Rest, relax, and hold on - that is to everything but those few extra pounds ...you've just started the journey of a lifetime... Congratulations!! ...oh, and correction...we have TWO batters up on Wednesday!!! Good luck ladies, and remember to check in as soon as you can to let us know how you are doing! ____________ Chris

    November Bandsters!

Hi Ladies!!! Welcome to everyone new! Just wanted to let you know I've updated the list. It now contains our new members: Lois Lane, CJay and Sunsreturn!!! And, I updated AngelaT's stats to show her loss!!! YEAH!!! And, I don't know how I missed this...Karen's 5lb loss as well!!! YEAH!!!! I also added Jess02's stats.... "Lil" Red's I took care of on the first day... Okay, as for me...nothing new, just holding steady - trying not to give into the last supper syndrome - and ready to cheer each of you on as your day arrives! Oh, I do have an NSV...maybe if I post it, I'll hold true to it...I've given up fried french fries...okay, I've given up french fries for now. Period. One day, when I can trust myself not to over indulge, I might add back in baked fries. Potatoes are my "mortal weightloss" enemy. One day, I will completely overcome them. __________ Chris

    November Bandsters!

Sorry, it took so long to respond. Yes, my surgeon HAS to run all of the test. As you were saying for various reasons, this is mandatory for everyone who is having any type of surgical procedure. As for my prescription...I'll have to look that up for you. I haven't taken them in so long (a couple of years to be exact), I don't remember off hand. Sorry, I confused the matter. It wasn't my surgeon who put me on them, but my family doctor years ago. There are in between stages before the shot. However, it depends on how quickly you are trying to boost your numbers back up, and how far they need to come. Iron shots are heavy duty, and come with quicker results then taking any type of pill. I hate to tell you this, but there not the most fun either... Difference betweet a regular shot :tsk: and a shot with iron.... But trust me, if you have to have one, you'll survive... ____________ Chris

    November Bandsters!

I was SO busy sharing about my past experience with liquid diets and anemia...that I forgot to mention that my old doctor's office FINALLY gave me the papers that was holding up my surgery. Now, I'm just waiting for the actual surgery date. Keep your fingers crossed for me - that there is still an opening in November. For those who didn't know, in September I was given an October date, but then paperwork held up my insurance approval....I'm talking a four week delay, but that's behind me now. I think, and this is a good suggestion for everyone, from here forward, before I switch doctor's offices, I'm going to ask for a complete copy of my medical records. That the soon to be "old" doctor has on file. My documents, my right. _____________ Chris

    November Bandsters!

Hi ladies! I'm back. I just realized I didn't say who my surgeon was. It's Dr. Cahill in Oak Lawn, IL (Chicago area). As for the liquid diet, they require 1 week prior to surgery and SIX weeks after. I'm hoping this "liquid" is figurative language... I went to a herbalist a few years back, who put me on a 5 day juice, special tea, Protein liquid diet...and let me tell you, at MIDNIGHT of the last day...I was eating baked fish. I wonder if it was because I was TRULY hungry and my fast was over, or because at the strike of the clock I also turned 30...LOL. You know at 29 and single, you think your life is over...and just 3 years in, I realize it's just beginning. As for the herbalist's program, it was designed to clean out the toxins that were in my system. He did allow us to eat fruit (my Dad started going to him, too, but not for weight...no matter what you needed, Doc wanted you to detoxify yourself)...I took that to mean one piece, so each day I had a little red apple. WHEW, it was the best thing ever - when you go cold turkey on liquids, it felt like fine dining. I treated it like my dinner every night, and couldn't wait to get home. I was on his "change of lifestyle" eating program for 5 months, lost 35 to 40 lbs but eventually became discouraged. I had NEVER lost that much before, and I now realize my discouragement was caused by a plateau...and now that I think about it, my plateau started when I added exercise to the program. Of course, I've gained that back plus 5 to 10 lbs. As for the anemia...I'm so sorry to hear about those who's surgeries are being postponed. Actually, you've been scaring me. Anemia runs in my family, and I've been put on prescription Iron in the past. Sort of weaned myself off of them and on to over the counter iron, just to make sure my numbers are good. So far, my Dr hasn't hollered at me. Hmmmm, maybe I should double up for a week or two. Whenever I get overly tired my mother, who is anemic and an RN, has a fit and tells me the over the counter isn't strong enough for me - double up for a week or two. I'll have to give this some thought, and check my last test. If the numbers were low, I'll do it. Because, while not getting enough iron is bad for you...getting TOO much is also bad. Quick note: I wouldn't recommend anyone do it, unless your physician recommends it. ___________ Chris

    November Bandsters!

Hi Angela and Kim, I don't know where I'm going to end up at. I've always been big, just getting back to my high school weight would make me happy. Even then, I was more then some of you are starting out now. I'm 5'6" and currently weigh 350 (my heightest weight ever, and I found this out at the surgeon's office)...If, no WHEN, I get to 230, I'll just take it from there. I haven't seen anything lower then 200lbs since I was 13. I went to a private school, that would weigh us at the beginning of the school year...I dreaded it. _____________ Chris

    November Bandsters!

Hello everyone, this is my first post on this site. I don't have an actual date yet. I was supposed to have the surgery at the end of October, but I need one more thing for my insurance, and the office I have to get it from has been dragging its feet about it. Their time is up tomorrow, though. So, unless some unexpected miracle happens, I'll be a November bander, too. WOW, that's the first time I've said something like that. I've been avoiding it, trying to keep myself from getting too excited before it was written in stone. I look forward to sharing more with you as we travel this road together! _____________ Chris
