  1. You name it I have tried it over the past 7 months. More Protein, no carb, more exercise, the nutritionist, a fill, less food, weighing and measuring food, food diary, a pedometer, medication changes, a week of "pre op" all over again. I'm not sure what else to try. Ideas? Perhaps it's natures way of telling me I'm just not meant to be thin? Surgery was over a yr and a half ago and still hover at 50 pounds lost. No where near what I had hoped for. Anyone trying Rasberry Ketones?

  2. Does anyone know if this plus size thrift shop in Avon, MA is out of bussiness? I have been trying to reach them over a week now to drop off a big bin of summer clothes but I keep getting "subscriber number is not in service" messege. Kept meaning to get there .. guess I waited too long..

  3. It's been 16 months post op .. only a 40 pounds weight loss. Nothing lost now since Oct. 2011. Pretty tough to get thru a plateau and keep doing everything right when it dosnt seem to be helping any. I have seen the doctor, and nutritionist more times then I can count, at the gym 3-4 times a week, tried adding Protein Powder again to jump start a loss and managed to gain 3 more pounds. Water intake is ok, meals are small, no snacking, I just don't know what else to try and change and neither the nutritionist or doctor seem to have much advice except "keep trying"

  4. This is a little far fetched but you know when you bite the inside of your cheek? It gets all swollen and kind of in the way and so you cont. to bite it and it just gets worse each time. To me getting stuck is the same .. I get stuck and the irritation causes a swelling at the band .. so the odds of my next few bites getting stuck are worse each time. After a good stuck period I go to mushies/sliders for a day or 2 so getting stuck isn't an option.. let the swelling calm down and things tend to be better after that. I also find slow really deep breathes sometimes help to move it down thru the band when stuck

  5. I just had my 3rd fill for a total of 7.25 cc's. I am getting stuck on I would say 75% of anything solid. Mushies are usually ok and of course sliders. I hate to have an unfill and stunt my progress as I was down 4 pounds last week and 3.6 the week before but I know this pattern of eating isn't normal either. I keep thinking .. chew more, smaller bites, more sauce but I think it may be just a hair beyond that. I have an appt. next Tues and part of me dosn't want to say anything but obviously I dont want any fill either

  6. My 1st fill took 7 sticks .. 4 by the NP then the doc 3 tries .. as well I was a bruised mess. I went back 2 weeks later and luckily was still a little bruised so finding it was easier .. but still took 4 tries to get it. As I get thinner and we try different positioning its getting easier. The NP also says the port will tip more in the direction of my breasts as my structure changes. I now lay on my side and the fat shifts to the opposite direction. The NP has also drawn a little map in my chart as to where it is in correllation of scars as markers.

  7. I guess it depends on the gym .. I joined mine more for the Water aerobics more then anything else. It took me a LONG time to decide I didnt care if I was gonna be the biggest whale in the pool and come to find out I wasn't. After some time I met a girl there who is in her 30's .. maybe a size 8. Come to find out she is intimidated by the skinnies as well .. the skinnies who intimadatee her are probebly intimidated by other skinnies as well. No one is ever happy 100% .. people always want someone elses eyes, or that hair or a perkier butt .. Go with your own goals in mind and leave with your head held high that your 1 step closer each day.

  8. I am 7 weeks out from surgery and only down 24 pounds, most of which was preop. My NP reminded your band is hardly doing anything right now but sitting there, and although the scale day to day may not blow me away ignore the little blips since I'm still averaging 3 pounds a week. She thinks I am expecting too much, perhaps she is right. It may only be 24 pounds but it's 24 pounds I have yet to loose on my own prior to surgery ..

  9. In my case stuck does not mean restriction. I am only with 3cc's in my band and the amount of food I can eat without discomfort frankly is insane, almost the same as preop. However I have noticed that bread is no longer my friend. Not even big heavy sub rolls or garlic bread but wraps and pitas are even an issue. I know they are gonna get stuck with the 1st bite.

I have also noticed getting stuck is kind of like when you bite the inside of your cheek. Once the initial ordeal is over inside your cheek / lip is swollen and kind of protrudes so you bite it over and over. When I get stuck there is a good chance the next time I eat the same will happen.. so I go to smaller bites, wetter food and more of a mushies diet for a day or 2 until the trauma spot has calmed down .. otherwise I just keep getting stuck over and over

  10. You name it I have had it .. h-pylori, ulcers, bleeding ulcers, and have been on Protonix 40mg twice a day (a high dose) for 3 years. I was still a candidate for the band. While he was in there he fixed "the largest hiatal hernia he had ever seen" and apparently due to all my stomach issue the bottom portion of my esophagus had eroded away so he re-inforced it with mesh. He had to leave me on the table and get consents signed from my moher in the waiting area as he was definately not prepared for what he found. But I still came out with a band !

  11. I am gonna give these a try at the market tomorow.. my mornings are never good for breakfast and although delicious I have been living off a quiche recipie I found on the lap band web site .. make one every weekend, feeds me all week.. but this would be a nice change. I just wish they could find a way to cut that sodium, if I want salt I'll add it .

  12. Just had my first fill as well..8 sticks later to try and find my port I managed cottage cheese for dinner that night and am doing 2 days of mushies before trying real food. I have to say I am disappointed.. I have no pressure or pain w/ eating like I did the 1st 3 weeks following surgery. I assumed thats what restriction felt like. I had no problems with mushies day 1 yesterday.. portion sizes were bigger then should have been and still was hungry in between. I'm hoping there is a delayed reaction cause if I eat like this before I see her again in 2 weeks I could be up 10 pounds.. :wink2:

  13. I am only 3 weeks post op but at what point do you stop thinking about ways to cheat the band, realize that last 3 bites is going to make you really uncomfortable and you choose not to take them anyway. Remembering not to drink for 2 hours following meals..

I realize the band is just a tool and it's up to me to work it. Now that the physical appetite is under control how do I get the mental one under control? I am seriously wondering if I need to consider counsling, OA something. I know it's early, heck I havn't even had a fill yet but I'm already starting to think I can't do this..

  14. It will be amonth on the 14th and I am only down 22 pounds.. all of which was preop and maybe 6 post op. I am already discouraged with the lack of wt. loss and find myself already slipping back into old habits. Another week until my 1st fill... am hoping that will be the shot in the arm (or belly) to get it together and work with this band as I should. I hate to think I went thru all this for 20 something pounds..
