    Exercise Goals #2

I did the "bar and ball" class which is a total body toning workout and I also did "just dance" a really good cardio dancing workout! Tomorrow "Kick some Abs" kickboxing and then Wed "Interval training" and probably some upper body work.

    High protein cereal?!?

I just bought Special K Low Fat Granola. It has 6g protein. Not high protein but it's better than cereal and I'll mix it with yogurt and fruit. Simple and Quick. I get plenty more protein throughout the day.
  3. But maybe this is your sweet spot. I did the same thing when I went for my first fill. My Dr. and I agreed that I was losing and comfortable. And it's nice that I can eat "normal" and lose weight and tolerate foods... especially the fruits and veggies I like. I told him that I can eat more than four ounces, and he said that's fine. I still need to eat and tighter is not better. With that said, a few weeks later, now I can't wait for my next appt. so I can get a fill. LOL.

Fellow lap-banders!! I need your HONEST opinion.

I think you should do it. You look amazing! I think it's your former self not being confident in your success.
  5. I'm a little bit on both sides. I actually had good restriction postop and my doctor and I decided to not go ahead with my first fill yet. Now I'm counting down the days until I can get a fill at my next appointment. Anyway, this link has been very helpful in helping adjust my eating, thinking, and activity habits that i found on this board. I hope it helps people out. Adjustments

    Jenny Craig

Yes I've done Jenny Craig. At firstI loved it. Some of the food is really good, others not so much. After awhile I got bored with the food choices because it was so repetitious. The biggest thing I didn't like was that it cost so much! WW I think will give you a wealth of information and support and be easier on the pocket. I canceled my WW account online but I still subscribe to the newsletters because it's good info. I also just wanted to share that when I have a prepackaged meal because it's easy like a lean cuisin or WW entree, I get hungrier a lot faster than if I grill up some chicken and veggies and it's only a little more effort. Good luck in whatever you choose.
  7. So my husband was talking to a coworker about how he's trying to lose weight and he mentioned my success because I've lost 33lbs so far. She wanted to know how and he told her about the surgery and now she's going through my doctor to get the lap band. It feels good that I'm inspiring people to improve themselves.
  8. You look amazing! You should be very proud. Maybe the weight loss was slow but you look so good. It looks like you lost more than 50lbs. so keep up the good work. I hope this time next year I will be able to boast great results like you!
  9. SF Jellow and especially SF ice pops have been a savior, especially during the hot summer days. It also helps when I think I'm hungry inbetween meals but it's too early to eat. I haven't had my first fill yet so these have helped with cravings and fluids.

    How much Protein?

60 grams is my minimum and also supplement with isopure ready to drink. I notice a big difference if I don't have enough protein in my hunger and energy as well as on the scale.

    Labor Day Challenge

I'm going to aim high... 13.5
  12. I was only able to tolerate the isopure ready to drink protein drinks. They aren't milk based and come in a variety of flavors. Being post op and on solids I drink half of one bottle a day to supplement my protein.
  13. I'm in. 39lbs. is the goal that's 1.5lbs per week.
  14. Who did you guys tell? For the longest time just My husband, then I told my parents, siblings and a few close friends. Post-op I opened up to s few more friends. What are you regrets about not telling? none, it was my decision to have the surgery and I didn't want to be influenced. What are your regrets about telling? haven't had any regrets so far but I'm only 6 weeks postop What's the purpose of telling? First, just the fact that I was going into surgery. Then it was so that they would understand the procedure and the impact it would have on my life. Should I wait for results then tell? I can't answer this for you. Are you able to eat in front of people without having to explain your eating habits? What do you say to explain them? I haven't had to explain anything to anyone
  15. I'd like to be part of it.
  16. I've lost about 33lbs and I'm weeks out of being banded. I'm very strict with getting the protein in and taking vitamins. No hair loss and I noticed my nails are growing like crazy and much stronger. I guess everyone's body and metabolism is different.
  17. First, Congratulations on your weightloss! That's incredible. And in response, I am a new bandster myself. But I remember being the same height in my early teens and weighing about 100lbs less than I am. I think I saw the same thing in the mirror then, as I do now. I feel more confident now since I'm starting to lose weight, I;m getting many compliments from friends and coworkers. For me, it will always be something I have to work through, as body image has always been an issue. Congratulations again, and I hope for your continued success.

    Please Help Lap Ban Comm.!!!

I started to look into the surgery in december and had the surgery on may 14. During this time I was a roller coaster of emotions and also tried to back out. My husband has been supportive but never really thought I needed the surgery. I surely hoped he would support my wanting to back out. But he didn't. Continue to educate yourself here and lapband.com and with your surgeons team. I hadn't decided to definitely have the surgery until the moment I scheduled it and in my heart, I knew it was the right thing to do. The first few days postop were hard and I wondered the the HE!! I did to myself!! But many go through that too. I'm almost 6 weeks postop with my first fill scheduled in a week. I'm losing, have more energy and have been getting many compliments. Not everyone loses immediately postop though because they pump you up with fluids and you are healing. I already know that this is the best thing I ever did for myself!!
  19. I work as a nurse in a hospital that is a bariatric surgery of excellence and just so you know, many of the nurses I work with are anti-WLS. I could go on and on about some of the horrible comments I hear and have heard! I went to a different hospital and told everyone I was having a hiatal hernia repair, which was true. Be careful who you tell because once you tell you can never get that back. Two people I work with know and that's only because I am friends with them outside of work. I told one friend a few days before surgery and the other a few days after surgery. Good luck!
  20. My doctor was going to push for 5weeks post op for the first fill, but I'm going away with some girlfriends for the weekend. I didn't want to do the fill and be out of town. we are renting a house and will be able to prepare some meal and they've all been so supportive. SO I will have my first fill the day after I get back to NY so I'll have to be good. At first I wasn't good with exercise but as the weight comes off I want to workout more. It's a great thing to finally see results. And the truth is I do feel some restriction so I'm hoping I won't need much of a fill.

    Second thoughts...

I was always heavy and gained about 10lbs a year. I was nervous about the surgery and felt because I was 26 I should be able to do this myself. I'm glad I did it, I've lost 35lbs altogether and that's preop and postop with out my first fill yet. Just from having the weight off I'm able to do more and have more energy. I can do more at the gym and fit into clothes I couldn't before. I had a lot of the same insecurities as you and I decided I didn't want to choose food over happiness. And so far I'm on cloud 9. It wasn't always easy on my short journey so far but so far it's been a great experience.

    Sick of this

I had never had surgery prior to being banded. I was not at all prepared for the pain. I couldn't move very fast or sleep in my bed. I had to sleep in the recliner for about a week. i took the pain meds every four hours around the clock. Besides gas they also infuse fluids before, during and after surgery so please take that into account. You should try not to weigh yourself everyday... not that I follow this advice myself. LOL. Hang in there. It will be worth it.
  23. Isn't it weird? I work nights and usually eat at work and I find that I haven't been hungry. I'll eat a light breakfast before I go to bed and that's it. I just don't need as much I guess. Congrats!! And keep up the good work. Try to remember to bring something with you this way when you do get hungry you aren't stuck with unhealthy choices! Congrats again!
  24. How are things? I've been doing well. I see my surgeon at work alot and he checks in on me lol. I'm looking forward to my first fill on the 29th.
