  1. Good thoughts for a great day, Hello Toes!!!

Thanks!!! Surgery went well and I've lost 7lbs since then (need to update my ticker) no issues thankfully. Also, my super amazing doctor only made one incision on my stomach for the port and I couldn't be happier. This is probably one of the best decisions I have ever made. I go in for my first fill in about 1 1/2 weeks, can't wait to lose even more weight by then. It seems like I'm averaging 3.5lbs a week which is great-maybe I'll reach my goal weight sooner than my one year goal ::keeps fingers crossed:::smile2:

  3. My surgery is scheduled for a little more than eight hours from now. This is a very similar fear that I am experiencing. I have been reminding myself that for my child's birth I underwent general anesthesia and came out fine (had major pregnancy complications). I also have to remember that for us this is a HUGE HUGE HUGE deal but for our anesthesiologists we are one of hundreds of patients that they work with and it's just an ordinary day.

Also, I have been chanting to myself : My body deserves better! This fear is NOTHING compared to all that I am losing out on if I don't go through with it.

    Hope this helps :)

  4. I had my LAP-BAND®® installed on Oct. 20th and I just had my first fill Thursday (Dec. 17th), it was delayed due to scheduling problems. I didn't have any restriction until the fill. I have lost 18 lbs from the first appointment.

In my mind, I was just always hungry. I thought that when I had my LAP-BAND®® surgery that I would eat less and I would no longer be physically hungry then I would be satisfied. But I have found, that after I had my first fill, I eat the super small portion and I am physically full, then I am mad because I was enjoying the food and I want to keep eating for the pleasure of eating. I had no idea that I had this relationship with food. I guess this is going to be harder than I thought, but the good news is with just 3.5 cc's in a 10 cc band, I can barely eat 1/2 cup of food and I stay physically full for several hours. Now I just have to get over the habit of eating.

I think this is something that I am fearful of as well. I have my surgery this Thursday and I almost feel like I will be a major failure because I'll find a way to 'cheat' somehow. I do have a therapist that I see weekly which I decided to start seeing the same week I decided to undergo lap band surgery back in September. How well did you do with your pre-op liquid diet? I keep cheating, the Protein Shakes just taste like crap. I find more often days than not I will skip a Protein Shake only to over-eat for dinner time (the one time I AM allowed non-liquids).
