    Biotin for hair

Not everyone loses their hair. Some people's hair thin, some doesnt. Bioten is awesome, I took that with a gelatin pill and I can say that it did make my hair thicker. I have not had the surgery yet and yes the idea of losing my hair FREAKS ME OUT!! But I can always buy extensions or wigs right?
  2. I wish this sore throat would go away. 3 weeks and antibiotics and nada. This sucks!

  3. Its finally over, that's what I'm thankful for

    November 1, 2012 Being Thankful

I am going to write down every day one thing that I am very thankful for. So here goes. I am thankful for both my girls. I consider them both my greatest achievement in life. They are the two best things I have ever done. They are the reason I am wanting to lose weight, so they will be proud of me. So that I can do more things with them and enjoy it instead of being tired and just wanting to sit.
  5. Sometimes just getting out of the house and going somewhere helps me. I usually go to a clothing store, you dont want to eat when you are looking at clothing!

    Im Geting Scared

SOCKS SOCKS SOCKS!! it never fails, when I go into the hospital for whatever my feet are freezing! If you are sharing a room bring your headphones and a iPod or whatever you have music on. When I had my hysterectomy and came out of surgery all I wanted to do was sleep. It was a day surgery and I ended up staying till almost 10 that night. bring a pillow and a small blanket for the car ride home also. I wish I would have remembered to do that, but I forgot. This time I am making a list of things to take! Good luck!!
  7. Ugh, I cannot seem to get a handle on my food.. I had so much to eat tonight I feel guilty..and I am not even banded yet.. I need to learn to get this under control!

  8. I have a migraine. I hate it when the weather changes :/

  9. I went to see my WL Dr. on the 16th of this month. My insurance will pay for it since I have a 45 bmi. I'm not sure the reasoning of why I have to wait 6 months, I was just told this is what my insurance requires. I have to see a nutrionalist or my regular dr. (I chose to see my regular dr since the nutritionalist is not on my ins and is out of pocket) My Dr. put me on a strange diet, I dont quite understand it.. I know its probably simple but the wording of it keeps throwing me. Exchanges..??? It's a diabetic diet too, I am not diabetic at all... but I am digressing. She wants me to lose 5 lbs by my next visit - which is doable. But to be honest I have not even started it. I wake up and I'm ready to go! But somewhere between the shower and my first meal (I get up late, so my Breakfast is around noon) I am starving for a hamburger. How do you make yourself do that first kick? Is there an easy mind trick I can do? (I know if it was easy everyone would have no problem) I am on myfitnesspal and I have it set to the 1500 calories she wants me to take in a day, but I take in probably twice that in a day normally, its kinda hard to cut it completely down in one day like shes expecting me to. I figured she would make me do a diary of what I normally eat in a day, and then on my next visit help me begin to cut out or ''exchange'' certain things for better options. I know I am going to be stoned for this - so let the stoning begin. Yes I want to lose weight, Yes I want to be healthier. But that first push seems to be the hardest. I have even cleaned out my cabinets and fridge and restocked it with only healthy options, but I dont cook at home a lot, we eat out A LOT. Ugh any suggestions? And how much weight do you have to lose in that 6 month period? And why? Is it possible to lose to much and not qualify for the surgery any longer? I have all these questions and no answers and I am just feeling low and miserable and like I am already a failure because I cant even do the most simplest thing like START the diet.
  10. Ive never laughed so hard in my life. I feel for you and understand what you are saying, but the butt shelf made me laugh because I have one too!!!!! Good luck on your psych exam.

    Food.vs.exercise

I am in the same boat you are JSahi. I have to diet 6 months before surgery also.
  14. Hi! My name is Felecia and I have been a member for 3 years. I have not had the lap band, the insurances I have had over the past 3 years would not cover it. Fast forward to now, my insurance will now cover it!! Yeah, now that I have a BMI of 45!! I am starting the process that my insurance and my Dr. want me to follow. I have to see a nutritionalist for 6 months and discuss and follow a 1500 calorie diet and exercise program. I also have to see my Dr. (who is also my nutritionalist) to discuss any health problems I might be having. I have to see a psychologist to discuss the pros and cons...and I have to see my lap band Dr to make sure I am following along with the program, AND I have to talk to my insurance concierge once a month also...lol So with all that I am just now starting my process towards the lap band. I am nervous and excited all at the same time. I hope to make new friends and learn more about everyone's journey. Feel free to add me as a friend or however its done on here Thanks!

