  1. Well here we are one week post-op  Hope everyone is feeling much better. I wouldnt say that the surgery was a cake walk....but it wasnt quite as bad as i had imagined. I'm still on clear liquids, hoping to move up to full liquids tomorrow with my F/U with Dr. G. I think all total with my 2 week pre-op liquids...I will be on liquids for a total of 5 weeks. I'm pretty sure each stage will get better and better. A week ago I was so sick of protein shakes but if you asked me this morning?? I WOULD LOVE ONE!!! haha Its all relevant. I'm not physically hungry so thats not really a problem. I avoid the constant borage of food commercials on the TV as they do get me "thinking" I'm hungry. If i seriously think of eating something "real" my tummy kinda doesnt agree. So I'm doing ok. As a nurse I worry about my nutritional status and will feel better on full fluids as i can get my protein and milk at least and maybe some nice warm cream soup. It all sounds good. I'm still a wee bit tender around my port site and more so since I've been back at work as I'm on my feet more and doing more bending. I'm sure it will get better. Hope everyone is coming along.....and on their way to a much healthier lifestyle...Heres to the January 13th bandsters!!!!!! Cheers.....:wink2:
  2. So there we go!!!! Jan 13 has come and gone  Hope you all are feeling well. I for one am just glad its done. I"m a bit uncomfortable, no shoulder pain though....I'm glad about that. I believe that Loratab is wonderful stuff...and I had a good sleep after I got home yesterday. One more step in my journey complete!!! Now a full week of clear fluids. Right now the thought doesnt bother me....wonder how i'll feel in a few days. Let us all know how the rest of you Jan 13th bandsters are feeling!!!!
  3. Seems to be a huge variety of pre-op instructions out there. Just do what your surgeon says and you'll be fine. Its not as bad as it seems...I am on day 12 of my 14 day pre-op and I'm doing just fine!!!! Can't wait for Wednesday....wooohoooo. A month ago I thought the 14 pre-op would be the hard part...now I think the immediate post -op is my next hurdle. No matter...I'll get through it all and be happier and healthier by the day!
  4. I said the same....I will NOT get on that scale till the morning of my surgery!!!! One of my "issues" is with that scale of mine...I never seem to like what it says and staying off of it is my best defense. That said I went to my pre-op appt. with my surgeon today and guess what he made me do!!! You got it....stand on his scale. Well I'm down 17 lbs and I couldnt be happier...I now feel content knowing that I'm going to shrink my liver and I'm not so concerned about that possible complication. So here's to 6 more sleeps...5 more days of pre-op diet.....and then is JANUARY 13th!!!!! Gonna be a great day for all of us....CHEERS

    Pre-Op Diet????

I'm more than half way done my pre-op and I can honestly say that day 3 and day 4 were the hardest for me. Since then although I have an "empty" feeling. I rarely think of it as hunger. On occasion if I smell something cooking I'll think ohhhh I am hungry, but otherwise I'm just cruising along. Anxious excited and motivated towards my surgery date and the rest of my life. I'm down 17 lbs already woooohoooo You can do it!!! Just have to keep your eye on the goal ....

