Depression and Lap Band?
I have had depression for YEARS now. I'm on meds for it and they help most of the time, but lately I'm going through a rough spot and I'm depressed even with my meds. I think it's just temporary and it's due to a financial problem/situation but I'm hungry all the time, craving sweets constantly and I can't control my eating. I know it's directly related to the depression/stress because I was doing fine before this. Those of you that have depression, how do handle it?

Would you do this? Exercise question...
I'm having a hard time getting into an exercise routine. For one thing I just can't seem to find time. I have 3 kids and they never nap at the same time so it makes it difficult. Anyway I know I NEED to exercise. I'm in college and I have to take (2) Physical Education courses. I can take something sedentary and easy like Bowling or I can take a real exercise class. They have one that gets you into a 2 mile a day walking routine and then another that will take you from walking into a 3 mile a day jogging/running routine. Now If I take these once I start I CANT drop them or I'll lose money and my credits so I'm thinking that would keep me in check. Also I'd be able to do it without my kids around so that's another plus. My only drawback is what if everyone else in the class is thin, skinny and active? I'm not and I'm sure at first I will have a hard time keeping up plus I'm thinking about taking them in the hot summer months so that will make it even worse. Would you do this? I think it's mostly a good idea..right?

Sort of got my feelings hurt...
There's a girl in one of my classes that I have a lot in common with. We've hit it off great and the professor put us in a group together for a class project. We were talking the other day and she's like I've lost 100 pounds. I had gastric bypass. So I admitted that I've had Lap Band. She basically rolled her eyes at me. She asked me how I ever weighed enough to have surgery, then she told me she started out at 350 pounds. She acted like it was only acceptable to do weight loss surgery if your 300 to 350 pounds to start with. Now I don't feel like telling her anything else. I think she thinks I took the easy way out and I'm not sure why. She's obviously dealt with the same struggles that I have. Why do I even let this stuff bother me?

BANDED 11/29/10, ONLY LOST 10 LBS....WTH...
Are you logging your daily calories? If not you need to. If your not writing down everything you eat then it's hard to know how many calories a day you are really getting.

Crazy appointment with my PCP yesterday..
Lately I have a lot of bruises on me and I don't know why so I went to my PCP to talk about it. She said it could be as simple as a Vitamin C deficiency. She did some lab work and said she will call tomorrow with the results but here's the crazy part: She says to me: It's been 8 months since you were banded why are you not at your goal weight yet? Why are you still losing weight? By now you should have stopped losing weight and been at your goal weight/maintaining. Has the surgeon said why you aren't at your goal? What does he intend to do to get you to your goal? I was like WTH??? It doesn't work like that. It still takes time to lose the weight. It's not a magic bullet. Seriously. I just explained to her that you still lose weight slowly with the band and that my band is not at it's maximum feel level. I also told her I figure since I only have around 30 more pounds left to lose that it's going to come off slower right? I'm not her only Lap Band patient so I thought she was more educated about it than this.

Constipation
I use natural calm. Mix a small amount of it with a small amount of Water. Stir it up well and let it sit for a few minutes then stir it again to help the fizz go away and then drink it. You drink it before bed at night. I love it. It works really, really great for me. http://www.vitacost.com/Peter-Gillham-Natural-Calm

What do you do when Aunt Flow comes to town?
Well I don't have my uterus anymore but I do have my ovaries still. I know when AF should arrive because I'm a bottomless pit. I go from getting stuck on 6 bites if meat to being able to eat roast and bread with no pain, sliming or stuck episodes. It's like night and day. I hate it and I'm still trying to figure out how to handle it.

So who do I see about my bruises anyway?
I'm bruising really easy lately. My wrists look like someone has grabbed me and shook me. I'm thinking it's probably some sort of Vitamin deficiency or anemia but I'm wondering should I make an appointment with my PCP to check this out or my Lap Band surgeon? I mean would my surgeon know more about what to look for or not really?

Allergic Reaction
Do you have any other allergies? I ask because itching all over can also be an allergy to really anything. Trees, pollen, grass, dust etc. If nothing else see an allergy specialist and they can pin point EXACTLY what's causing it.

Resee's PB protein shake yummm!!!!
I REFUSE to bring Nutella into my house..... because I'm afraid I'd eat it all. LOL Seriously. I've never tried it and I'm scared too.

caffeine
Every surgeon is different on this. Mine says caffeine is fine as long as your getting enough to drink since caffeine is a diuretic. I have to have my 2 cups of caffeinated coffee in the mornings. I just can't get going without it.

Bruising easily anyone?
No my next appointment with my PCP is in a few weeks. I'll definitely mention it to her.

Bruising easily anyone?
I keep teasing dh. I keep telling him if I don't find the cause of these bruises people are going to think he's doing it. My wrist really looks like someone just squeezed the heck out of it.

Bruising easily anyone?
Sorry guys. Double post

Bruising easily anyone?
I have little bruises all over mr lately. My wrist looks like someone grabbed me and wouldnt let go and I also have little bruises on my inner thighs....which has me stumped because they are so chubby how could they possibly be hit hard enough to bruise? Do you think it's just a coincidence or something nutritional that I'm missing?

OMG...1st fill a couple hours ago!
Definitely stick to liquids for 24 hours after a fill, then try mushies and then real food:) It works better that way.
-
soft drink
My surgeon also says no carbonated drinks..ever. That includes sparkling fizzy water and cokes.

Should I unfill? Please read....
Okay I've been having some issues with getting stuck. I threw up once a day for 3 days straight but I've been fine since then. As long as I eat solid foods like steak or fish I get full on 8-9 small bites. The problem is within 2 hours I'm starving again so I'm not sure if I'm truly getting full or if what I'm feeling is just discomfort b/c my band is maybe too tight. I can eat all the junk food and soft food I want with no problems. The only thing that worries me about doing an unfill is my surgeon only sees patients 2 days a week, he's in surgery the rest of the week. So If I get an unfill and it's too much then it maybe 3-4 weeks before I can get back in to see him again. My last fill was the first week of February and it didn't seem to make a difference until about 3 weeks ago when my band suddenly got tighter all by itself. Opinions?

Huge NSV
Thanks everyone! Now I have 2 months worth of unopened BP meds but my MIL takes the same thing as me so I guess I'll donate them to her. I'm happy to be off them!
