A lot of docs make sure that all of their women patients are not pregnant prior to banding...maybe that's why you have to collect first morning urine..HCG is highest then in early pregnancy!!

    March 2010 Bandsters

LB date March 12, 2010 and started pre-op diet on February 19th, 3 days on pre-op so far so good. I am actually full and not starving, which helps a lot. I am not nervous about the surgery but fearful of the unknown in a way. I want to be very successful and not fail!! There is a march bandsters community at Spring into March where others have already gathered for support if you are interested.
  9. I sent you the pre-op diet long time coming. I am a nurse and spend hours on my legs, but as for the woman in my family we all have nice legs, just big guts and wide butts. I am day 3 on my pre-op and all is well, have stuck to it without faltering. It isn't as bad as I thought it would be and I'm never hungry.

I root for K-State as well, but not when they are playing KU  I remember being a kid and watching KU play KSU and at that time I was a huge Rolondo Blackman fan and they lost in the finals to KU. Our family was divided 3 on 3...now we all pretty much root for KU, but KSU is still in our hearts!!! I live in southeast Kansas now, but was born and raised in Topeka and actually graduated from Holton!

So cool that you are being banded on St. Patty's Day  I begin my pre-op diet tomorrow morning and I'm a bit nervous, but really want to see all of this through to the end. I have done a lot of preparing and hopefully it will pay off. Just stopping drinking soda about 2 weeks ago now, I've lost 6.6 pounds and I imagine that was water weight due to retention because of all the sodium in pop, and probably a little less calorie intake. I can't even imagine what I'll lose in 3 weeks of the pre-op diet, it should get my weight loss into full swing, that way when I get the band it will just keep on coming off!! Anyways, congrats on your date and I look forward to keeping in touch with all of you March bandsters

    Spring into March 2010 Bandsters

I've spent most of my adult life as in a invisible person. I know how you feel and to top it all off I've become boisterous and loud to make up for the lack of attention. I took a class over the summer on how to communicate effectively and have actually use that instead of always being a clown. I've went into places before and shopped for hours and was not noticed one time, but witnessed the "sexy" girl walk in and they were practically breaking their legs to get to her and assist her. It makes me sick. I recently left a nursing position where the boss was picking who he wanted in the building based on sexual attraction....guess what? He told someone that he was going to get rid of the fat girls. It had nothing to do with our performance on the job, it was all about our physical attributes. So yeah, I understand what you are saying. Try to keep your head up and remember that those same people will still be there when you lose the weight...I don't plan on being mean by any means, but will take a little pride in seeing how fast they assist me when I'm smaller, then I'll go to the shelves and try on all kinds of clothing, and walk out of their store without buying a darn thing!!!

When are all of you March bandsters starting your pre-op diet and if you have already started it, what are you doing? I'm curious, do any of you know of what Protein shakes are the best tasting with the fewest carbs?

    Spring into March 2010 Bandsters

11 days total...I go back for clinicals where some lifting will be required but my fellow students have already told me that they have my back until I feel up to par! I'm doing this over spring break and actually it doesn't start until the Monday after our surgery, so I hope that is enough time!!! Anyone else out there got any advice?

    Spring into March 2010 Bandsters

I have two sons, one is 19 in February and he is very excited that I am going to be losing weight and as he puts it "it's about time!" My 14 year old is very supportive and moved schools recently and joined the weightlifting class there and actually is wanting me to lift weights with him and teases me all the time about drinking Protein shakes for muscle mass  My S.O. is coming around and I think is very excited about the proposition of a new woman lying next to him, and I'm not meaning another woman  I just can't wait to get started, but at the same time, it seems like there is a lot for me to prepare. I have been ordering different Protein Shakes over the past few weeks and stock piling so that I have what I need when I have to start the pre-op diet and for the weeks after surgery. I found out from the girls in nursing school that they've got my back, as far as lifting, when I come back to school after Spring Break, so that is very reassuring. I was worried about my school telling me "sorry but if you can't lift, than you'll have to wait until next semester to finish up!!" Right now it seems like I'm just waiting for all of my funds to come in so that I can get things together, and so far the income tax return isn't here, but it should be soon and the process of getting things sent in, tests done, and finalizing my travel arrangements will all come to full circle. Anyways, I hope that all of us March bandsters can keep in touch and share our experiences and offer each other support, because it definitely is needed.
