A thread for super-sized bandsters - starting BMI over 50?

Hi Stacy! Welcome to the super sized bandsters board! I'm also a patient of Dr. Singh's and was banded on 3/21! I'm slowly adjusting to life, but I'm sick and tired of clear liquids -
Well my surgery was the first day of spring. I was supposed to come home Thursday but wasn't cleared to drink liquids until after noon. They finally brought me fluids around 1:30 which is when I found out I could only drink about 2-3 oz at a time, and then found out I couldn't leave until after I was able to keep down 32 oz of water. I wasn't able to do that Thurs before 7PM so I stayed an extra night! The pain has been a lot more intense than I originally expected. My port site was the most painful up until last night. As of last night the incisions all have toughened up and don't feel as tender, but I think I overdid it last night with taking a walk at Walmart I'm having an intense pain on my right side about 3 inches from my belly button incision and about 5 inches down from my port site. I called the surgeon's office and spoke with the on-call doctor who believes it is perfectly normal to have the areas of pain change as I get more mobile and do more, so he wants me to go back to taking 2 percocet every 4-6 hours instead of 1 like I have been doing. I'll see how that goes tonight. I also have found that there is NO WAY I can sleep in my bed. After 2 days of it, and having to get up every 3-4 hrs to urinate, I need to stay in my chair with the recliner which I find easier to deal with. I also am unable to bend around to wipe myself without excruciating pain, so my wonderful husband is helping me out in that regard. Nothing shows true love like your husband being willing to wipe your butt for you :roflol: Ok, I think I've had enough sitting up for now, so here is my story so far

My surgery is in 8 more days! I went for preop testing and looks like it is all clear! I'm so excited, but Kyethra, I love your idea of doing a little ritual the night before. I think its a great idea! -
Hi everyone! Lately a friend and I have been discussing how we are quickly outgrowing our clothes. I know I have lots of clothes in the 30/32 size and 26/28 that it is about time to retire. We would like to be able to swap clothes with people who are growing out of sizes smaller than ours. Who would like to join in? I know I would be more than willing to pay the postage for any clothes in the 22/24 size or 18/20 size right about now Hope to hear from more people soon!

I'm very excited! My surgery is 2 weeks from today! :faint: Just getting ready and reading everything I can I actually found this online and decided to get it for post surgery to be able to sleep at an incline. I love that I can adjust the height: https://www.bmsmedicalequipment.com/ROL10080/product.aspx -

Whether it is outpatient or an overnight stay varies by surgeon. With my surgeon its an overnight stay normally unless there are any complications

I agree with reading everything you can find. Both Borders and Barnes & noble have good alternative religions sections. Synicalchick I'm glad to hear today is a little better for you. Looking forward to hearing your experience since it seems like 3/21 will be here before I know it! -

Merry Meet to everyone All are welcome here! -
Welcome to all the new March bandsters!!!!!!!!!! As far as who knows about my surgery - EVERYONE knows. And for the MOST part they are all really supportive. I have gotten a few "but you are doing so well, why do you NEED surgery?" I just repeat that the band is a tool and I need the tool, and that shuts them up

Glad you are feeling better. Just don't overdose on Tylenol I've been yelled at by my coworkers (nurses) for taking over 1000mg! -
