Surgery
I would definitely say slow it down especially if you have drainage, by the way its best you mention this to your doc. Please try and take it easy your body has been through a lot.

Ive never had a quiche but I looked at some recipes and it looks yummy. As far as the sodium goes, my doctor say's Im lacking so for me it's perfect but I could see how it could be off putting to some.

I got really annoyed with the whole mess of making Breakfast so I was pleasantly surprised when I came across these Smart Ones breakfast meals at Walmart. My favorite is the Cheesy scramble with hashbrowns. I eat one almost every morning with a Jimmy Dean turkey sausage patty <<< Try those too they are awesome and come in links as well. Id thought share this tidbit of info for anyone in the same boat as I. Oh and Jimmy Dean turkey sausage bowls are pretty good too :wink2: Enjoy!

Donuts are not worth it....what's your food that's not worth it???
There is nothing I cant eat but there are some things I just know wont go down right such as Gardettos snack mix lol yeah I just learned that one the hard way spending a good 15 minutes PBing  So yeah that sure as heck wasn't worth it! Also I find it easier to eat multi grain chips rather than potato...odd I know. Another odd one is it seems that I can eat sliced ham better than diced even if its tiny :wink2: lol

Thank you so much for your response! Even though I knew I was being silly you really put it into perspective. I guess it takes someone you don't know telling you to really get it. Again thank you and I am going to say what you said to remind me when I'm beating myself up over silly things.

Hello all and thank you for reading. So here is my deal probably pretty stupid compared to some but it bothers me. I have almost lost 50 lbs since Feb 12, 2010, when I started my pre op diet till now being about 1 month post op. That's good, I know but I can’t see it! Its killing me that everyone else can see it and I can’t. It’s frustrating! I almost feel like they are lying about seeing a difference because if there was one of course I would see it first, right!? I went down a pant size but I’m still in the same size shirts and everything else. My double chin is just as double....sigh..... I know, I'm just expecting too much from 50 lbs and as I'm writing this I'm telling myself, you have to be patient. It’s just annoying taking a picture and putting it next to one at your heaviest and seeing no difference and even though the scale is moving it’s disheartening to see. There is my rant I’m sorry. Thanks again for reading.

Post-Op Insomnia??
Im so glad to know Im not alone. I actually can sleep on my side a little here and there but I wake up and its a bit painful. I came downstairs and wrote this post and then somehow got comfy on the couch and fell asleep for a couple hours. I think maybe I will just do that tonight, sleep on the couch that is. I did take simply sleep and that usually knocks me out but yeah I still woke up last night. Thank you for your advice and I hope to report a good nights sleep soon.

Post-Op Insomnia??
So I had my surgery on Feb. 24th and the first night I slept fine but it seems that Im getting less sleep every night. Last night was my first night without my mom here watching over me since surgery and I swear I was up since 3 am finally at 5am I decided to go ahead and just get up. Unfortunately I suffer from anxiety attacks but have been able to manage them and haven't had any real events in a while. Well I did last night I'm still shaken up and Im feeling kinda nauseous. Im thinking that most of my uncomfortableness is coming from having to sleep on my back, which I hate. I can fall asleep but staying asleep ummm not so much. Im a wreck right now. Im even going so far as to question my decision to have the lap-band. Minor set back Im sure but what do yall recommend?:cursing:

Day 2!!!
Thank you for your response. Like you I am sure I will begin to learn what each pain or sensation is. I know that I definitely do not have an appetite as of right now just feeling kind of gassy. I have to eat Clear liquids and juices for a weak and then onto cream Soups etc. then onto week 3-4 soft foods such as mashies, yogurt, and pudding. Good luck on our weight loss journey!

Day 2!!!
Im feeling pretty sore and I think my stomach is a little confused to say the least. Im not sure if Im having hunger pains or just feeling bloated. Im sure this isn't abnormal, but is anyone else feeling or felt the same way or have any advice?

Postponed :(
Well I am one week into my pre op diet and I have to now stop and start all over again in a few weeks. Why? Well now I have to have a surgical endometrial biopsy the day I was suppose to have Lap-Band surgery :smile2: In a way im happy that they are trying to figure out what is making my uterus go wacko, for the lack of a better term. Although I'm still sad that I have to wait till March 9th instead Feb 9th to have my lap band procedure. This may sound pretty corny to some but I believe everything happens for a reason. So I ill just try and make the best of this, cross my figures and hope that all is well and just go with the flow. Thanks for listening.

Carbs!
Hello everyone, I started my pre-op diet on Wed the 27th my surgery date is scheduled for the 10th of Feb. They instructed me to keep it low carb and low sugar and to drink a protein shake for breakfast and lunch, I chose atkins advantage they are bearable. Then I can have a lean protein for dinner with a low carb veggie. I have had cilantro and lime chicken, baked chicken, I bought some fish and some tenderloin, this was all listed on my paper as lean meats, and then some. Only now Im seriously dreaming of carbs. I swear I only want carbs so bad because I know I cant have them. Last night I had a dream that I was on a cruise and I was eating ever carb in sight at the buffet lol I mean come on is this normal!?! I was telling my friend its like I went cold turkey on crack or something (just say no to drugs!) I know this is the pre-op diet but even after the band you have to be cautious of starchy carb filled foods. Its a life style change I know this but I didn't think it make me have withdraws :glare: Anyone else feeling the same way about carbs or any other food you cant have?
-
Questions about protein shakes!
Im drinking Atkins Advantage, not the best tasting but I doubt you will find anything delicious.
-
Is the Pre-op Diet normal??
I wish I had a answer for you I have to do a two week pre-op diet but its not nearly as strict as yours. All docs are different I guess. I suggest that if you are not sure you should call and talk to someone, either your doc or a nurse in his/her office. I wouldn't leave questions unanswered especially if you're concerned. Best of Luck!

Sleep Apnea?!?
LOL I felt the same way pissed/sad! I have my second sleep study tomorrow and I am NOT looking forward to it. In all honesty though with everyones input here I am feeling a lot better then I did before. It seems like its more of a good thing then anything. Yeah it may not be comfortable nor attractive lol but Im sure I can learn to love or at least accept it like most have. Im very anxious but now Im even more certain about my decision to get the LAP-BAND.

Sleep Apnea
Thank you so much for sharing it really means alot. I've heard so many good things and now Im not so freaked out anymore. Im not looking forward to wearing the mask but I assume I will get used to it like everyone else. I will be doing a second sleep study with the cpap machine on Tuesday. So we shall se how it goes.
