I am in the same boat you are in! Banded 12/16 and up 1 lb since surgery day! It all started when I went off liquids. I keep thinking--I can't live on liquids forever--i need to eat!! It is very frustrating and I too need some motivation to exercise at the moment. I joined a group on here that is commited to all its members walking at least 1 mile a day. Hopefully this helps and i see changes in me and it will motivate me to keep doing more and more! Trust me you are not alone in this!!

Count me in please! I am not military or married to military, but I do need a serious kick in the butt!! Had my surgery on Dec 16th and have not lost ANYTHING! (except for my motivation somewhere ) Maybe this will be what I need to get me going--and once I see results it will be easier to stay motivated--plus I have accountibility from all of you !! It's winter with a ton of snow here in Western PA--and that always gives me the blues! So if anyone needs "adopted"--I can adopt them and I a ready with my treadmill for Monday!

My best advice would be to just BE THERE! I was totally depressed after surgery for about 2 weeks (I think because of the pre/post op diet restrictions) and wanted this thing OUT!! I wanted to be normal. My husband was great and listened and never judged or made me feel like maybe I did make a bad decision. Now that i am on soft foods, we have even gone to a restaurant to eat and I feel almost normal again! Also she will need you for things. He had to put on my socks/shoes for about a week. He even had to help me up from the toilet for the few days. When I had to sleep on the recliner, he slept in the living room with me. He is my rock. Be hers!

I actually have the opposite problem (please don't hate me!). I was stick thin for most of my life. I WAS one of those people I know hate who could eat anything and not gain weight. So I always dream skinny. Hopefully someday it will be true again!! Maybe then I will dream of myself fat (man I hope not!). Of course i have been stuck at this weight for a while now and it is getting really frustrating!!!!

LOL Kim--if you look I have the EXACT same post a few pages back! I was banded on 12/16 and lost 19lbs and have gained about 1 1/2 myself! It is very frustrating! Hopefully after we both get our first fills we won't be worrying so much! So sorry no advice because I am looking for some myself!!

PHEW! Glad to know I am not the only one! I keep looking at it thinking "man I really hope this goes away and my port won't always look like this!"

Good Morning-Question for you experienced banders--I had surgery on 12/16/09 and as of 12/23/09 lost 19lbs!. I was doing so well they only had me on full liquids for 2 days then to purees (which i am on now). Since then I have gained 2 lbs! I am not overly concerned about the 2 lbs, but is this normal??? Will the weight gain stop? I am following how much they tell me to eat (even though I know I could eat more I am not!). Like I said 2lbs I am not gonna lose alot of sleep over, but I want it to stop! I am doing what I am supposed to be!

Of course on the upside of it....I've lost 19lbs from pre-op diet to today when I went for my follow up diet (2 weeks). I don't expect it to got THAT fast anymore though now that I can something with some substance!

I too was on all clears for 1 week (just ended today WOOHOO!) and felt the SAME way! There are Isopur and other Protein Drinks that are CLEAR. I got them from GNC. They were kinda gross, but tolerable. There are also Protein Shots (not literally a needle shot) like a test tube. They are clear. I cooked veggies in my broth then took them out for more flavor. You can have Jell-o and popsicles or italian ices also. Towards the end of the week I was STARVING and had my husband stop and get a bunch of egg drop Soup from a Chinese place and blended the soup in the blender (to pulverize the egg strands). It's much thicker than just broth and helped alot!

I hope you get some replies because I am curious as well! I was looking at my and things like yogurt YUCK!

Thanks everyone! It is all just so NEW and foreign to me. Trust me I knew what to expect I researched and read very thoroughly before deciding on this---but it's REAL now ya know!! I will feel so much better about all of this once I am allowed full liquids. I am going crazy on these clear liquids! So hungry! I had horrible nightmares last night that I kept eating because I forgot and then was in horrible pain lol. Darn food and pain meds!! I know deep down I will be A OK, but sometimes you just need to hear it from someone else!

Ok--I am starting to freak myself out!! Had band on Wed. now I am reading some of the boards about too much of a fill and PB'ing and I am thinking WHAT DID I DO TO MYSELF!!! I hate puking. I don't know if I ever want a fill now! I knew all of this coming into this, but it is just so REAL now. Is it really THAT bad??? Plus I am SO HUNGRY. I know for sure it is hunger because I am getting weak too. I am only allowed Clear Liquids until Wednesday. I HATE THIS!!:smile2: Any advice/encouragment ANYTHING would help!

Not TMI!! If we can't ask each other, who else can we ask?? I had my 1st BM 2 days after surgery and have had at least one every day since (all liquid of course) I was also advised that if you feel like you have to fart, maybe do it on the toilet because sometimes it isn't just fart! I have not had trouble sleeping, but I have been very lucky with little pain. Hope this helps and again just a warning--it may not always be a fart!:smile2:

My doc told me aim for 64 but def. get at least 48oz's a day.

I haven't stopped drinking! I have been lucky enough that I have no nausea though! I think I am going to float away!! But yes I am peeing alot!

I was banded on Wednesday the 16th. Surgery was only like 30 mins and only 2 incisions with steri strips on them! Spent one night in the hospital (glad I did--gotta love the pain pump). Gas pains have been not too bad and no nausea. I am STARVING though. I have to be on stictly Clear Liquids until next Wed the 23rd (full liquids for 1 week after that). Popsicles and broth and Water just aren't cutting it! I never thought I would be looking FORWARD to a Protein shake:drool:. It is funny and kind of amazing the difference between doctors and post and pre op diets! Right now I keep thinking what the heck did I just do to myself because i am so hungry!! I found some clear Protein Drinks from iso pur. They are super sweet and am mixing them with 1/2 water, but still not helping the hunger!

Just had this done on Wednesday! I was amazed when I looked down and saw two teeny tiny incisions. Although I will agree that with the little swelling, I am STARVING!! Dr Ramanathan did an awesome job though! Surgery was only like 30 -45 mins!

I am happy I am not the only one! I had surgery on Wednesday and am STARVING!! I am drinking constantly, but it really truely isn't helping much. Besides for that I am truly blessed and feel pretty good being as though I just had surgery. Can't wait till next Wed when I go to full liquids and can have Protein shakes!! Never thought I'd be grateful for those, but I will be!!
Steri-Strips

I am a little confused and don't want to call the doctor for something so minor. I had one person tell me at the hospital that I could take off the Steri-strips in 2 weeks--and one person tell me to leave them alone they will fall off! Neither of these people was the sugeon--he told me nothing lol. What do you think I should do?? It's been 2 1/2 weeks and they are still pretty stuck on there. Should I take them off?? Won't they rip off the scabs??
