  1. Oh and my vice are cheetos and the small .99 bag is 3 servings easy for me. I keep them in the console of my car(who knows why), I also stash my minature chocolates when I just have to have them. I think I keep there because if they were in the house I would eat them. In the car is too much effort.
  2. I'm bad and woulda ate another chip just smaller bites(pencil eraser sized) if I wanted them. There are no hard rules what you can or cannot have after a stuck episode. It's what your body can handle. I try not to get too stuck where I can't eat all day. It's really never happened but I can get stuck easily(and chips would do it) but I can put a couple in my palm and that's it for me and eat in small bites. But I figure a palm of chips is better than the whole bag(what I could have easily done prior to LB)

    ahh!!!

oh and I also do Weight Watchers at Work. I let them think their Points Plus mumbo jumbo is the reason I am losing weight. I havent counted a point yet but I maybe mentally I do. I just go for the comraderie and healthy living suggestions. It keeps me on my toes (or at least in the gym)

    ahh!!!

It has been a year this month and I have lost 88lbs. Don't let the horror stories get to you. I still enjoy food just not a lot of it(as I eat my sugar free butter pecan ice cream while I type) I also go to the YMCA about 3 times a week and walk/jog and use the elliptical 30 minutes at a time. I eat five or six times a day and either bites or small portions. Do I try to choose the healthier ones, yes, but I probably have at least one bad thing a day(just can't eat a lot of it, or a small bite) and usually it is sweet. If I let all the whining and complaining get to me, I would never be motivated. I am also pretty restricted....I think I have 9ccs in my 11cc band, who knows. For example today: Bkfst: I fixed oatmeal but it was difficult for me because I am tighter in the morning. I had 3 spoons of it. I worked out at the gym and ate a miniature snickers(I know the irony) Lunch: I had a 1/2 piece of catfish(husband ate the other half) Dinner: Shrimp stirfry(not even a half cup) no rice(they ate the rice) and a half an egg roll. I made all of this so not as fattening. A cup of no sugar added butter pecan icecream (ahh) I still eat whatever I want but I do opt for the meat and greens first. My sweet tooth is murdersome but I am good with low sugar stuff, etc. My blood sugar ranges 70-80 in the morning, prior to lapband (close to 300) A size 12 from a 22/24, 172 lbs this am(from 260) I'm pleased.
  5. I got my band last year when I taught at a different school and everyone knew and I didn't care, including my family and close friends but I started teaching at a different school in a different district and since August have lost about 30 more pounds (88 this year) and they have noticed but I belong to a Weight Watchers at Work group and I guess they figure I actually track those stupid points. I just go for the comraderie and healthy food ideas. I am not renewing this month though. When people ask how I am doing it, I tell them I am eating smaller portions (thank you LB), exercising 3-4 times a week (Y-M-C-A, and controlling by blood sugar (my dr is pleased as punch)...it's all the truth....I don't think they need to know

    I love cereal!!

And pooping is bad? I kinda miss it:) Kashi Go Lean is great with or without milk. I toss a handful in my yogurt but I haven't bought cereal for myself in months because it would take me forever to eat it. I buy granola or Fiber One bars if I want a cereal fix.

    Wine

4 days post op but nonetheless....A glass of wine would not kill you.....some other posters sound kinda harsh, I mean geez, its not gonna make it slip or stretch...give her a break. Just don't drink the whole bottle:)

    Diet coke post -op

it has been 372 days since I have had my last carbonated soda of any kind. My first doctor advised no but the second doctor said one or two a week is fine if I let it flatten a little. But by the time I started seeing him it had been months and now its a game to me, will I cave in to the lack of willpower or will I win over my own will. I have lost 88 lbs this year, so far so good. I have had a bottle of beer a few times this year but I usually can tolerate about a half bottle though I had two yesterday(light ones that I let sit out and settle down) I was fine. But I drink them rarely, very rarely and they probably flatten a bit in the fridge for the months they stay in there.

    Brownies!! Yikes!!

