  1. I lost a lot of hair starting around 3.5 months.....I also average 3lbs. weight loss/week. I'm now in month 7 and my weight loss has slowed down (I lost 70 lbs in the first 4-5 months)....my hair is finally growing back. I have 1" strands popping up all over the place....if I pull it back into a ponytail it looks like fuzz all over my head.

So thankfully, it's coming back. I do believe it's the rapid loss and that it does come back. It looks kind of funny now but I look & feel great!!!!!

Hang in there....I'm sure it will come back. Best of luck to you!!

  2. I eat ice cream - yes, it's wasted calories....but this is the rest of your life....I say enjoy it. I'm 6 months post op and down about 75 lbs. I do exercise daily - weight training and cardio - so I allow myself a little treat now and then. And when I do, I cut down on other foods for the day.

    Good luck to you!!

  3. I'm also 6 months post op and my hair looks absolutely awful!!! It was thin to begin with and now you can see my scalp.....I'm too young to be seeing my scalp. BUT, I have lost 70 lbs. so I guess I can live with the balding......as long as it's temporary (I hope). I do notice little short hairs...about an inch in length now - starting to pop up all over. If I pull my hair into a pony tail....my whole head looks fuzzy because the short hairs stick through. I can only hope it's on it's way back.....

  4. My hair started falling out like crazy around 4 months post op.....it's already thin and now I'm 6 months post op and it's still falling out. I always get enough Protein (at least 70-80 grams a day) and always take my Vitamins so it can't be that. I did lose 70 lbs.....so it must be the rapid weight loss. I started to eat more and have been maintaining my weight to see if it will start growing back (can see my scalp).....I still have 20 lbs to go, but trying to slow it down for my hair's sake.....

  5. I'm 5 months out and have lost 70 lbs. I drink white wine often......most times a bottle at a time (about 4 glasses). I always drink it with a full glass of ice so I'm getting as much Water as wine. The only problems it has caused me is that I tend to eat bad stuff like Cookies and chips after (or during) drinking the wine. I do enjoy a little buzz here and there. I haven't gained any weight back.....but I do exercise a lot.

I guess if you were a drinker before surgery, than it shouldn't cause problems. If I didn't drink before, I probably wouldn't now......but I never get sick from it nor do I get hangovers.....everyone is different.

Best of luck to you in your journey!!!!

  6. Hey just wondered how everyone was doing. I was banded on 4/19/10. I have lost about 35 pounds (which I am soooooo grateful for) and have just started having a problem with hair loss. Has anyone else experienced this? I thought I would have to loose like 100lbs quickly to loose my hair. Also do most of you feel like you have hit restriction yet? How many fills have you had? Sorry for all the questions but I just am struggling a little bit because I don't feel like I have lost enough weight, I don't have restriction and now my hair is falling out!

I was doing great - lost 65 lbs since April 9th, but I think I've put back about 5 lbs in the past week. Been eating like crazy....bad stuff - lots of wine, movie theater popcorn, ice cream sundaes, fritos corn chips, oh....and lots of wine...LOL - I have to get control of this. I put off my 3rd fill because of vacations and the end of summer. I also have been losing A LOT of hair (another reason I wanted to slow down). I do exercise a lot....I walk/jog 5 miles 3-4 days a week and take a weight training class 2-3 times a week....I think that's where the loss came from. As soon as my kids get back to school I'll get back on track and get another fill.

    Good Luck everyone!!

  7. Hello all!!! I'm still here also (just not as often). I've lost 60 lbs as of today and went from a size 22 to a 12

I walk 4-5 miles at least 3-4 days/week and take a weight training class 2-3 times a week. At least I try to do these things.....it really has helped with all around toning.

I've only had 2 fills and my doc doesn't tell me how much he puts in there, so I have no idea. He told me that's not important.....it's judged by how I feel. I have my 3rd fill next week, but I might not get it .....I feel pretty good.

