My weight gain really started after my hysterectomy in 2001. My ob/gyn doctor placed me on a hormone shot that was filled with high levels of steroids without telling me. He had me coming in every three weeks giving me 2.5 cc’s each time. The weight was coming on fast and according him, I shouldn't worry. I went into the hospital to have my total hysterectomy weighing 130, a weight I had been at give or take a few pounds for years. My surgery was in June of 2001, by October of that same year, I was at 179. By August of the following year, I hit an all time high at 228. I tried with everything I could to lose the weight, walk, go to the gym with my friends, but the weight was still there. He kept assuring me that the shots had nothing to do with my weight gain. It wasn't until I woke up one morning so swollen; I could barely walk two feet to the bathroom. I went to my regular doctor to find out that the hormone shot my ob/gyn doctor was giving me was not only loaded with high levels of steroids, but the dose was supposed to be no more than five cc in a ninety day period. I immediately stopped going in for shots and when I questioned the office, he really had nothing to say. We are not “sue happy” and he did stop practicing, when I mentioned a possible suit. I thought maybe stopping the shots would allow the weight to come off. Here we are nine years later and no matter I have done to lose the weight, it just won’t come off. I now have high blood pressure which we do have under control and I need to have help getting this weight off. I don’t want to continue with fad diets that just don’t work. I have a good personality and ask anyone that knows me, telling me I can’t do something just makes me want to do it more. I am a positive person and hate to be around negative people. I need this and know it is time.