Definitely freeze them because 20 squares a week at a 160-170 calories each is well over 3000 calories and you state that you were making a box a week. So you not only did yourself a favor but your kids as well. Even if you ate two squares a week and your husband and the kids also had 2 squares, you wouldn't gain as long as the rest of the time you were balanced (ask me about my ice cream fetish and I have lost 88lbs this year) So you would have 13 brownies in the freezer which would feed you, hubby and kids almost 2 weeks and you have reduced four boxes of brownies a month to one and drastically reduced the caloric intake without doing without your favorite treat. The subsitutions are also nice but I know the boxes are easier to make but it could make you feel even less guilty(though I wouldnt over two lousy brownies) Frozen brownies are yummy! I freeze a lot now because I just can't eat it(Soups, chilis, everything I think is freezable)

    Boobies question

I was a 42 C 87lbs ago..now I am a 38 D (who knew that after being measured properly, I was wearing the wrong cup size) So the circumference around my body has decreased and yes they are defalted but they are there and with a really good push up they look fine. I could care less, I suppose and if my husband doesn't like them, he could always go find him a perkier pair. I was teasing him once (he likes chunky chicks but I chose this for myself, my health and our fertility) that if he wanted a big girl that it was cool with me because I would be young, skinny and even hotter so my options would be wide open. Thank God we love each like crazy and he is mad proud of me. Cliche or not but don't you love someone who loves you "through thick and thin"?

    What can I do?

Hot and Sour Soup is pretty awesome too.... I second the convenience stores...protein shakes, ready made tuna fish kits,,,,Soups to heat up in the microwave, even the soup at hands. I often get a cheese stick or a Muscle Milk from there if I know I forgot my lunch and want a cappucino before work. Wendy's chili is awesome too, you can buy it the night before and warm it up at work the next day. Usually a small is two, possibly 3 servings for me (I am pretty tight) I still have to chew it well to ensure no sticking.
  12. I feel similiar...my one year out is January 8th and so far I have lost 87lbs which has brought me from a 22/24 to a L and a 12. I still go into Lane Bryant but nothing fits me, but I am still drawn to plus size stores. I loved loved Ashley Stewary prior now its depressing because she is only a plus sized store, though being able to wear a Victoria's Secret bra is nice. I went into the Express and tried on size 12 pair of dress pants and kept telling myself they would never fit unless they had some give or elastic in them yet they did. (though I wouldn't pay the price unless there was a clearance or a coupon) It's not necessarily depressing and I am happy but I am not "excited" per say. I have 3 huge bags of really trendy, nice, plus size clothes and I can't wear them. Some tops I kept that look okay flowy but pants are another story. I have a really cute New Year's dress and maybe the weight loss will truly sink in because I feel the same. At least my Lane Bryant charge card works at Fashion Bug.
  13. but what happens after the tummy tuck? You could get fat again if you don't learn to eat good quality solid foods and let the band work in your favor.

    Portion size meals

I am not trying to sound hard but drinking a milkshake a day may work but in the long run it is unrealistic. You can take all the vitamins in the world but you are not getting much solid in at all and defeating the purpose of the band. I had the same surgeon as you and I promise you if he knew that you couldn't keep anything down, he would take a little out. The weight loss is nice right now but this is a lifestyle not a temporary fix. Strawberry shakes will get boring and unhealthy. I live in Louisville as well. I have lost 82 lbs and eat most things just very little of it and I am very tight in my band. I was banded January 8th.

    Any teachers out there?

I have soup or a cheese stick with a bite of lunch meat. Frozen meals are too much food for me so they are a waste of money. Sometimes I may take a leftover. Sometimes a snack of almonds or yogurt might do enough. I teach 7th grade and only have 20 minutes. I am pretty restricted as well. I have been banded since January 8th and have lost 81 lbs.
  16. Well my surgeon states 4-6 oz of solid Protein and if I am still hungry vegetables. He compares 4-6 oz to two Dixie cups(they are 3 oz each). He has me very tight so I fit way less than this of solid. But other things can slide down if I am not careful so I try to stay with the solids. He compares this to maybe 2-3 chicken nuggets. Point in case: I made whole wheat penne and turkey meatballs(frozen, cocktail size like what you would see in a crockpot at Christmas). I ate three meatballs barely and maybe two bites of penne. So I would be safe to say this is less than 4-6 oz. I had less than a cup of chicken tortilla Soup at lunch that I had got at a Mexican restaurant. I also had a Protein shake for breakfast. I also had a few nibbles of this and that but nothing to gripe about. I have lost 80 since January so I am happy and physically satisfied. I can eat most anything just very little of it. Some things I just don't eat not wanting to wrestle with it. I eat what I like. I also exercise and choose better options. I also attend Weight Watchers meetings for the accountability and comraderie.
  17. congrats! me too...I was a 42 bmi (260 lbs 5"6)and now I am a 29 bmi (180) 10 months out. It's weird but wonderful!
  18. sld21

    Tight in the morning.

