    Realize band vs. Lap band

After hearing this, I am so glad my Dr. gave me the large size band! I have had my band a week, and things are finally looking up! People do not call that week "bandster hell" for nothing! I wondered what in the world have I gotten myself into a couple days after the surgery. My post op follow up is on Weds, and I cannot wait to eat mushies.... Did I just say that? Ha ha ha Glad you got a band that works for you!!

    Cereal?

Weight Watchers lists it in their fast food book as a good choice. I personally cannot stand McDonalds. If it works for someone, I think they should stick with it. It is all about modifications, calories in vs calories burned.

    Cereal?

Egg McMuffins are actually a healthy choice. Not everything from fast food restaurants are bad for you. I think it is smart to know healthy fastfood choices if you are in a bind. Egg McMuffins are 250 calories without cheese, 290 with cheese.
  5. I have been getting all the protein and fluids I need, if not more. I have two protein supplements a day. One can of soup at hand, two sugar free puddings, and a sugar free jello and fudgcicle. I am definitely pigging out! I am getting about 800 calories a day. I need to walk more. I really appreciate your prayers! That is so sweet of you! I had my surgery on the 28th, 6 days ago. I do feel a bit better each day. I am making the blues go away!

I go back to work on Monday. Thank you for all the support!!!

  6. I am feeling better today. Still bloated though! ARG! I have been drinking and drinking and drinking! I go back to work on Monday, so I hope I am not grumpy! My students are pretty good about behaving if they know I am not feeling well, so hopefully they will keep it together! HA HA HA!

That is greyt that you are so active in greyhound rescue! I was heavily involved until I got divorced. Being a single mom takes a lot of my time. I do volunteer for the group here and there, but not so much anymore.

I still want to get another grey, but my old lady, Bobbie, is content with being the only grey right now. She is very finicky in her old age. She spends most of her time in my bedroom and only comes out for walks and to go out to the restroom. She even demands room service for her breakfast and dinner! She is definitely the queen of the house!

Congrats of your group adopting out 400+ greys!!!! That takes a lot of dedication!!! Greyhound people are the best!!!!

  7. I am sorry for your frustration! Exercise, Exercise, Exercise! That is the key. Calories in vs calories burned. I know you are probably sick of hearing that, but that is the solution. I got the lapband to assist me with my caloric intake. My metabolism is so slow, that if I look at food I gain. I have to eat minimally, and exercise my butt off to lose even a pound! I wish you luck. Use your frustration to work off those pounds. It is difficult to get started, but once you incorporate that into your routine, you should be good. Keep a food journal to track your calories, and exercise those calories off! PS I am a single mom; and juggle my time between my son, work and school too. I hope you are on this board in 6 months so that you can give me that same advice! I have to be accountable for every bite I take, and make sure I work it off! Hang in there!!! :smile2:

I screwed up Day one pre op!!!!!!Help

I agree with Minimeme. If you screw up, do not dwell on it! Just get back on the diet! If you dwell on it you might end up cheating more. Hang in there! This is good practice for after you get banded. All liquids, no solids!

  10. Hi! My name is Lisa. I am having my surgery on Monday! I am very nervous and excited. I am sitting here drinking my last carbonated drink for a long time! Good Bye Caffeine, How I will miss you! I was told that tomorrow I am to only drink Clear Liquids the day before surgery. Does anyone know if you can drink the clear Protein Drinks that day too? I am glad this site it here. I will be reading a lot of information and experiences on here tonight. I wish everyone success!

    BANDED 12-24 and can't sleep

I have had no problems sleeping due to the drugs. I have even been able to take naps. The first night home I slept on my back with pillows under my knees and all around me. I have never slept on my back. I fell asleep for 5 hours. I was shocked. Now I am sleeping on my side. The Loratab did help the first couple of nights sleeping. I am no longer taking it since I have to drive.

How much gas is in there!!! I am so ready to deflate! LOL I had no gas on 12/28-12/29, but yesterday and today, I feel like I am going to float around the room. I am so bloated. How do I get rid of this gas! I really thought I would be gas free! HA HA HA! Good One, Huh?

    Surgery 12-28-09

I have been home recovering for 4 days now. I think most of my pain is from gas. How do you get rid of the gas? I have been walking, stretching, doing weird yoga positions to get it out of me! This is driving me crazy! I know things will get better, but it is really taking a toll on me. I have been down in the dumps, and struggling to get my everyday chores completed. I do not mean to have a pity party, I am just kind of blue. Has anyone else every felt like this after surgery?

    scared/embarrassed/unsure

I just had lap band surgery on Monday, and I did not think about how it would impact my life as a single mom. It has been a struggle, but we are making it! I am hoping that I begin to feel better over the next couple of days. I have been depressed, and have had no energy, but I do not want my son to know that; so I am putting on a happy face. I know this is not forever, and things will get easier. I want to be alive and active for my son as he grows older. With this surgery, it will be possible! Hang in there. You will always have fears, but you need to do what you feel in your heart!
  17. Are you on Greytalk? I was on that site back in 01. After losing my boy to osteo, I took a step back. I still have my wonderful girl, Bobbie. She will be 12 this year. My friend Deb, aka Mackey Pack lives in the Bay area. That would be funny if y'all knew each other!

Thank you luvj0nz! I am hanging in there. I feel like I am in limbo right now. Thank goodness my Mom is here keeping my 11 year old entertained. I walked around downstairs earlier and watched TV. Surgery 12-28-09

Thank you Amy! I am home from the hospital now, and very sore. I miss my morphine! LOL The doctor gave me a pain reliever, but it does not work as well. He told me that I would be in more pain today, and he was right. So far, I have not had any gas issues....knock on wood! Any recommendations? Thank you for your support!

    Realize band vs. Lap band

I did a lot of research on both bands. I was gung-ho about the Realize band, but in the end I went with the Lap Band. The Lap band has a lesser chance of erosion. Both are at risk for it, but the Lap Band design is less. I am in the hospital recovering at this moment! I am so excited about my new life!
