  1. I am gonna give these a try at the market tomorow.. my mornings are never good for breakfast and although delicious I have been living off a quiche recipie I found on the LAP-BAND® web site .. make one every weekend, feeds me all week.. but this would be a nice change. I just wish they could find a way to cut that sodium, if I want salt I'll add it .

Ive never had a quiche but I looked at some recipes and it looks yummy. As far as the sodium goes, my doctor say's Im lacking so for me it's perfect but I could see how it could be off putting to some.

  3. I agree, I like the elliptical much more than the treadmill, although I use them both. I can cover more distance and lose more calories in a shorter amount of time on the elliptical. A major plus for me also is that there is a lot less pressure on my ankles and feet. The elliptical seems to distribute my weight more evenly throughout too :)

  4. I agree, the Jimmy Dean turkey sausage links and patties are very good.

I haven't tried any of the frozen dinners, but know many people who agree that the WW Smart Ones are pretty good. Do you know how many carbs are in the one you tried?

Yeah I really like em a lot, I cook mine in a small skillet to get them a bit well done on both sides :wink2: For the one I eat here's the break down :

    Serving Size 184g

    Calories 210

    Total Fat 9g

    Cholesterol 70mg

    Sodium 510mg

    Total Carbohydrates 18g

    Protein 15g

  5. I got really annoyed with the whole mess of making Breakfast so I was pleasantly surprised when I came across these Smart Ones Breakfast meals at Walmart. My favorite is the Cheesy scramble with hashbrowns. I eat one almost every morning with a Jimmy Dean turkey sausage patty <<< Try those too they are awesome and come in links as well. Id thought share this tidbit of info for anyone in the same boat as I. Oh and Jimmy Dean turkey sausage bowls are pretty good too :wink2: Enjoy!

  6. There is nothing I cant eat but there are some things I just know wont go down right such as Gardettos snack mix lol yeah I just learned that one the hard way spending a good 15 minutes PBing  So yeah that sure as heck wasn't worth it! Also I find it easier to eat multi grain chips rather than potato...odd I know. Another odd one is it seems that I can eat sliced ham better than diced even if its tiny :wink2: lol

  7. Pictures, the only way I can see my weight loss is if I take a picture. Find a comparison picture from before, then take a new one in the same position. Then you can really see the difference, you live in that body everyday so the changes are subtle but from the non blinking camera it will really help you see.

    Thank you!

  8. Ash;

Patience, my Dear. That’s what you need. Patience.

Thus far, you have done fantastic. There is no other way to describe it.

I do understand how you feel. Once you have begun the process of losing the weight, every day seems like an eternity. But you will begin to see more noticeable results before long. I can practically guarantee that.

You had a LOT to lose. And you have lost nearly 25% of that, and that alone should make you ecstatic. And the rest of it WILL come.

Our bodies are very, very funny when it comes to weight loss. You can lose inches in the strangest places….the weight does not come off uniformly. There are parts of you that will just kind of hang on to the fat, for a while. But….it WILL come off eventually.

I’m not going to tell you to work harder, or exercise more, or any of that because, frankly, your rate of weight loss thus far has been very, very good.

I know that you already know all of this….you said it yourself!

So relax, and look forward to the time in the not-so-distant future when you can look back on all of this and laugh about it.

    It WILL happen.

    S.

Thank you so much for your response! Even though I knew I was being silly you really put it into perspective. I guess it takes someone you don't know telling you to really get it. Again thank you and I am going to say what you said to remind me when I'm beating myself up over silly things.

  9. Hello all and thank you for reading.

So here is my deal probably pretty stupid compared to some but it bothers me. I have almost lost 50 lbs since Feb 12, 2010, when I started my pre op diet till now being about 1 month post op. That's good, I know but I can’t see it! Its killing me that everyone else can see it and I can’t. It’s frustrating! I almost feel like they are lying about seeing a difference because if there was one of course I would see it first, right!? I went down a pant size but I’m still in the same size shirts and everything else. My double chin is just as double....sigh..... I know, I'm just expecting too much from 50 lbs and as I'm writing this I'm telling myself, you have to be patient. It’s just annoying taking a picture and putting it next to one at your heaviest and seeing no difference and even though the scale is moving it’s disheartening to see.

There is my rant I’m sorry.

    Thanks again for reading.

  10. Im so glad to know Im not alone. I actually can sleep on my side a little here and there but I wake up and its a bit painful. I came downstairs and wrote this post and then somehow got comfy on the couch and fell asleep for a couple hours. I think maybe I will just do that tonight, sleep on the couch that is. I did take simply sleep and that usually knocks me out but yeah I still woke up last night. Thank you for your advice and I hope to report a good nights sleep soon.

  11. So I had my surgery on Feb. 24th and the first night I slept fine but it seems that Im getting less sleep every night. Last night was my first night without my mom here watching over me since surgery and I swear I was up since 3 am finally at 5am I decided to go ahead and just get up. Unfortunately I suffer from anxiety attacks but have been able to manage them and haven't had any real events in a while. Well I did last night I'm still shaken up and Im feeling kinda nauseous. Im thinking that most of my uncomfortableness is coming from having to sleep on my back, which I hate. I can fall asleep but staying asleep ummm not so much. Im a wreck right now. Im even going so far as to question my decision to have the lap-band. Minor set back Im sure but what do yall recommend?:cursing:

  12. Hi There,

I'm on day 4 and I'm having some sensations that I'm trying to figure out.

