Bandster support for us Heathens/Pagans
lilnena replied to synicalchick's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Glad to see this thread here too! Hopefully we won't be kicked out of the March thread because we have beliefs different from others -
We aren't trying to start a discussion on what religion is best. We were just stating that our beliefs are "Other" and we started our own thread for it. Our spiritual beliefs make up who we are, and I don't want to feel like I'm not welcome here because I am not Christian. I'm still a March Bandster, and I think that is what should be important here

Bandster support for us Heathens/Pagans
lilnena replied to synicalchick's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Merry Meet Tracy! I am Melissa. I'm 32 years old and am Pagan. My husband Randy is Asatru (follows the Norse pantheon) I do have a very spiritual lifestyle and my beliefs help me every day! I last weighed in the 160's in high school (was overweight then as well, but nothing like today) I had a similar experience to you Tracy. I was raped by a cousin when I was 14, and over the years since had ballooned from the 160's up to my all time high on 9/8 of 317 lbs. I will be banded on 3/21 and I can not wait to begin my new life as a Bandster! -
My doctor makes you go through all the hoops before you can see him. (Clearances, documented weight loss efforts, and 10% weight loss) What they explained to me was that all that they have you do is MORE than most insurance companies require so it is pretty rare for one of their patients to not be approved. I do know for me it was easier than for a friend who has BC/BS - she had to sign extra papers and submit more than I had to because they knew that was what their insurance required. (and this was BEFORE she got to see the surgeon)

Hi Kyethra! I'm another in the "Other" category  I do have a stong spiritual belief. Its just not exactly Christian

:clap2: Jennifer you will do awesome! I'm glad we both have this site and each other. It really makes all the difference in the world! We help keep each other motivated - and I get to be your guinea pig getting the band first
-
Congrats Jen on your surgery date!!!!! And hey - your ticker is working :clap2: Now hurry up and tell the nice banders your date before I do it for you

Welcome to the group X-ray Chick! X-Ray chick and I are having our surguries at the same hospital with the same surgeon a week apart :clap2: I know this is going to work for me because I am determined to MAKE it work. I've worked so hard to get to this point and I finally am seeing it start to pay off. Yesterday evening I got a phone call from CDPHP (my insurance) and I am APPROVED :clap2: I can't wait to lose even more weight!

surviving the liquid stage
lilnena replied to x-ray chic's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Actually with Dr. Singh who will be doing X-Ray chic's surgery he doesn't require a liquid phase before surgery. So she won't be doing it for a week before surgery -
I am getting a little nervous too! The only instructions I've gotten so far for pre op is to not gain any weight I'm PMSing and gained 3lbs, but I know it will come off soon! I've been having a bit of the last supper syndrome the last few weeks, although I do try hard to not be TOO bad

A thread for super-sized bandsters - starting BMI over 50?
lilnena replied to Wheetsin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm so sorry Suzanne After surgery for 2 weeks I'm only allowed clear liquids - no shakes of any kind until the 3rd week. Hope you don't get sick again  -
It feels SOOOO awesome to have a date! And to know others who will be having surgery around the same date It is such an awesome feeling :clap2: I keep jumping around and I've called everyone who I know to tell them of my date
-
Thank you for the welcome! I wonder why some doctors want a pre-band diet, and others don't have any restrictions?

Thank you so much, I can't believe how excited I am -
My surgeon actually says he doesn't believe in doing protein drinks before surgery, so as far as I know I don't have to do any liquids until post op. Although I may remember having heard to do liquids the day before the surgery

A thread for super-sized bandsters - starting BMI over 50?
lilnena replied to Wheetsin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Just read back some pages, and I so understand the issues with wiping. That was one of the first things that made me decide - ok its time to lose some weight. I'm happy to say I don't have that issue anymore, but I'm thinking of getting those hygeine tongs for after surgery -
Hi everyone! I forgot about this board for a while! I've been doing pretty good. I've lost 52lbs since I started this journey in September A week from today I meet the surgeon to get my surgery date :high5:
