  1. Ok...I couldn't wait to get home from work to tell you all about my day. The most embarassing band moment yet happened today :smile2: I was at work and the VP of the company came up to my desk and was talking to me. Now wait let me set this up for you...my band has been extremely fickle lately and today was a tight day so I did not eat breakfast, just a protein shake. Anyways he was talking (and talking and talking and talking because he doesn't have an off button). Well, I was sipping water all morning because of just having the shake I was hungry. I took a small sip with him standing there and it "went down the wrong pipe" and I started coughing (bad enough right?). Well next thing you know, my band (definitly convinced it's a man now...sorry Bob) decides that everything must go in reverse. :scared2::eek::scared2: :eek::eek: Water comes POURING out of my nose, my mouth...any open hole in my face all over me and my desk and keyboard along with some slime. Thank God I didn't get any on him. I swear it was more than a cup. MOST embarrassing band moment yet for sure! Also thankfully his aunt had the surgery so he didn't seem totally shocked. I could've just died right then and there. On a brighter note, I found this awesome shirt that hides my rolls and got lots of "you look so skinny today"'s from people and the FedEx guy said I was lookin good. Unfortunatly he is kinda old and creepy, but hey I'll still take it...although I wish it was one of the hot UPS guys instead .
  2. Fill #3 was the magic one for me! Banded 12/16/09. With Fill #1...I was still just as hungry and could still eat just as much...Fill #2 was a little better...then Fill #3 I've had for 4 months now and am seriously struggling with if I should get just a teeny weenie fill next week at my appt or not because it is still working pretty good. My band is very fickle though (I'm convinced my band is a male lol). Somedays I can eat way more than I should, and then others it's a struggle to get down what I should. Once the restriction happens the weight loss will pick up again. It's frustrating yes, but it will pass.

    Banded and feeling sad?

I think alot of it for me also was the fact that I wasn't "eating" my emotions and had to deal with them instead of stuffing my face. That one is kind of hard for me and sometimes even 8 months later I still struggle with it.
  4. Oh and it doesn't help that stupid financial aid just looks at what you make and NOT what your bills are too! :cursing::frown::cursing::cursing::cursing: so I only qualify for an unsubsidized student loan. Don't they realize if I didn't NEED the $$$, I would just quit the job i already don't like!
  5. Christie-Sounds like a compliment to me Denise :frown: Octuplets I have been tossing around going to college for an Associates in Medical Office Administration with a certificate in Medical Coding. I can't decide if I should or not. I really am not thrilled about my current job right now, but I am very blessed that it pays VERY WELL. With my experience but no degree, if I left my job I would be lucky to only have to take a $5.00 hour pay cut which I can't afford to do. Not to mention work has slowed down soooo much that it worries me if my job will be there for very long. My big worry is can I handle going to work and school both full time (alot of the school will be online through my local community college). I don't have any kids, but even so I really enjoy my time off of work. I could go to school part time, but then it would take 4 years and that just seems like soooo lonnnng. Arg what to do what to do???!!!!????
  6. Seriously Honestly it was the day OF surgery that I was hungry! I was shocked and a little mad lol. Bandster hell started for me probably about 5 hours after surgery.

    Labor Day Challenge

I am doing alright. Still losing so can't "complain", but I don't know if I will hit my Labor Day goal and I HATE FAILING!!
  8. OMG lol I swear anytime I turn on the reruns of that show THIS is the episode that's on! He was a creepy little boy...hmmm..I still don't have a name for mine...possibly Anthony lol Jacki-thanks! Shad-Hoping life slows down for you and that you can get Phil fixed soon! What do they have to do to fix a flipped port anyways?

    The Master List...

Oh and TMI ALERT!!!! My dr also warned me that when you get the gas moving....be warned it may only feel like a fart, but sometimes it's more! (something with the anesthesia and then all the liquids they pump in ya makes you loose) I farted on the toilet for the first few days as well

    The Master List...

We have a recliner and I actually slept in that for the first two days. Much easier to get out of than the bed. After that I did sleep in bed, but got up with my husband so he could help me get out of bed and if I took a nap during the day it was always in the recliner (I was pooped the first week after surgery...I did walk alot though too)

    New Guy saying hello!

Jamie-welcome and congrats! Just like the other posts...walk walk walk walk walk...and then walk some more. That's really the only thing that is going to help. It will get it moving and then LOOK OUT :w00t: lol. My husband was pretty impressed with some of my post-op burps. I personally don't feel that you are losing too fast (but I'm not a dr) because at this point in your band you really are not consuming alot of calories. Heck you're not eating! In my personal experience I dropped really fast the first couple of weeks and when I got to mushy/purees (ah they looked so gross, but were like heaven)...I gained a quick 5lbs. I WAS LIVID! I cried (I am a girl ya know lol) and cried because I kept thinking I need to eat. I can't be on liquids forever. I called my dr and he said #1 the 1st 6 weeks are about healing and just focus on that #2 from a month of liquids (2 weeks pre 2 weeks post) that my body may have been in starvation mode and holding on to the fat and the calories from the purees and that he bets that they fall off fast. I didn't believe him, but of course he has the PhD and was right. For me Bandster Hell was exactly what it implys, but now that I have restriction it feels less like a diet ( I hate diets). Oh something else I didn't expect...I got really depressed about 2-3 weeks after being banded. Not saying you will, but I've come across a lot of people who have. IDK...probably something to do with having to actually deal with my emotions instead of stuffing my face . Please feel free to ask any questions or just vent
  12. (((Elfie)))-I am so sorry for your loss! You definitly need time to grieve. That was part of your family. Karen-It's not constant...just if I sit for a while when I go to get up it will feel like it's really pulling or ripping and then when it does start to act up it will do it for like a week. Then if I don't sit for too long it could be weeks before it happens again. Denise-glad to hear your results were normal and you can go for your fill! Hopefully this worked and you can see a before (but not really before because I was heavier just refused to allow pictures of me) and after...taken last weekend. Look out size 4...here I come (hahaha well..slowly anyways)

    face book bandits

I keep looking at tats, but I also can't remember how badly my 1st and only hurt. I remember I was going to ask him to stop and I would come back, but he was done...but i don't remember how long it took or how bad it hurt. It's been about a decade now.
  14. Leigha-you look AWESOME! I personally don't think anyone needs to be a 2. I forgot to tell you all of my NSV and you reminded me. I went shopping this weekend and decided for shits and giggles that I would see how far I was from a size 12 jeans....and they FIT! Not even the too tight gonna have to zip them with pliers . Denise-chinese does that to me every time! Must be all the salt or something

    Reathy think before

Swirl-25lbs is great! I, like many others, did so much research before hand that my head hurt! It still did not fully prepare me. Yes I knew the pros and cons and the good and the bad...but everyone is different and just because person A had this problem doesn't mean person B will. So try not to beat yourself up too much about that. What you did for your health is a great step. Be proud of yourself! I started off with really no MAJOR health problems (well not life threatening yet). The evening after surgery...I was starving. I did not expect that at all! Bandster hell started day 1 for me. I was pretty severly depressed for the 1st 2 months. I remember 3 weeks into being banded bawling my eyes out saying what the hell did I just do to myself!! And again I was totally educated going into this. I can say now I LOVE MY BAND! Keep up with your appointments, maybe talk to your Dr about all of your feelings (I got on an anti-depressant), and once you get to the proper restriction maybe you will love yours too. You did something wonderful for yourself and your family by chosing to try and get healthier and live a longer life. If you want it, then you will succeed!
  16. Have any of you all had this problem?? If I sit for a while in one position, my port will start to feel like it is ripping. Almost like the stitches are ripping out of my abdomen. It's been almost 8 months since surgery and it still does this. We went to a baseball game Friday and this started after sitting there for a few hours...and once it starts it takes it a while to go away again. Still doing it every once in a while today. I asked the dr once and they didn't seem real concerned, so I guess it's just something I have to live with. I'll take it though anyday over how I was . Just wondering if anyone else experiences this.
  17. Congrats everyone on the losses! Christie-hope Steve is behaving himself Elfie-I LOVE THE NEW AVATAR! Little piggy is so cute Denise-let us know the results when you know!

    Upmc

I was banded 12/16/09 by Dr Ramesh Ramanathan. I absolutely LOVE the program UPMC has (it was at Magee, but I am sure the one at St Margarets is great too) and would highly recommend it to anyone. They did make me stay the night, but they treated me so great that I didn't mind at all!
  19. Bob-I think maybe you need to patent your "liquid" diet :cool2:. All weekend my diet mainly consisted of Niagra, Strawberry, Apple, and Ice wine (along with very minimal food)....and the result....down 2.2lbs for the week! :blushing:

    Cheaters

Maybe try some SF Popsicles. It's still a liquid because it melts (it's even a clear liquid at that), but you get to chew! :blushing: That helped me when I thought I would go stark raving mad before I was allowed to move on.
  21. Christie-Congrats and fingers crossed for you! I noticed just this weekend that it is much more uncomfortable to sit now. Hmmm guess I'll take it over the cushioned bottom (although it's kinda flat now...still wide, just flat...it has deflated) Jackie-I have 2 incisions, but also healed very quickly. You are doing great! Melody-good to hear that your unfill has helped, but yet you still have at least a little restriction. Maybe you are just one of those people that needs to get like .1 or .2 at each fill. Good luck to you! HB-compliment...he noticed something, and if he's anything like my husband that is a compliment.

    Mashed Potatoes and Eggs?

I think it's Betty Crocker who has a brand that only has I think 80cal in 2/3 cup. There are a few different flavors, but the loaded is my fave . Granted, I don't eat the whole 2/3's nor do I eat them on a regular basis, but they are yummy when I want something quick, easy, and potatoey (is that a word??? lol)
  23. Bob-are you still on that darn farm? lol Luv the ticket by the way Melody-glad to hear you got a slight unfill. If it were me I would prob stay at 6 until after Disney too. It always stinks to get stuck in public. I'm getting ready to go up to Lake Erie for the weekend. Sunday is my b-day so we are going up and hitting the wineries! So much for a low-cal weekend . Maybe if I go on a "liquid" diet like Bob did, I'll still lose some :frown:. Have a great weekend everyone :biggrin::smile2::biggrin:
