  1. I wouldn't trade mine for anything. You just have to remember that this is just a tool an that you have to change your life style espcially when it comes to food. As far as PBing goes, no it's not pleasant but the few I've had weren't that bad and was stickly my fault, eating too fast or not chewing enough. All I've ever done was burp up the food I had just eaten in the same consistancy as it went down and it wasn't projectile. Infact It was catchable in a paper towel if necessary. My only regret is that I didn't do it years ago.

  2. Speaking of exercise, have any of you had experience with Curves? I've heard some good things about it and am thinking maybe that is what I need. I checked out their website and it talks about a 6-week weight loss program. what is that? Do you do that along with the exercise or is it a separate program? I may have to go check it out. We're staying with our daughter right now while our house is being finished and I saw a Curves down the street so I thought maybe now would be a good time to try it out. our house will be done Oct 12 so I could do the 6-week program. Anxious to hear...

I've done Curves and enjoyed it a lot. I quit because it was too far away and by the time my daycare kids left there was too much rushing to get there in time. The price of gas didn't help either. The weight loss program is a separate program through Curves and cost extra but I'v known lots of people who lost a lot on it. If there's one close to you I'd give it a try. They do require a year contract.

  3. I've had this problem before. I can't post replys on most threads. It always says refresh this page and log in, I do but most of the time it won't let me post. If this goes through is anyone else having this problem or know what to do to fix it.

  4. I lasted about 3 weeks like that. Any little thing filled me up.

Later on, my appetite was back and I could eat almost as much as I used to if I wanted. It really depended on what kinds of foods. The ones that passed easy, I was inhaling. The others, I ate like a regular person that isn't overweight.

If you start eating healthy and start making better food choices now, I think you can reach your goals without a fill ever. Eating clean and eventually incorporating exercise will save your life. Remember, the band is just a tool..not your salvation.

Amen to that. I'v had 2 fills and know I need another but am getting ready to go on vacation. Mypoint, it is a tool and you do need to continue to make healthy choices and use some willpower.

  5. I get the question so much Are you feeling OK? A Hispanic friend of mine wants a band but she says some of her white friends told her to buy burial insurance first before she gets the band. As one of her white friends I told her to buy burial insurance if she didn't get the band. She thought that one was funny.

  6. OK I should know this one. I'm 3 months out, have lost 40 lbs and have been there for about 2 weeks, I've had 2 fills, the last on May 29 and I am hungry a lot. I get my Protein in 70-100 a day, I get my Water in, over 60 oz. I know I probably should go get a fill but I am leaving next Friday for a camping trip then heading for Denver , Chicago, back to Denver, Kansas , moving slowly to see lots of old friends, Oklahoma with relatives then back home to Texas. I will be gone about a month. My concern with getting a fill is if I have complications I will be out of pocket with my doctor but if I don't I will loose the control I now have and much of it is will power. Also, when I get hungry should I eat protein even though it may be high in calories and fats between meals or should I do fruits and veggies which are low in calories and fats but high in carbs. Please help me. I'm confused. If I need to get a fill I really need it this week or the first of next. Any suggestions? Has anyone else been in this situation? HELP!!!A

  7. Hi Mt. Pleasant,

I live in Omaha, Tx down the road and I would really like to join your group on Monday nights. I know it's at the hospital at 7 tomorrow but can you tell me where to go in the hospital to find the room. I hate to wonder around like a lost dog all evening. I probably won't be able to make every meeting but one once in a while might prove to be helpful to my lack of weight loss since I've had a fill. Thanks Linda

  8. This question caught my eye, because I am battling with the decision now.

I started at 450 lbs, but they won't do the lapband till I am 327 (BMI 40 or lower). I've been eating what the banders eat, really to get my body prepared for what was ahead. Actually, I love the Protein drinks, fruits, veggies, and have adjusted to the portions. I've lost 56 lbs since March.

So, with still 67 lbs to lose before I can get the band, do I need it? If the lap band is a "tool", and I have succeeded in changing my habits and lifestyle to be healthy -- do I need the band?

I wasn't an overeater, but an unhealthy eater. I lived of soft drinks, fast food, and candy. I no longer desire these things.

I do LOVE LAPBANDTALK, because even with my diet/exercise, y'all keep me motivated. I guess I will make the decision when I reach 327.

You're doing great with your weight loss without the band. I've not been that heavy but from my past experiences I've been successful taking off weight withoout the band. Then KABAM, it would all come back on plus a little more. The band has helped me so far in loosing and I know when I do reach goal will help in maintenance. Of course the decision is yours but I would go with the band just for the maintenance of your weight loss.

  9. Listen get that lap band snug so that only particles can slip through. Here is a basic day for me. Protien shake am. mid morning ice coffee cafine free no sugar but my have xtra cream. lunch-yogurt 60 calorie Light and Lively with 2 tlbs. low sugar granola with dried fruit. 1 stick fat free cheese. dinner-chicken beef scallops (I do not eat fish) salad or streamed green veggie. No soda, no caffine, no sugars, no carbs. Instead of eating walk when things are bigger than you to handle put your I-Pod on and pund the side walk it is better then eating chips. Why have you only had 1 fill? It is almost a year your band is not funtioning the way it should with out the fills. START OVER AGAIN GO ON liquid DIES FOR 3 DAYS THEN START TO INTRODUCE THE RIGHT FOODS AGAIN. If you read my post I have lost well today it is 69 lbs. since 3/5/07. Get that strong will back and set little goals for yourself. I did when I reach 280 new coach bag. 250-new fendi sunglasses. For the first time in my life me the care giver is giving care to ME>

Do you get your Protein in in the form of powder because it doesn't look like you get much protein in with your meals? You are doing awesome and I thought I was doing good. Have you ever PBed or had any problems at all with things going down?

  10. LLSib, whats the email or website for your doctor. I looked him up on google that he charges $8000.

    Thanks

    Vixie

go to Ready4Achange.com and it gives all the info. At the time of my surgery they were doing a special to intice US patients. I wasn't concerned about the idea of inticing because Dr. Zapata was an associate of the Dr. who was insprirational in getting the lap band approved by FDA in the US. I also have a friend and another aquentience who went to Monterrey at this hospital but their surgery was by the other doctor. By the way, I was originally suppose to have my surgery by the other doctor (sorry can't remember his name) but he was shot and killed in a robbery. He was the victim not the shooter.

  11. Thanks all. I have not paid him. Its funny, I was planning on sending the deposit the day I recieved the email canceling my appointment. I know you are all right, but its a little tough for me. Im a self pay and the doctor only charges $6800. What I liked about him was that he was close enough that I could drive to his office to do the fills and adjustments. Whats odd is that I've seen postings raving about how great his bed side manner is. I wonder if he really has another engagment or if he's blowing me off because I question him about his price. The only other doctors that is in his price range, lives in Monterery, so I will have to fly out to see him. There is a Dr. Rodriguez who has an office in acuna, but his office looks so run down that its scary. They say he has all the latest equipment, but look at this link of his facilities Medical Facilities

Seeing my ex really "brought home" just how badly I've let myself go. Its not just the weight, its everything. When we were dating, I wouldnt have left the house without my makeup and hair done. I took a lot of pride in how I looked. Now its a pony tail and some lipstick in the car. Where oh where did the old me go. I just kept thinking, how did I let it get this far. I guess the process is so slow, that you dont even realize it.

I went to Monterrey and had mine done with Dr. Zapata. He was really great and my whole experience was great. He's with Ready4Achange.com and it cost me 6900. I am self pay too. Make sure you find a doctor in the states to do fills and after care.
