  1. What was your BMI to start with? Mine was 36 so I was on the borderline but like you I'm only 31 and my body is falling apart. I have arthritis in my knees, sleep apnea, GERD, high blood pressure and etc. I've been overweight since I was in high school. My insurance covered mine but only b/c my health conditions were so bad. I've never once regretted my decision. I do get those comments from my friends though. They don't think I'm fat enough for surgery and I took the easy weight out but then they are not in my body and experiencing the knee pain, poor sleep and etc that I'm dealing with. This is not the easy way out at all but for me I felt like it was my best bet for getting the weight off.
  2. that time of the month? I've been starving the past few days and nothing I eat makes me feel full. Around that time of the month it feels like I've lost all my restriction but if my pouch is still the same size then how can I be so hungry? Does that make since?
  3. For me I drink 8 glasses of a water a day minimum. I have high blood pressure and fluid retention and the more water I drink the less water I retain.
  4. Not really. I just eat a small amount of food and stop eating until my next meal time. I'm staying under 1200 calories a day and walking as much as possible. I've been sick with a bad cold and I still can't shake the cough so walking is about the only thing I can do right now. I got an Iphone and put the Lose It app on it. I use that to track every single thing I eat or drink. It's keeping me honest:)
  5. I have a pair of American Eagle's in a 12 that I can't wait to wear again. Thanks everyone! School went good today. Not as bad as I thought:)
  6. A few years ago after having my dd I did Weight Watchers for a while. I never reached my goal weight but I did get down to 174. Anyway at that time I had this great pair of Old Navy jeans. They are bootcut and 100% cotton with a mid rise waist, so no sagging, no bagging, no stretching and no panties showing. I loved them. Well..... I'm wearing them today!!!! They are a tad bit tight but only in the thighs. I can't believe they fit again! I'm on cloud 9 now:) I'm on my way out the door for my first day back at college after a 10 year break. I'm so nervous but I had to tell you guys how happy I am that my pants fit again!
  7. I like Syntrax Nectars chocolate Truffle. I also like any vanilla flavor with some canned pumpkin and pumpkin pie spice added in. I just got some samples of Click espresso flavored Protein but I haven't tried it yet. It's supposed to be good if you like coffee.
  8. HIGHEST WEIGHT 247 GOAL WEIGHT 140 SURGERY DATE 8/6 WEIGHT ON SURGERY DAY 214 CURRENT WEIGHT 186 HOW CLOSE/FAR ARE YOU FROM YOUR GOAL WEIGHT About 46 pounds give or take. I can't decide if I want to be 150 or 140.
  9. OMG! I downloaded Lose It last night and I'm loving it! So easy and I love the fact that can I add any foods to it that aren't listed in the database. Thanks guys!
  10. I'm looking for something I can put on my Iphone where I can log my daily food intake and track my weight. Have you found any good apps for that? There are so many. I've been looking through them all but I thought I'd see if you guys recommend any.
  11. About ten days my allergies started acting up. First my eyes were itchy and watery and then my head got stuffed up. Then I got a horrible cough and lost my voice completely. When I got my fill last week the doc warned me that a cough can be a sign of reflux but I told him I've been sick with my allergies so he said okay just keep an eye on it. My voice is back and I'm feeling better but I still have a slight cough here and there. It feels like the normal cough I would have with my allergies but if you had reflux from your band being too tight wouldn't you have other problems besides a mild cough? Edited to add: yesterday I had a stuck episode and I threw up a little. For about 2 hours after I threw up I did have acid reflux. I could feel the acid. I assumed that's normal but is it?
  12. Thanks guys!! Honestly things have been quite crazy for me so I may not be the best example of a good diet. I was banded in August then the first part of September I had a hysterectomy so I went quite a while with no exercise at all. I just made sure to watch my portion sizes and my snacking. Then in October my grandfather unexpectedly passed away so my diet got off track. Now though the biggest thing is I make sure I'm getting my Protein in and I jog 3 times a week.
  13. First off before doing the procedure your surgeon should have sent you to a dietician/nutritionist. The Nut explains what you can and can't eat. A Nutritionist would have told you upfront that you still have to choose the right things to eat. They would also tell you that you probably won't be able to eat a hamburger b/c you won't be able to eat bread very easily. As for the baked chicken- I can honestly say I like chicken but I can't eat it anymore. It gets really stuck for me but I'm fine with that. I chose the band b/c after years of doing Weight Watchers and not being able to keep off the weight I know what I should be eating but I'm always hungry. Now my hungry is controlled which allows me to make better food choices. I'm really wondering if your doctor didn't educate you well enough before hand. A friend of mine had GB and still has to stay on Weight Watchers in order to keep the weight off. The surgery is not magic. You still have to put all your effort into it. I really wonder if your doctor didn't educate you well enough beforehand. If you haven't seen a nutritionist then I would go see one and also attend some Lap Band support group meetings. I've found those to be really helpful. What size band do you have and do you know how many CC's are in it?
  14. I'm finally at my next goal weight! After hovering between 191-193 for a month now I'm finally at 187!! I'm so excited! My next goal is to get to 179:)! I try and take it 10 pounds At a time.
  15. You know I'm not really sure what size I'm in. My 16's are really baggy but my size 14's are tight but then my 14's are 3 years old so maybe there's a difference in sizing now? IDK. I'm really frustrated. I have 7 pairs of jeans that almost fit but not quiet. I have 2 that I can get buttoned but I can't bend over in yet.
  16. All the IV fluids they give you also cause weight gain. Don't sweat it! It'll be gone in no time.
  17. We don't have Marshall's or TJ maxx here. My friends are either way bigger than me or way, way smaller. LOL We do have one of those Lee factory outlets about 45 minutes away. I'm thinking about trying that.
  18. I got another fill yesterday that put me at 6.5 cc's. This morning I took my meds slowly and with warm coffee just to avoid any issues and that was fine. Now I'm drinking a shake and I swear I can feel it going down. It doesn't hurt but I can definitely tell I've swallowed something. It's just an odd feeling but normal I guess, right?
  19. Last night I had this sudden realization- I only have ONE pair of jeans that fit me even closely and they are still a little big and leave me with a saggy butt but I don't go out much so I wear em anyway. Well, I start college next week. EEK. I'm gonna need some new pants before then. I don't want to wear the same pair to class every day but at the same time I don't want to spend much on new ones and I'm really broke after paying my tuition:( Sigh. Our thrift stores here suck. I've been there several times but rarely find anything. Who makes a good fitting but cheaper jean?
  20. I got another 1/2 cc today. I'm still coughing so hard that I can't even think about exercise this week:( But at least my weight is holding steady.
  21. Yes it's very normal. I had mine out after I had my son. The doctor said losing all the pregnancy weight caused my gallbladder to act up. I haven't noticed any problems at all since having it out. I had it done on a Friday and was a friend's party by the next day. It wasn't bad at all.
  22. I'm glad it went well for you!
  23. My surgeon says 1 cup of food per meal max.
