I am 11 days in on this pre-op diet of mine....:faint: only had one give in and that was on Tuesday made it till the gang went to happy hour and then I had 5 cranberry and vodkas. ( over a long time) but only 3 chips (we were at a Mexican Food place). Had chicken fajitas with veggies and skipped the tortillas!! Yea for me!! tammyj I think the whey protein drinks are keeping me going to!! I use the Jay Robbs with skim milk and they smell and taste good!!! (to me anyway my DH has even been drinking them---I hope DH means husband, still trying to get the lingo down:nervous ) Anyway just need a little support because I am getting really nervous:o . I am only 11 days away!! I am about to cry as I write this:think . I know it's just all those old messages in my head that this won't work either or you won't be able to do this and this is the easy way blah blah blah blah blah!! I need some words of wisdom, cause I am going to get through this.

Hang in there Sophie248 My surgery is the 5th as well. You can do this. A friend of mine told me if the doctor said you couldn't have the surgery unless you did this you would do it right. I thought about it and agreed. The first 3 days of the low carb was very hard. But as the week went on it got better!!! Just another reason to do this band deal!! We are carb addicts I think ( at least that's how I have felt about it this past week)
5. I agree with MarySue. I told my principal where I teach I am having surgery and she was fine. I told my team I teach with but that's it. If people ask how I am losing weight I am going to say exactly what MarySue said and leave it at that until I am ready!! Great Advice MarySue!!!:clap2: :clap2:

Here is my pre op diet from my doc. So far I'm doing ok. Started on Monday the 12th of Feb and I am down around 8 lbs. Yea!!! PRE-OP DIET<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> (or WHAT CAN I REALLY EAT?) When the doc tells you Prior to Surgery: 1) [ ] Start a high protein, low carbohydrate, low fat diet. Meat and vegetables only, NO fried foods. This helps shrink your liver and reduces surgical risks. This diet will also help in your recovery process. (An overview of the diet is below.) Ø Protein (based on your current BMI) a. BMI above 45 you need 60 or more grams of protein b. Machele My doc said to only do the liquid if you couldn't stay on the high protein/low or no carb as I like to call it. Ever doc is a little differnet the important thing is shrinking the liver I think Have a great day.

My emotions are all over the place too. Since it's 11pm on a Sunday and I am not asleep yet. Hang in there everyone and we will move on through this. It helped me to think today about the why's and the future and what major surgeries/illnesses I have previously experienced. Figured if I could make it thorugh those this will be managable too:biggrin1:

Well my pre op diet if I start it Monday does not have to be a liquid. Thank You Lord!!:clap2: Seriously I could not do liquids only for that long. No my doc has me on a diet of proteins, (meat, fish, poultry), skim milk, and vegetables (excluding peas corn and potatoes) Absolutely no starches, no fruit, no sugar, :rolleyes I just keep telling myself at least it's not total liquids:biggrin1: :paranoid :biggrin1: My daughter is home from college just for the weekend so that will keep my mind off of it. And she is coming home for spring break and that's the week of my surgery. So I will have her to encourage me. She is really good at that. She is so terrific.:lever:

March 2007 Bandsters

Well have to start my pre-op diet on Monday. After all the trouble I have had to get here I am still a bit nervous. I just keep telling myself that it is the fear of the unknown. I don't know what life is like when you have a normal relationship with food. I have been eating my self silly this week and each time I realize it's not making me feel any less nervous. I think this is good!! I:nervous maybe?! Anyway Tracyinks congrats on your appt!!!! I have been checking back daily to see when you got it. Sorry :think you won't be a Marcher but at least you are set and ins is covering. I will lurk around inthe April thread and see how you are doing. Hang in there Arpil will be here before you know it. Also, my principal was very supportive about my needing the 5 days off. She did'nt even ask what the surgery was for. She was very positive about the whole thing and I have a former teacher subbing for me that week and my preop appt. days so it should all be good. Wow there are alot of us being banded on March 5th. :clap2: Must be a good day for banding. Also thanks to Tammy for keeping up our list:clap2: !!!!!

Hey be pro active on letters and such. I had to do some calling to make sure things got faxed and such. They originally turned me down because my paperwork had an incorrect weight amount listed for me in Aug of 2002. It said my OBGYn had me at 161. I WISH!!!!! I wouldn't be needing a band if I could get there on my own. Icalled and sure enough it was a mistake (I knew I hadn't seen that number since the mid 80's) They faxed the copy of the chart where I weighed 291 to the insurance and there you have it. Also my psyc eval was done in Aug. and the doc office still didn't have it in DEc. again I did the calling and it got done quicker. Hang in there girl and I'm pulling for you to be a March Bandster!!! Will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Also tomorrow is my Birthday Wheeeee!!!!! Knowing I will have the band I am actually looking forward to all the years to come!
