  1. I think most of us had this thought at some point pre-op...but now I'm 5 months post op and can say yes it does work! As long as you follow the rules and use common sense you'll be fine . Some lose fast, some lose slow, not everyone will be a size 2, but if we do as we're supposed to we will be healthier (which, really, isn't that the goal???). It's so much easier when you're not starving to death all the time. Eating a taco and being full instead of eating 3 tacos with Beans and rice and chips and still wanting more....it's absolutely amazing. Such a gift an amazing opportunity that we have been blessed with! HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 204.2
  2. The first time I went shopping (about 3 months post op), I left with nothing and went home crying....nothing fit right, the smaller sizes had my funky fat hanging out all over, the larger sizes were enormous. It does get better!!! HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 204.2
  3. Feel your pain, I'm just on the cusp of the big 200 too....and asking forever HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 204.2
  4. I had to do the 2 week shake evilness for both my band and my RNY. For my band I was told to lose 10 pounds 'or else', for my RNY I was just told to lose something. Same surgeon. I assume its because I was smaller RNY ore-RNY but I've often wondered if it wasn't because I'd already proven myself to him. HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 204.2
  5. Yes ma'am, no wedding bands. Would actually recommend you leave it at home for the duration so there's no worry of it getting lost or stolen. HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 204.2
  6. Look at you looking all sassy with the hand on the hip! You look awesome in that dress!!!! HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 204.2
  7. I was told I'd have to remove all removal jewelry. HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 204.2
  8. Kroger had all their individual protein bars on sale last weekend. Was awesome, got a dozen different types and favors....and liked maybe 2 of em :/ HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 204.2
  9. Ask your doc. I do not take extra Iron but my iron levels are staying fine. Iron is easy to overdose on so I wouldn't take extra unless you've got approval! HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 204.2
  10. Because you've lived a lifetime of those fears and insecurities! They don't just vanish with the weight. In your mind you still remember the humiliation of the failed attempt. It takes a while to build yourself back up. Sounds like you've got a good guy by your side to support you with this. I say make it fun and goofy and just ride that pony, conquer that fear, you'll feel like you've climbed an enormous mountain once you've succeeded!!! Plus the boost of self confidence would be awesome . Don't be so hard on yourself!!!! HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 204.2
  11. I'm 2 a day as well. HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 204.2
  12. I do not have the technical answer for that, sorry. My non-technical reply is proceed with caution. If you'll be doing things that your MD says you need to off for and your employer finds out, there might be an issue. If you're driving to aunt Mables wedding and not really doing much, it's one thing. If you're flying to Italy and hiking in the mountains, it's another.... HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 204.2
  13. I kept one outfit. Put it on a couple weeks ago ad had a good laugh. Man oh man that was ugly.
  14. My compression shorts are so loose they just flop around on me. 3 months ago they were tight! Life is good! Plus I got hit on again today!!!! I could get used to this. And, for the very first time ever, someone said 'you look awesome, you don't need to lose any more weight!!!' I told her I had 50 til a normal BMI...she thinks I'm nuts HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 204.2
  15. I'm 5 months post...and still waiting....gotta find a partner, but when I do, I'm gonna rock his world!!!!! Most energy I've had in forever!!!!! HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 204.2
  16. Lol, no problem! I know we all want to lose and lose quickly, but we've got a lifetime ahead of us. Why not enjoy the journey and not be crazy obsessive about every step. It won't kill us if it takes 3-4 extra months to get to goal....so long as we get there HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 204.2
  17. Definitely keep those pics!!!! Someday you'll be trilled you have em . Congrats on almost being there!!!!! HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 204.2
  18. So I guess just having that match membership but never actually responding to anyone won't cut it???? HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 204.2
  19. Keep in mind, there's fat and there's 'weight'. We are trying to lose fat. The scale cannot differentiate between fat and 'weight'. A pound of fat has 3500 calories. In order to gain 4 pounds of fat you'd have to have eaten 14,000 calories....at 2 1/2 weeks post-op, I don't think you could eat 14,000 calories in a week if you tried!!! Have you pooped? Are you retaining Water? Step away from the scale, take a deep breath, and chill! If you're following your docs rules you WILL lose weight. But I'll warn you, if you're already freaking over the scale this is going to be a LONG road!!!! There are ups and downs, you will stall, you will get frustrated beyond words, but if you follow the rules you'll lose weight. And if you don't follow rules, well, you'll probably lose some too, but likely not as much as you're hoping . Good luck! You got this!!! (Now put the scale away!!!!) HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 204.2
