I've been overweight since I was 11.  It really messes with your mind to be among the largest people anywhere you go.  Lots of diets tried, lots of diets failed and many humiliating incidents along the way like the time I was at the county fair and when I tried to get on the scrambler with my husband (who's a pretty big guy) and was told to make sure I sat on the outside.  I guess my final breaking point was when at 40, I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes.  I've had high blood pressure for nearly 10 years, high triglycerides, and so on and so forth.  My family history for heart disease is ugly to say the least but when my own teenage daughter started looking at herself the same way I have for so many years, I decided I was done.  I also have another young daughter and I do not want my girls to struggle with this for the rest of their lives....I can't just lose the weight, I've got to be their role model for healthier choices.  In the past, I'd get off to a good start but quickly lose steam.  I probably know enough about nutrition that I could be a dietician but knowing and doing are surely 2 different things!
