    Energy Levels

Thanks, Judy. That's what I was thinking, but of course there is no way for anyone to know how your going to feel after the surgery. I would only assume that after losing weight the energy level would increase, but thought I would check. I'm hoping I will be successful in losing the weight I need to, but more importantly (and like you said) doing it slowly. I do not want to have the loose skin issue that many people have when the weight loss is too rapid. Keeping my fingers crossed!
  2. I have hypothyroidism and would like to know if there is anyone else out there that has had surgery that does as well. If so, does it have any effect one way or another on your results/eating/supplements/etc...?
  3. I know there have been so many posts out there about hair loss. So, here is yet another one! I am not at all a vain person...truly. However, my hair and my nails are the only thing I feel make me feminine. I know that's crazy, but that's me. Everyone has said it's inevitable and I will lose hair...quite a bit, I'm sure. However, I would like to know if there is anyone that has found a way to decrease the loss. Are there any supplements, vitamins, or shampoos that can be used prior to surgery to prepare your body...maybe to minimize the loss? Also, is there any change to fingernails?

    Hypothyroidism

Thanks, Tiffykins. You're the best and I appreciate you sharing any information. I have my fingers crossed and can hoping my surgeon can shed more light on the subject this Thursday at my consult.
  5. How does the sleeve change menstrual cycles? I don't have bad cycles (I've been lucky that way) with heavy cramps, bloating, and such. However, my cycles do heavily control how I eat. A few days before my cycles begin I feel as if I HAVE to eat everything that I can lay my hands on. And I crave strange things as if I am a pregnant woman, which if funny because when I was pregnant I didn't crave a thing. Also, does it change anything else about the cycles?

    Reflux or Sinuses???

Aciphex has solved my troubles. I haven't had too much excess mucus. My symptoms were constantly clearing of the throat, coughing, slight nasal dripping, and sore throat. The only side effects I know the drug to have (in common cases) are headache, sore throat...ironic, I know, and diarrhea. I personally have not had any of these effects, or the ones you mentioned. Where did you have your surgery done?

Why am I posting these on the internet??

Tennessee,I think you are fantastic! I am with TT...agree that you are brave and will be rewarded. I am going to post similar pics as soon as I know for sure that my dr. gives me the green light for the surgery. Otherwise, I will be devastated! When is your surgery scheduled?

    Reflux or Sinuses???

Aciphex (sorry, my original spelling was incorrect) has helped me, but like Tiff, I would recommend seeing a doctor about these symptoms. My allergist is located in Texas and did tell me that normally a GI would be the one to diagnose and prescribe for this condition. However, since I went to an allergist (assuming it was allergy/sinus related) she prescribed me Aciphex.
  11. Megan_SF, who is performing your surgery? What is the spinal tap for? (I hadn't heard of that either)

    Reflux or Sinuses???

I see an allergist for my "sinus" problems. These problems include sore throat, nasal dripping at times, and constant throat clearing. My allergist informed me I didn't actually have sinus problems, my sinus symptoms were caused by my acid reflux. The weird part for me was that I wasn't having the typical acid reflux symptoms, so I had no idea the mucus and throat trouble could be caused by acid reflux. My allergist prescribed me Acifex. I'm not saying that is what you need, but this was my trouble. In case I didn't describe this well enough, I found this link The Connection Between Acid Reflux And Sinus Problems

    What do I say??!?

As soon as I'm a sleever I plan on keeping my decision private, except for family and close friends. (Unless, like girly.girl, I decide afterwards to scream it from the mountain tops). I'm planning on telling people I've "made a life change to lose the weight" or that I'm "watching what I'm eating & exercising". I just hoping (fingers crossed) that I will have good enough results to give me reason to tell people these things.
  14. Hello, Bill. I have a consultation scheduled with Dr. Ganta (in Austin) this month for the sleeve. However, recently I have been researching Dr. Almanza's facility and staff. I have yet to find anyone that has had a sleeve done by Dr. Almanza until you. I have so many questions about going to Mexico for the procedure and would love to bend your ear. Please let me know what you thought about the doctors, staff, facility, and follow-up instructions. I have been mostly worried about the follow ups. It's my understanding there is a drain that will be in for about a week post-op...how is that handled? Do you have to go back to Mexico? Sorry for all of the questions. I appreciate any/all of your time.

  15. I know it's been awhile since this was posted, but thank you all for your comments. I am truly afraid of how much hair I will lose and how it will be lost (patches, bald-spots, etc...). However, hearing that you have all been able to cope with the hair loss and still do not regret the decision to have the surgery is great. I have already started researching wigs and extensions.

    Do I really look "sick"?

You look healthy, happy, and fabulous. I'm with creatinglee...you have been one of the main users I have been following for a few months. I love that you have been extremely honest with your progress and hardships. Thank you for being and continuing to be an inspiration. Keep up the great work and maybe one day I'll be right there with you.
  17. Girly.girl, you should go ahead and post your before pictures!!! I want to see at least 3 and I think at least 1 should be a full body shot. No matter how difficult it feels, I truly think it's important. If I can do it, you can too. :-)