I have never vomited and only felt a little stuck about 4 times that didn't last very long. I have fallen off the wagon quite a few times....White wine, pizza, ice cream - things that I really shouldn't be eating/drinking - BUT - I can only eat a little bit of it which is GREAT!! (except the wine.....that always goes down smoothly)

I am SO happy with my decision to get this band!!!!

  8. What was the date of your surgery? 4/9/10

How healthy did you/do you eat? I follow the rules 90% of the time, although I do drink wine more than I should.

How much do you exercise? weight training class 2-3 times week, walk an hour 3-4 times week.

How much have you lost? 55 lbs. in 3 1/2 months

Are you happy with your results? yes, very

  9. My doc doesn't measure the fills.....I asked him how much he put in and he said not to focus on that - to focus on how I felt. I did do the swallow test though....he filled the band, then had me drink something gross while looking at the xray and slowly unfilled it until he could see the liquid go down. My next fill won't be done that way. I must say though, that I feel like I have absolutely no restriction....I'm starving all the time - even at 2 slices of pizza 2 months post op....

  10. I'm 6 weeks post op and had to survive on my own will power until yesterday when I got my 1st fill. My surgeon doesn't put any fill in until 6 weeks post op. Today is my first day with the fill and I don't feel much different yet, other than the gurgling sound of the Water & food going down a little slower.

My nutrionist warned me that if I ate too much, even if I didn't feel full, I could stretch the new pouch and that would defeat the purpose of the band. I think you just have to use your own willpower and focus on the long term - it will get easier and it will pay off down the road.....until then - welcome to what I've heard is called bandster hell......

I must say though, that the powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury Protein shakes have saved me.....they are very filling and do not have any sugar and barely any carbs and they are very good. My doctor recommended them. They can only be purchased online at unjury.com. I add stuff to them, like to the chocolate - I add a drop of peppermint extract and ice (tastes like a thin mint girl scout cookie) and to the vanilla shake, I add almond extract and ice - that's also very good. I blend them in the magic bullet (which I love) - or they can be blended in a blender. They are great!!!

Best of luck to you on your journey!!

  11. I can also feel my port very well......I'm 6 weeks post op and my husband calls me a turkey because he said the port feels like the pop up timer on a turkey (only bigger). I can feel it the most when I'm standing up - I believe it's totally normal.

As far as the Fluid goes.....I did not have that, but if it's clear, I'm sure it's nothing. I did have an infection in the port incision 2 days post op.....I had a very bright red area that started to spread and was hot to the touch. I called my doc and described it to him.....he called in an antibiotic and I was fine within a week.

Good luck to you!! It only gets better :)

  12. Hello everyone!! I was banded April 9th and also had my first fill today. It was simple - tiny tiny pinch.....barely noticed it. My doc did it under fluorscopy and does not measure the amount of saline injected into the band - so I have no idea how much he put in. He filled the band, I swallowed some clear yucky stuff then, while watching the screen, he pulled some saline out until he could see the Fluid move through.....it was very interesting. I've had 3 Protein shakes and have been drinking Water all day since the fill. I feel great!!!! Good luck to everyone who will be getting their 1st fill soon - it really is not a big deal at all. Then again, I guess tomorrow may be a different story when I start eating regular food again.

    Good Luck everyone!!!!!!!

  13. I'm about 5 weeks post op now.....still drinking about 2-3 Protein shakes/day and trying new foods little by little. I have my first fill coming up this thursday - 6 weeks post op. I am starting to get hungrier and hungrier....I tried a piece of rye toast with my tuna/miracle whip. It was great, but hard to stop at one slice.

The thing I'm having the most trouble with is not drinking with meals....especially at a restaurant. I did try a glass of red wine last night. I know we're not supposed to, but you have to live - right?? It was great and didn't seem to bother anything at all....I just sipped it slowly.

    Hope everyone is doing well!!
