sure which is the better option for me. I want to see if anyone out there has had one of the other and tell me what they are happy about and why they had one or the other?

    Good or Bad

your stomach still needs to heal from having been banded!!! That is why your doc hasn't banded you yet. I didn't get my band for like 6 mos after being banded and that was cause I could eat a whole 6 inch grinder from subway? Now when you do get banded make sure you go slow, don't go too much at once, cause you don't want to go too tight. I went from being able to eat the 6 inch grinder to not being able to eat anything and now I am still having problems and it is no fun. Seems since that fill I have been having problems, and Im not saying this to scare you, but I was to a point that I wanted to tell them to take it out. This is something that I didn't realize takes alot to get used to, and so don't push it, take it slow!!! That is my suggestion!!!
  15. I am disgusted!!!

  16. Hi boshie thanks for responding to my blog, I have been banded since feb 10 of this year, and I do drink coffee like everyday, but I guess I irratated it, and that is why I was having a hard time eatting and drinking. I am now going to be on a liquid diet to calm things down for a couple weeks. I am sure I will be fine soon.

  17. Hey Sylvia, well those sound good, I didn't know that they made sugar free klondike bars. Yum I should look for those. Well I am not giving up, but I didn't not do well at all this weekend. I am seriously at a point where I just need to kick my own butt and get moving. I know what I have to do, it's just doing it that is killing me. I will get there, I am so glad you accepted my friend request. I know it is good to have people that are going through what I am going through, and I would love to beable to someone else as I go through it too. If you need any help please just let me know. I am planning on going to the local meetings/support groups. I think having others in my local area will be a good thing to have to talk to them and get hints from them too. Well keep in touch!!!

  18. Hey Sylvia, I know just what you mean about the ice Cream, well I sent you a friend request, go accept it, and we can keep kicking each other in the butt to get our mojo in gear!!! Good luck!!!

  19. Hey Judy, I also have lost a little over 50 lbs, and I do the same thing forget that you need to chew alot and slowly eat when I first take a bit, cause I want to eat, and I am hugary. I do love steak, but it is so hard to chew enough. I actually made that for the kids last night and I had a bit of it and OMG, it was soooo good!!! LOL Oh well so my port is also really close to my skin, I can feel it mostly when I stand up, but I don't have to worry about my pants cause my port is up higher. Oh well good luck, and keep in touch let me know how your doing!!!

OMG, Congrats on your weight loss, any special secrets you can share?
  21. Hello Maritza, sorry I haven't been on in a few days weekend was nuts, and then yesterday I didn't come into work either cause my mom got sick and called me at 4 in the morning cause she needed to go to the hospital, so I went and took her, thankfully the kids were at their dads!!! She had to have her Galbladder taken out!!! It made for a really long day!!! So anyway I don't get on here everyday usually just during the week cause I am at work and on the weekends I am just running around so much that computer is the last thing on my mind!!! lol, I also sometimes hate looking at the progress of others, cause I get discouraged and want to be like they are so bad it makes me upset, so I look sometimes but I try not to!!! So anyway hope you had a great weekend and everything is going good with you!!! Talk to you soon, God Bless, Tina

  22. wow, yeah your diet sounds just like mine, except add Cottage cheese, and lots of yogurt!!! I do the protien drinks alot instead of the protien bars, still have a hard time with the bars. I love taking the chocolate protien drinks and adding peanut butter to it and ice and making a smoothy and OMG so yummy just like a peanut butter cup!!!

  23. I do do splenda, cause I have a hard time with real sugar, too much sugar gives me an upset stomach where as splenda doesn't do that!!! You are lucky to have a trainer, I wish I did, I would love for Bob from the Biggest loser or Jillian to come see me, I would be very happy with that, they can come kick my butt around for a while lol!!! I think its fantastic that your close to the 100's, I wish I was, but I started in the 300's so I have to be happy with my success thus far!!! So anyway I think it's fantastic what you do and congrats thus far. I am glad we have each other and many more people to talk to that are going throught the same things or have gone through it, it makes it nice to have someone to talk to that understands!!! Well talk to you soon, God Bless, Tina

  24. LOL, Well Hi Maritza, my surgury was Feb 10th of this year, and I got it done in Massachusetts. My workout, to be honest is whatever I do daily, I have been slacking in that area, I should and need to get into some type of routine that I use my treadmill atleast 3 to 4 times a week and do the exercises I need to do, but I have just been so blah lately and whatever, so I haven't. As for my eatting, well I found that I can eat anything mushy or liquidy, but i have a hard time with solids, specially chicken or meats of all kind. I can not eat bread at all, but I eat fish very easy, shrimp I have a hard time with and same with rice. I don't know it's all very different then from what I used to do, so I still have a hard time at times, but I am doing ok so far. It is definatly a lifestyle change!!!

  25. Hey Morovis, lol, I don't even know your real name, but hey yeah hitting a plateau is a crappy thing, but you just have to push a little harder to get past it, I am at the same situation as you are. I have so much going on in my life right now that I am majorly stressed out so that doesn't help. So I am at 262 and still have a ways to go but 1 more lb and it will be my first 50 lbs off, which I am enjoying, but I am finding it tougher now. I don't see my doctor till October again, so he was happy with my progress in july after my first fill so he wanted to push me out to 3 months. Well anyway glad your doing good. Keep up the good work, God Bless!!!