    Pre-Op Diet

Just remember your goal....think of this as a really good kick start to your weight loss. I'm on day 8 of my 14 day pre-op. After day 4 it just gets easier or I've gotten used to this empty hungry feeling. Its only a short time!!!! you can do it
  7. Hey :smile2: I'm January 13th too!!! Day 7 today of my pre-op diet....not the easiest thing i've done but I'm doing it. Day 3 was the worst for being hungry ....now I'm ok. Just drink my 2 protein drinks....eat my small palm sized meal of chicken or fish and veges and I drink lots and lots of water. I've even gone caffiene free and I sleep so much better already. I decided to not get on the scale till the 13th AM but I have a pre-op appt with my Doc and I'll just bet he makes me get on his scale!!!! Sadist!!! I'm sure i'm losing....just easier for me to enjoy how I feel and how my clothes fit rather than see the number. For some reason that is one of my issues...that number is NEVER the one i want to see...no matter how good it is!!!!!! So we all rock!!!! we are doing it!! and just imagine the conversations we can have next January 13th !!!!!
  8. Hello Everyone, Well yesterday I was notified that my surgery date was moved from January 15, 1010 to the 13th. So yahhh!!!! 2 days sooner. But that meant today is day number 1 of my 14 day pre-op diet. I have always taken my multi-vitamin after my toast in the morning as I have a history of having nausea when I take it on an empty stomach. Today I took it after my protein drink that I'm allowed for breakfast and I am having nausea from it. Any one know any tricks? Its no huge deal I guess I can take it dinner instead? Just seeing several weeks ahead of me with no solids to speak of and I do need to get the vitamin into me.
  9. I like the GNC pro performance AMP. I use 1 scoop with a cup of light soy milk and shake it....I prefer the chocolate..but there are others. Total Protein powder and milk : 140 cal, 2 gm fat, 5 gms carbs, 3 gms of sugar and 26 gms protein. It truly tastes good. Unlike some of the others ....ewwww nasty.

    Any January 2010 Bandsters????

Hey JuniperNC, My date is Jan 13th as well...and I hear ya on the diet. Not sure what you are allowed but it is tough....BUT its only for 11 more days!!! You can do it.....its all weight gone....stick to it...make sure your liver is in good shape for surgery and subtract a few pounds from the total. Start a project and keep busy......If you are like many of us...you've thought about this a LONG while.....whats 11 days? :smile2:
  11. Morning My surgery date is the 13th as well and I'm already on day 4 of my 14 day pre-op diet. Its not so bad really...i think the excitement of finally getting these 14 days over with and moving on with the assistance of my band is helping me through. Start a project and keep busy....thats my best advice.

Enchanted Rock Park - Fredricksburg Texas

Ok my son is visiting for Christmas so he has had to bear with me through the first fews days of my pre-op diet. We went to Enchanted Rock Park....I tried..but unfortunately just simply couldnt climb to the top :( I am going back to do it.....I promise!!!! Enjoy the pictures its a beautiful place
  14. Just a quick note to say Hi , congrats and thank you all at once. I am on day 3 of my 14 day shrink your liver diet and its very similiar to the one you describe. Reading your profile and seeing your success has been an inspiration. Thank you :) I can't wait for Jan 13th!!!!

  15. I am on day 3 of my 14 day pre-op diet and I havent cheated. Like many have mentioned I want to make sure my liver isnt going to cause any trouble during the surgery and its a jump start to my new healthier life. To be honest I'm not hungry (amazing) I'm a bit light-headed if i stand up to quick but my pre-op diet is only about 800 calories / day....wayyyyy less than i'm used to. I'm just so excited and anxious to have this done that I'll cross this bridge straight and narrow....right down the middle to make sure everything goes well.
  16. I am on day 2 of my 14 day pre-op diet. I'm allowed to have 2-3 protein drinks / day (as long as they have less than 5g of carbs, less than 5 gms of sugar, less than 5 gms of fat and MORE than 15 gms of protein) and one meal (palm sized) of chicken/fish/turkey and vegetables. Wish me luck!!! I'm so excited to get started that I'm into day two and loving it!!!! is that weird?????? ha ha

    Attended seminar last night...

I attended 4 different seminars with 4 different surgeons. I felt overwhelmed at all of them to the point of tears. Feeling horrible that it had come to this point. Left the first two feeling like I could do this on my own, that surgery was too extreme and then struggled with yet another attempt to lose and of course....then regain weight. You will know when you are ready and when you find the right surgeon. Although still feeling sad that it has gotten to this point. I am now looking forward to a new healthier me with the help and support of my lap band (my soon to be new best friend) these forums and my local gym!!!!
