    July sleevers?

I'm July 1st too! I had the band in 2009. I've lost 49lbs. My band has slipped, so I'm going with the sleeve. I'm also in Houston, TX! Good luck!

    July sleevers?

    July 1st for me!!!
  7. Today I saw my doctor, and we added .5 cc's more to my band. I have a 14 cc band, and it's now holding 12 cc's. I lost 6 lbs over the past four weeks, but still do not have restriction. Please let this be the one! We have a 2 year plan in motion, and if this does not work, we will go another route, like the sleeve. So many of the people I met during my band surgery back in 2009 have had sleeve revisions. I'm praying this time around works! Good Luck and Strong Will Power everyone!

Very depressed ,Need help and guidance :((((

The lap band is a tool to assist with dieting. I had this discussion with my doctor yesterday. I had surgery back in December of 2009 in VA. I never had restriction, so it had been difficult. I lost 40lbs. Then gained back 20. Very depressing. I have recently moved to Texas, and found a new doctor. We have basically reset my journey! I have a 14cc band, and I am at 12c's now. I'm hoping I will have restriction now. You have to work hard to lose weight with the band, unlike the sleeve, bypass, DS, etc. It not a magic cure (like I thought it would be). 3 people that had surgery along with me have all had revision surgery to get the sleeve. If I have not lost most of my weight in two years, I am going to think about revision surgery. Sorry to go on and on, I just do not want you to have the same experience I have had. You have to restrict your food intake, and exercise. It may take more fills than you like to find restriction, but do not give up! I haven't, and I will keep chugging along!

Don't know if this is normal?

So glad that things are looking up for you!!! Hang in there!!! I'm starting my journey over again myself! I have a great doctor who is staying on top of things, and I'm giving it my all!! Eat slowly, take small bites, and make sure you taste every bite! 40 grams of Protein a day! You can do this!
  10. I had surgery 12/28/2009, I lost 42 lbs, then gained back 20 lbs! Boo! My band was not helping me lose. I did not follow the no liquid 30 min before or after rule. Poor planning on my part. I have a 14cc band, and it was filled to 10cc's. I had tests done to make sure my band was still in place, and in good condition. So I made an appointment to get another fill (I had not had my last one since 8/2010!!!! So I'm back on my journey! This time I'm praying it will be a success! I'm at 11.5 cc's, and I'm thinking this is my sweet spot! I know the sleeve is more successful (many of my friends did not lose on the band, so they had revision surgery, and got the vertical sleeve. Looking back, I wish I had chosen the sleeve. Here's hoping for success! ????

    Back on the Band!

I have seen the opposite, surgeons are now doing the vertical sleeve over the band. So far all of my friends that had revision surgery to the sleeve are doing great! They have lost all their weight and are maintaining. I am listening to my body more, eating smaller portions that are filling me up. Before I did not get full from small portions. The biggest thing I have learned is that exercise is the major key!!! Thank you for the input!

    First fill, no fill...

Mine has had to dig around with the needle to find the actual entry port. The longer you have it, the more scar tissue builds up and makes it more difficult to find. I think because you are only 6 weeks out with inflammation it's better to be safe and wait. You are still losing, because the band itself restricts food intake. Listen to your body closely! Congrats on your new band!

    December Delights 2009

I have gained back 20 of the 40lbs I have lost. ???? I got a fill today, first one in 3 years. Two of my friends from here got their bands removed, and got gastric sleeves. They are losing like crazy now!!! This is my last attempt. Wish me luck!
  17. I have been struggling. I have gained back all my weight! I lost 40 over the past 4 years, and gained almost all if it back in the past 6 months. I have learned that I have to exercise. If I don't, I gain! My entire family looks at me like I am a failure.
  18. Where in Houston? I found one, but he wants 499.00 for initial consult and 275 for a fill! Would like to find someone that is reasonally priced in Houston, TX.
