  1. He is an awesome surgeon. He did my surgery and took precautions during the 1st so that I would not get any kind of infection. He is very nice and my scars are looking pretty good too and it's just been a month since my band was placed. :smile2:

  2. Well, it's been almost 3 weeks since my surgery and I am doing ok. I lost 9 lbs in the first 2 weeks after my surgery and this week....nothing. Not gaining just staying the same. I go in for my first fill on 11/1 and I hope that start to feel restriction like I did right after surgery.

It's hard to try and stick with my diet. I mean sooooo hard. But I am determined to change my bad habits.

Anybody have any good advice? :smile2:

  3. OMG! I am so excited! I finally was banded on 9/13 (the day before I turned 39) and I am in awe of this whole experience. For a minute I thought that they might cancel my surgery again due to my raised blood sugar levels but I was able to get them under control and my reading was 124 the morning of my surgery. Since then, I have been eating the VERY small amounts allowed and really do feel feel full. I totally feel the restriction. Although I cheated a bit and tried to eat something that I should not be trying till the 2nd week post-op but quickly realized that it was not worth it cause I came up immediatly. I feel great right now. In May I weighed 234 and right now I am at 209. (although the day of surgery I weighed 215) So, 6 pounds in 6 days works for me. Lets just hope I can keep this momentum flowing!! I have already started taking my dog walking and it has tired me out but my heart rate is getting up and burning the calories! I hope this continues and does not fizzle out. I have even tried on clothes that I have not worn since the spring and they are falling off as I walk. yeah!! Thanks for all the help and support!

  4. Well, I should have had my surgery today but last Thursday my Dr's office called to say that they needed to cancel my surgery because they got my labs back and myTriglycerides were over 800 and I needed to get them down before they can re-schedule my surgery. Does anyone know how to lower them quickly?

  5. I go in on 8/2 for my second attempt at getting my band and I can't wait. I just hope that this time I do not wake up from my surgery to hear my surgeon say, "Sorry, we were not able to place your band". Though I am mostly optimistic about this surgery, there is a little bit of doubt that it may not work again or what if I fail at this too! I mean I have been on a thousand diets and they worked but I gained it back. I realize this is a tool and I need to change my life and I am ready.

I hear all these people talk about the band does not work and they have only lost like 15 lbs and they are barely eating anything but I never hear them say that they have gone to gym, gotten on bike, treadmill or even taken their dog for a walk. I know that it takes more than just eating less. It is the whole package and I AM READY!! :smile2:

  6. Well, good luck to you all. I am having another surgery to be banded on 8/2 as the 1st one was not put in. I do not have to do a pre-op diet, which I am glad for. I am so ready to have this surgery over with. I started this journey in Jan and wish that the band was placed in May (too much abdominal scar tissue).

Make sure to update the site and good luck!

  7. Well, I am having a 2nd surgery to place my band on Aug 2nd. My 1st was April 3rd and I had too much scar tissue so they had to bring them down and then wait a couple of months to heal. I have all the same scars though, so it looks like I had the surgery but there was no band when I woke up! But I can't wait for Aug to get here. Although, I have lost 10 lbs since my surgery which was just a little more than I gained before my surgery!! Good luck to all of you!

  8. Thanks for the support. I have a great surgeon and the office staff is great too! My Dr assures me that I will get my band with the next surgery. The only reason why they could not band me the last time is to make sure that the band did not cause an infection. I have faith that everything will turn out great! Right?

I am glad to hear that we will start to change our lives in the same month. Good Luck!!

  9. :cool2:To all my fellow May Bandsters:

Had my surgery on 5/3 and woke up in recovery to hear my DR say, "I am so sorry, but we were not able to band you today. You had too much scar tissue on stomach and bowel. We had to clean you out and now we have to wait for you to heal for 2 months and then we can try this again"!!

    REALLY!! That stung.....AND HURT!!

But I will have to wait and now be a July Bandster. Thanks for all your stories and I will keep on looking to see how everyone is doing!!

  10. So, I am going into surgery to have my Lap Band on 5/3 or so I thought. When I woke up in recovery I was told I had too much scar tissue to clean up and in order to not cause infection from a "foreign body" I would have another surgery in 2 months to get the band put in. I was just released from the hospital today.

This is so discouraging! I was so ready to start my new life. This is just another little bump in the road to my ultimate goal of being healthy.

    Thanks 4 reading! :bored:

  11. Hi Tracie,

I am from San Clemente. Not quite as far south as Sashay and I am having my surgery in 7 days. I am 38, 5'7" and weigh 237. It wasn't until last week I realized just how ready I was for this life change. All of my friends and co-workers as all thin, small & cute. I have never shared my weight with ANYONE. EVER! I was talking to my boss last week about all these changes that I will be going through and I found myself telling her my true weight. And then on the same day, I also told my best friend. That is when I realized that I am completly dedicated to loosing this weight, getting healthier and taking control of my life. For me, this was my 1st step.

I have been making myself crazy recently about the what if's? What if the band slips, or erodes into my stomach or I don't loose anything, but.....what if I don't have the surgery, what happens then. I have gained 7 lbs since January and I am a diabetic with Hypertension and a bad back with a lot of pain. And again I am only 38. So, with these health challenges that I already have, the surgery sounds like heaven to me.

Good luck and I am sure that you will get your date soon. Once you get it though, don't start thinking of reasons not to get the surgery. Keep up the momentum!!