I would never be able to get a footlong sandwich any time of the day in. I mean I can eat some bread depending on how it is prepared but it is tiny nibbles and crusty ones at that. My band is very tight but I can still get down most things. But geez, I couldn't imagine a footlong. If you were able to eat Breakfast, even a Protein Shake, I bet your desire for a footlong would diminish or at least dwindle to only wanting a six inch. Unless you keep a loose band.
  19. It also depends on how tight you have your band. I have very tight restriction and most chili or soups take their time in me to go down, chili especially. I can deal with 3 or 4 bites(small, well chewed bites) and that's usually it, it all depends. Brothier soups I can down more but most brothier soups like chicken noodle still fill me because I usually get the broth down first and only a bite or three of the chicken (if you are the eating the chunkier kind. I usually ending up throwing away the noodles. I can never really finish a whole bowl of soup or chili.

    Orgasmic workouts?

and that makes me want to workout....doesn't sound like a "problem" at all, just don't get carried away in the moan. That could definitely be emabarrassing at the gym. I however can master the moanless orgasm. But would rather scream...makes it ten times better!
  21. I'm not worried about holiday eating because my band is so tight(by dr and by choice) that I will eat a bite of this or that(probably less than 5) and be stuffed to the gills. So I can have a bite of stuffing, turkey and something green (which is what we make) and be full. Maybe later a bite or 2 of pumpkin pie(and still lose weight) I didn't get the band to remove everything from my diet but to eat in moderation. Some things I may not tolerate well with the band(and I have learned to adjust) but its all trial and error(and a workout) I have lost 75 so far in 10 months. And its very small bites or I would get stuck even if it was traditionally a slider food. Shoo even a big gulp of Water can feel rough sometimes if I am not careful. My doctor compares it to a tight funnel.
  22. I am 10 months out and I cannot tolerate eggs well. I can eat a bite of chicken, pork, some beef but cannot for the life of me eat eggs(and I love eggs). I sometimes can eat them at night but they are still rough going down and don't eat eggs for dinner often. Breakfast is usually a Protein shake or yogurt here. I am tighter in the mornings. It honestly depends though but overall, I cannot get them down although sometimes a boiled egg is easier (though I don't eat the yolk(yuck) I know when we are out eating breakfast ..I order grits, gravy and sausage and mix it....I can't even get that all down and its a very small bowl.

    Diet Coke

I don't think I was an "addict" per say but I liked many carbonated beverages. I might have had a few a week but not cases or anything. I also like other stuff as well (thank goodness) I was not much of a tea drinker (but I am now). I was banded 10 months ago and I haven't had anything carbonated (wait I might have had A beer but I can never finish it, I'd rather have a cocktail) I have not had a soda in over 10 months. My initial surgeon said no, my new surgeon (due to insurance change) says why not as long as I let it go flat (sit it on the counter opened for 30-45 minutes) I had dreams about diet coke (pepsi sucks); almost naughty ones;) at the beginning, now I don't think about it. The doctor tells me I can have one but now its a game to me, a game of will...I mean its been 10 months, why ruin the streak? And its fun coffee table conversation to say I havent had a soda in 10 months(it shocks people) All my life, I gave into my will or lack thereof. Now I triumph over my cravings(mostly), my body, my will. It has nothing to do with slip this, or no that...its all about me. Goodbye 75 pounds (only 25 more to go) and I am sure the no soda has a part in it as well. My skin thanks me too! It saves money too.

    whining or excuses?

I totally feel your pain. I am a middle school special education teacher, working on my last rank and second masters and trying to have extra committments. Sometimes 30 minutes is hard to squeeze in. My compensation is to eat less and I am still losing but I lose a lot more when I am sweating. I try to get to gym in between all of this for at least 30 no more 3 times a week.