I believe a lot of it is hunger pangs. I didn't think I would feel hungry right after surgery but I do. I would like to be able to have four instead of three meals so I don't have the hunger pangs as bad. I plan to ask my doctor about it.

Last night I experienced the sensation of being a little too full after drinking a bit too much broth. It was a tightness in the middle of my chest along with a little heartburn. I'm taking care to limit my full liquid meals (yogurt, Soup, pudding) to 2 oz.

I sometimes feel a tightness in my stomach which is relieved by expelling gas. I'm not having a lot of gas at this point though.

These are some of the sensations I've experienced. I guess it's all normal, but it does take some getting used to. Good luck to you!

Thank you for your response. Like you I am sure I will begin to learn what each pain or sensation is. I know that I definitely do not have an appetite as of right now just feeling kind of gassy. I have to eat Clear liquids and juices for a weak and then onto cream Soups etc. then onto week 3-4 soft foods such as mashies, yogurt, and pudding. Good luck on our weight loss journey!

  13. Well I am one week into my pre op diet and I have to now stop and start all over again in a few weeks. Why? Well now I have to have a surgical endometrial biopsy the day I was suppose to have Lap-Band surgery :smile2: In a way im happy that they are trying to figure out what is making my uterus go wacko, for the lack of a better term. Although I'm still sad that I have to wait till March 9th instead Feb 9th to have my lap band procedure. This may sound pretty corny to some but I believe everything happens for a reason. So I ill just try and make the best of this, cross my figures and hope that all is well and just go with the flow. Thanks for listening.

  14. Hello everyone, I started my pre-op diet on Wed the 27th my surgery date is scheduled for the 10th of Feb. They instructed me to keep it low carb and low sugar and to drink a Protein Shake for Breakfast and lunch, I chose Atkins advantage they are bearable. Then I can have a lean Protein for dinner with a low carb veggie. I have had cilantro and lime chicken, baked chicken, I bought some fish and some tenderloin, this was all listed on my paper as lean meats, and then some. Only now Im seriously dreaming of carbs. I swear I only want carbs so bad because I know I cant have them. Last night I had a dream that I was on a cruise and I was eating ever carb in sight at the buffet lol I mean come on is this normal!?! I was telling my friend its like I went cold turkey on crack or something (just say no to drugs!) I know this is the pre-op diet but even after the band you have to be cautious of starchy carb filled foods. Its a life style change I know this but I didn't think it make me have withdraws :glare: Anyone else feeling the same way about carbs or any other food you cant have?

  15. I just got diagnosed last Friday and I was / am P-I-S-S-E-D!!

I am having a really childish reaction to the whole thing. My tech was amazing. She had to strap me into that CPAP Hot Mess of a contraption about 90 minutes into the study because I was so severe. Good thing is - I don't have to go back because it was like two appointments in one!

I just keep telling myself to look at the "bright" side...this might help me with surgery approval because now there is something "wrong".:)

Still, when the girl called to get me fitted with a machine - I got PISSED all over again!!! :) LOL But I'll do it - because I want my band.

End result, End result. LOL

LOL I felt the same way pissed/sad! I have my second sleep study tomorrow and I am NOT looking forward to it. In all honesty though with everyones input here I am feeling a lot better then I did before. It seems like its more of a good thing then anything. Yeah it may not be comfortable nor attractive lol but Im sure I can learn to love or at least accept it like most have. Im very anxious but now Im even more certain about my decision to get the LAP-BAND.

  16. I was diagnosed with sleep apnea three years ago. I had no idea I had apnea until I woke up one night gasping for air and ended up having a panic attack. But it was all right in front of me. The snoring. The EXHAUSTION (which at the time I blamed on having a new baby). I was a mess. But I'm happy to report that I am sleeping perfectly all night long and feeling rested and happy all day long. :)

The sleep study had me anxious. I was sure I would be uncomfortable with all that stuff on me. And it certainly wasn't the best night of sleep I'd ever had (went in at 9pm, in bed by 10:30, discharged at 5am). But it wasn't as bad as I thought.

The mask took a few weeks to get used to. Mostly I didn't like the feeling of the air blowing into my nose and down into my lungs. The sensation of having my breath taken away took some getting used to. But after two weeks, I didn't even notice it anymore.

And the truth is this... I LOVE my mask now. Can't sleep without it. I am able to sleep in any position (side, stomach, face-down, whatever). My husband is also happier because I'm not snoring and gasping anymore.

But the most important thing is this... I'm finally sleeping. Its glorious. I had no idea how miserable sleep was for me until I was finally able to get a good nights' rest.

You'll do fine and I promise you'll be so much happier after you start sleeping again.

Thank you so much for sharing it really means alot. I've heard so many good things and now Im not so freaked out anymore. Im not looking forward to wearing the mask but I assume I will get used to it like everyone else. I will be doing a second sleep study with the cpap machine on Tuesday. So we shall se how it goes.
