  1. Happy Anniversary to all of the 2010 February bandsters! It was two years on 2/23/2012 since my surgery and I'm down 75 lbs. It has been a slow process for me because I really havent denied myself much and just learning how to maintain what I have lost. However since I didnt put it on overnight, I'm ok with it coming off slow. I still have another 73 lbs to go and have made it my focus to get to goal by my next anniversary! Congratulations to those that made goal and much encouragement and blessings to those still on the path!

  2. Haven't been online in a while and wanted to check in and see how everyone is faring! I see some great comments! Stay encouraged! I'm doing well in general and feeling good. I've had 2 fills to date and have lost a total of 43 lbs. The last fill was 4/20/10 of 1 cc and doctor said that I'm doing well that I really won't need another fill until I find myself not in the "green zone" anymore. I'm probably consuming about a 1 cup of food in a meal period. However, I like others have had my days where I crave something that isn't so healthy and have given in to that impulse. For me the band does keep me conscious that I should make the best choices and only eat the food that I need for energy. I'm really working on changing my mindset, that I don't have to snack. I have added some cardio exercise like walking from my job to the train station a couple of times in the week (I commute) and using the treadmill. I will also start swimming next month. But I really need to start some toning. I've bought an yoga video and workout kit, but haven't quite yet motivated myself to get started. But overall I'm happy with my path that I'm traveling!

  3. I'm down 35 pounds since my surgery on 02/13/10, I'm so proud of it, but I have to stop now!! I'm pregnant. I cant believe the weightloss actually helped us conceive (a bit faster than we'd planned!). I had to get a partial unfil, so I'm at 2.5ccs. I can eat what I want, no restriction, but my meal sizes are still smaller than before, so I think thats what is going to keep me in check. I'm so happy I have this tool!

Congratulations on your on both fronts! You have lots to celebrate!!!

  4. Hey everyone! I hope that you are all getting through the challenges! It's really good to know that there is a lot of encouragement and support from and for all of us! I have made up in my mind that after all of the expense, pain, and effort in having this lapband, I'm going to succeed! I'm now 26 days post op and have lost a total of 27 lbs including the pre op liquid diet phase. So I'm extemely happy with accomplishing that much in a month! On my own last year I was only able to lose 12 lbs:mad:! I have been on the soft food phase of my post op regimen for the last two weeks and will be having my first fill on Tuesday, the 23rd. Again, I made up my mind that I could do this, so I have been satisfied with the smaller portions. Also sitting down and slowly eating and thoroughly chewing my food takes so long, that I'm actually glad when the meal is over. I have started to have cravings, and this could simply be my mind talking to me telling me I want junk. But it will be interesting and probably a challenge after I have my filled in trying to find out what's going to work best for me, so wish me luck!

  5. Had my first preop yesterday and moved into the soft foods phase of my diet. So I ate my first dinner last night which took me about a hour to eat 1/2 c of cominbation of some mushed green Beans, a vienna sausage and bake potato without the skin. Thought I did really well chewing and eating slowly to only become nauseated two hours later. I vomitted a couple of different times, but it wasnt the food that I had consumed, just clear liquid? Has anyone else experienced this?? This really seems to be my issue, during the evening I get nauseated and want to vomit? Otherwise I feel great, have no trouble with consuming during the day and went back to work on Tuesday with little issues.:w00t: My first fill is scheduled for the 23rd of this month! I hope everyone else is progressing along! :smile2:

  6. 5 more pre-op diet days and lapband here I come! After getting past day one, it hasn't been bad. I'm pretty proud that I have stuck to the regimen 100%. I really want to make a change in life that gets me to healthier and I'm really glad I have made this decision! So for all the fellow bandsters getting band on the 25th let's make sure and keep each other informed to our outcomes! Good Luck to all those getting banded this upcoming week!

  7. I'm getting banded the 22nd, Monday. I started the pre-op diet last Monday and have lost 5 pounds in four days, with three days to go. The first two days were hell, but pretty soon I got used to it. Eating non-sugar Jello, non-sugar pudding, broth, skim milk, non-sweetened juice, non-sugar yogurt and Unjury Protein powder with Crystal Lite. Also had some leafy greens with non-fat Salad Dressing and raw carrots.

This week I was super anxious about the surgery and life with the band, but I seem to be more calm today. I was most worried about pain and discomfort after surgery, but you can get through anything for a couple of days I guess.

When I found out I was approved for surgery I was excited and depressed. I imagined "I am breaking up with food." Get lost cheeze doodles, candy bars, and Klondike bars. You've not been good to me so I'm breaking up with ya. I'm about to enter a healthier relationship with food, which is what I need to stay alive and well. I've tried many times before but now I'll have the band to help protect me from going back to my bad relationship.

Well, good luck everyone. Hope you all heal quickly.

 Good luck to you! Enjoy your weekend, Monday will be a even newer day!

  8. Congratulations to all of the newly bandsters in the last week! I hope that everyone's surgeries went well and now you're all well on your way to a new you!

I'm really excited as my surgery date is starting to peak the horizon! Went to a support group yesterday and my pre-op todayl I start my 14 day pre-op liquid diet which is two Meal Replacement shakes and Soup (any kind I choose including homemade and Soups with solids!). I only have to have blood work, no chest xray or ekg. I'm so excited!!
