  1. When I have to deal with a period of unpleasant, that I know will come to an end at a defined point, I break it into small time intervals. For instance, I joined the Army and had to get through Basic Training...the 8 weeks ahead seemed forever, particularly when drill sgts were yelling everytime you turned around. I mentally found land marks that were safe harbors....sleep time, mail call, etc. and broke the day into smaller time periods..."I only have 3 hours until X"....then "there are 2 hours until Y"....made the whole thing managable, as you can just about bleed your eyes out for short periods of time.

Can you find fun landmarks in the day? Times you don't associate with food? Don't look at the full 2 weeks...simply get to the next day/hour/etc.....? Best of luck to you.

Thats wonderful advice! I start my 2 week preop diet tomorrow and I plan on using this advice to help me through it ..thanks so much

  2. Hi I'm brand new to this process. I've just gotten my primary care manager to put a referal in with richard symmonds at scott and white clinic. I go for my first group meeting tonight I guess it's just where they explain the whole process.

I'm kind of nervous that tri-care won't approve me though.

here's my concerns I'm about 5'6 and weigh 236 lbs my bmi is at about 38 and I have feet problems and back problems.. maybe anyone can let me know if thats enough to have tricare give me the go ahead? The big issue I have is the whole psch exam.. what kind of ?'s do they ask you. I've never had eating disorder's like anorexia or bulemia, I just really.. really .. really like to eat..lol the only problem that i can think i have is that I was diagnosed with depression in the past. Would that hold me back from getting the surgery? One more question.. does anyone have any idea how long this will take from start to finish?

    thanks alot :smile2:

  3. hello all.. my name is Michelle and i'm new to the forum.. i was wondering if anyone here is from the ft hood tx area and if they have any advice for me when it comes to getting in touch with a surgeon around here? I have just started the process, in fact i still have to schedule my appt for my pcm to give me my referal. Also does it matter where your at whether you get approved from tri care or not ..cuz i know in ga where we were stationed last they were giving it out like candy. Girls that were like 60 lbs overweight were getting it done and covered through tricare..makes you wonder. Anyway... i look forward to getting to know y'all and appreciate any help/advice you can provide.. thanks