    Being Secretive

I understand what you are going through, other than my husband and my two daughters only one friend knows that I am on track for the lb. I feel the same way you do, what if I fail?

    Lapband Or Plication?

It almost sounds like what they were doing in the early 90's... but they called it stapling. I'm sure its not but it sounds similar. I dont blame you though, I like the lb much better than doing any ''permanent'' thing to my stomach. Makes me too nervous. Thank you for the answer

    Lapband Or Plication?

I'm sorry I'm new, but what is plication?
  18. Hi! I just wanted to introduce myself, everyone calls me flea, I am from texas and as of January 1st my husbands insurance will change to Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas PPO. (My current insurance is a no go with ANY type of weight loss procedures) I am 5'5 and weigh in at 260. My BMI is 43 and yes along with this joyous weight I have health issues. I have high blood pressure, hypothyroidbism, and undiagnosed sleep apnea. I am miserable. Its a pain to be out of breath from just walking down the hall of my house. 4 years ago I went to my Dr. to ask for a specialized diet or at least the number to a good nutrionist and well he simply laughed and gave me a referral to gastric bypass surgeon....no personalized nothing. I was rather upset so I tried LA Weigh Loss and lost about 54 lbs. At that time I actually weighed 250 and it took a little over a year to lose the 50+ pounds (I got down to 196) then I did what most do, I started slacking off... just little things. Skipping the gym because it was too far to drive, skipping a workout because I was tired and had to get up early the next morning, a cookie here, a whole chocolate cake there and the weight started slowly creeping back on. When I hit 260 I decided I was going to try another weight loss program. (LA Weight Loss had closed down by this time) I went on Nutrisystem, only lost 11 pounds over a 4 month period. It was too expensive to stay on and I'm on the go way to much to eat at home for every meal so I decided to do Weigh Watchers. I did have some success there, in 8 weeks I lost 15 lbs. BUT then I got bronchitius and I wanted comfort foods. So yes I can lose weight through conventional diet and exercise! But my problem is the keeping it off. I have talked to my new Dr. (I changed Dr's) and she also has broched the idea of LAP-BAND® instead of the other surgery. Less invasive etc.. So anyone have any pro's or con's about LAP-BAND®? Any insurance info I can use? Anyone from my area? (Lake Jackson Tx) Thanks alot!
  19. Hey at least you had insurance that would cover the lap banding. My current insurance will not cover ANY form of weigh loss. None, Nada, Zip, Zero, Zilch! As of January 1st we will be getting BC/BS PPO and of course it will be my luck that in January they will not cover it anymore.. (They are still doing it but my luck they will look at me and go NOPE...sorry I always look on the pessimestic side of things) My sis in law had her stomach stapled and then all the ''cosmetic'' surgeries after the fact (surgery for the bat wings, the tummy flap, and if im not mistaken she even had lipo done and her insurance paid for ALL of those surgeries! IDK what insurance she had but man sign me up! I have crap credit too, dont feel like the lone ranger so I will be doing some serious saving and we are also in a credit recovery program. Our new mantra is ''If you cant pay cash for it you dont need it!"
  20. Thats something I need to have looked at, I smoked off and on for 15 years. Never very heavy but never as light as not smoking. I got bronchitius this past June (end of it) and put down the cigs and have not and will not pick them back up!! But I am still out of breath, I am thinking its the weight, but then again maybe I messed something up permenantly with all the smoking. I have an inhaler from the bronchitius that I do use on occasion, especially after I have been working out at the gym. I feel like someone is sitting on my chest or just wrapping something around my chest. Thats what I am wanting, something that will stop the yoyo-ing. I have to get my butt to a seminar!!
